The Behemoth Is Back With A Vengeance! The North Norfolk Mince Pie & Xmas Lights Specials

The behemoth that is WD 2-10-0 90775 'The Royal Norfolk Regiment' has returned after a long and arduous 18 months of extensive boiler repair work after cracks in the boiler was found. Now she is back in service hauling NNR's winter trains and boy is she shouting about it! Putting on impressive displays as the driver skillfully navigates up NNR tricky inclines with minimal amount of wheelspin, but enough to keep me happy :).
Four services operated throughout the day with two evening xmas lights specials also operating. (Details Below). Walking over 10 miles within the day we witness a variety of locations and views such as the Kelling Heath, Crossing, Weybourne Station & Sheringham Park Gazebo to name a few.

Reserved seating
Climb aboard a train of historic carriages, hauled by a powerful steam engine and enjoy a relaxing post-Christmas journey between Sheringham and Holt. Tickets will include a delicious mince pie and a mulled cider for adults served at your seat while children are not forgotten and will also receive their own seasonal refreshments.
Tickets include reserved seats for a return trip lasting approximately 70 minutes on the train of your choice. You can choose to start from either Sheringham or Holt - make your selection at the time of booking. The train affords unrivalled views of the countryside in winter including spectacular views out to sea - all from the comfort of a cosy carriage, heated with spare steam from the engine!
Dogs are very welcome on these trains, providing they do not sit on the seats or tables.
The Old Luggage Office Refreshment Rooms at Sheringham will be open for hot and cold drinks, tasty snacks and delicious light refreshments - passengers starting from Sheringham can visit before and/or after their trip while those commencing their journey from Holt can pop in during the stop at Sheringham. The on board bar car will have a carefully selected range of hot and cold drinks and snacks and will be open as passengers board the train at Holt.
Timetable
TRAINS DEPART FROM SHERINGHAM AT: 10.30, 12.00, 13.30 and 15.00
TRAINS DEPART FROM HOLT AT: 11.15, 12.45, 14.15
Tickets are valid for an out and back return journey on the same train - the whole trip takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Most seats are arranged around tables of 4 or in compartments. Please book a compartment or the most appropriate combination of tables for your group.

The Norfolk Lights Express is an immersive, wintertime experience that is fun for the whole family! Arrive after dark at Sheringham Station and you’ll be greeted by the magical sight of a steam-hauled train illuminated by thousands of tiny lights.
As your train steams from Sheringham to Holt and back, you will literally see the countryside in a whole new light as the on-board lights shine on to the scenery in a series of changing colours. The theme for this year, Four Seasons in Colour, will also be brought to life by the on-board narration and music. During the 5½ mile journey to Holt you’ll pass around 10 colourful lit-up displays on the lineside or dramatically set in the woods adjoining the track, all telling the story of the changing seasons.
Your journey will break with an intermission at Holt, giving you the option to hop off and take photographs with the train or to visit the onboard bar. The return journey provides another opportunity to enjoy the lineside displays with the on-board soundtrack complete with some seasonal music adding to the spectacle.
The Old Luggage Office buffet at Sheringham will be open for you to purchase hot festive baps, hot drinks, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, delicious homemade cakes and savoury refreshments. A licensed bar will also be on board each train and can be visited before departure and during the intermission.
Please note: The Norfolk Lights Express features flashing lights along with narration and music played over a PA system. These are integral to the experience.

Although a wartime "austerity" locomotive Riddles was able to make the class attractive, she's a beauty and its fantastic to see her in steam on the NNR. Only one big negative however, I cant be there to see her!

@@tango6nf477 yes absolutely, she certainly is one of those 'ugly beautiful' locos, was a long journey for me to see her as well but as she's the only one back in operation I just knew I had to see her!
