Back in the days when the whole family watched TV 'together', were entertained, laughed out loud & enjoyed each other's presence. Great days...Fast forward,...now 2021 Covid/Corona era, all family at home due to lockdown, but everyone in their room on social media, detached from whoever is sitting next to them and trying to connect with people who are not there.... sad reality. I prefer the old days.
I came to Australia in 1981, not one word of English but watching the Hoges show was just laughter. Missed it so much. Life and times just flashing by, it’s already 2021. Hopefully Hoges will be with us for a while yet.
I'm an Aussie, born in '61, grew up with Hoges, i always tell Americans the country of Australia stops for 3 things, Melbourne Cup, 11/11, and The Paul Hogan Show!!!! And its very true! Plus the Australian government should be ashamed of themselves for going after him for tax evasion, the man has done more for Australia than pretty much anyone! They should've made him "tax exempt" for his contribution to Australia's profile!!!!!!!!!!!
At least one Crocodile Dundee film was shown on British TV every month when I was growing up and my mum used to say that Paul Hogan had never done anything on film or TV before and the producers discovered him in the outback and told him to just be himself. Now I discover that he was a comedian and big star in the 70s lol!
Strewth Stropper and Hoges sure did have their share of fun together including well a nice Party feeling as shown in these classics and of course Delvene Delaney and Karen Pini a delicious pair of Sheilas for sure.
That’s not true. In order for that statement to be true, there actually has to be comedy today. I’m sorry, but nervous laughter from watching and listening to some idiot swearing enough to make sailors, long shore men, and construction workers blush isn’t comedy. It’s what stand up “entertainers” do when they have nothing.
My friend's first job in tv/film was working on the film Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. To this day, he still raves about what a kind and welcoming person Paul was to him. He also was kind enough to get me an autograph that reads : To J.J. "the Wanka man" Your friend Paul Hogan. One of my most prized possessions!
“ The Wankas have been in the stunt business for over 40 years, it’s my aim that people will look at me and say - there goes Leo, the greatest wanka of them all…” Thanks Channel 4 🇬🇧👍‼️
Yeah I know I miss it terribly. Laughter is medicine for the soul and thanks to PC it’s ruined it. I hope that one day we can enjoy laughing at ourselves again.
@Shawn Chevarie the priminister in 30yrs will probably be wearing a turbin, at the rate we're goin. They make immigrants citizens on Australia day, hahahaha. Beam me up scotty ffs.
I loved this as a young lad and being called Nigel my mates used take the micky calling me Nigel Lovelace, I could do a good impression too. Coming from the UK we didn't get Paul Hogan until the 80s but we loved him.
I remember one Friday evening as a kid back in the 80s sitting upstairs in my bedroom. I could hear my parents roaring laughing together which they never did back then. I went downstairs to discover them watching the Paul Hogan show which was airing for the first time on the UK. Both are gone now but this brought back sweet memories.
In high school back in 83. My friend Kurt and I used to watch this and practically be on the floor from laughing so hard!!! My sides still hurt from watching this iconic show on UA-cam. I wish they would release it on DVD. I especially love the scenes that have Rod Stewart songs in the background such as Young Turks and Hot Legs.
After twenty years in Sydney, I had to move to the bush to find blokes still talk to each other the way Strop & Hoges did back then. Long may it last...
Yep in Sydney and Melbourne they "do lunch" and take their car to "my mechanic'. It's pretty sad. They even get offended at fighting in a football game. Bunch of bloody skirts they are.

Awesome stuff..... One of the first shows aired on the then new channel 4 in Britain about 82....used to love it..... God bless our colonial cousins 😂👍
We use to get the Paul Hogan show over here in the States in the early 80’s , loved it as a teen , looking back at it now brings back a lot of nostalgia The two great skits I remember fondly , was his Raiders of the lost ark spoof And the Awesome Super Dag
My Dad in the UK (Liverpool) used to get these shows every two weeks on the old VHS Videotapes delivered to his Shooting Club the (RR&PC) Riverside Rifle & Pistol Club As part of a Promotional deal, he had with the Projection TV Screen company back in the Early 1980s. At first, it was like, bloody Aussie sense of humour, YAWN YAWN these are going to be chucked straight in The bin! 4 Weeks later, couldn't wait LONG enough for this big brown Jiffy Bag to arrive in the Mail to Dad’s Club, Fuckin Hilarious!! Thank you, Paul Hogan and your team for the laughs we had in my Dads Club Circa 1981 ;)
Brung up in the UK and educated in Aus, I loved Paul Hogan, he was the one to watch, he cracked me every time I watched him. But what happened to The Norman Gunston Show? from what I can remember he was a bloody good interviewer, he took the piss out of Paul Mc Cartney, Gough Whitlam and Paul Hogan. Sadly I see nothing today that can compare. Please if you know of any decent Aus comedians let me know, I`m always on the lookout for a good Aus laugh without pointless swearing or political agenda`s.
