Comedy Company was an Australian institution. Everyone would watch with their families and everyone would be quoting the jokes at school the next day. Thanks for the share.
84 model myself, remember straight home from school hide my uneaten lunch and naughty boy notes then to my black and white TV, turn the dial to find ABC for monkey magic then wait for sister and mum to finish watching Neighbours and home and away worst hr of my life, then comedy central, later on Fast forward and full Frontal. Eric banere played Pete names Pete sweet want a VB him and Carl was the best and kylie mole was funny, she knows she knows she goes she goes Australian comedy is far more witty and shit stirring. Nothing was off limits. Im autistic and half the characters was mentally challenged in same way, and the word retard was ues all the time, it was funny i thought im a retard and proud, but the word spastic is horrible im retarded not stupid, now Americans has stuffed up our layed back larrikin way of life coz they racists, country investors and backward gun crazy wanks. Aussies are beer drinking pub fighting larrikins. Pub fights was how i made friends, being autistic making friends is hard but making enemies is easy, my no sense of social Queues or having no feelings like norms means i say shit the offence but its 100% truthful people dont like the truth, where i can't lie takes to much time to think and remember what shit was said. Oh yer and America Australian 80's 90's music trumps you're music and its still better then your new stuff. Only thing America is good for is movies and for the rest of the world to watch and laugh and see what not to do
Comedy Company..... You couldn't do this now for fear of everyone being offended. This troupe of comedians MADE life down under in the late 1980's. They were so great at what they did. I love you all for what you did at the time!!
I was born to enjoy the comedy just a decade earlier in the form of HOGES... And you can see the influences of Paul Hogan in the Comedy Company as well... ❤❤❤
Still got Mark Mitchell's autograph. We were on the same plane going to Tasmania. My husband and I were visiting my sister. Was Awesome to see Mark Mitchell ,and He kindly signed a paper which I've kept.Comedy Company all the rage at that time.❤
Thank you for sharing these❤🇦🇺 nothing will compare to the Australian tv and lifestyle alot of us remember from the 80s and 90s this is a gem you have created i really appreciate it thank you so much ❤
Thank you so much for uploading these videos 🥰 such a great trip down memory lane. A great show to watch with the whole family and when I was a kid I always look forward to the Con the Fruiterer and Uncle Arthur segments❤❤❤🤣❤❤
In the late 80's, through to the end of 1990 this show (and 'hey hey its saturday') gave an opportunity for 🇦🇺 Australias' greatest comedians to show their talents and get famous. America had lots of Comedy clubs and late night 🌃 shows. But the comedy company was the best breeding ground, and this is a rare 🎁 show you've given us. 💎
As a 10 year old kiwi I videoed these and would watch them with the family all the time. Funniest show ever. That Play House skit is legendary and now I get all the jokes 😂😂.
@@oinkooink if you choose not to be offended by something it ceases to be offensive. Do you think the intent was to be racist or to offend people, or do you think it was a skit everyone sat around and discussed and did it to be funny? Is it offensive when Chris Rock tells a joke involving whites? No. What about when Chris Rock tells a black joke? Nope, because he’s black. But it’s offensive when a white person makes a black joke or does blackface. Grow up and laugh at an obvious joke.
I remember seeing the very first episode of The Comedy Company when it aired on TV - February 16, 1988. Ideal Sunday evening viewing. Mary-Anne Fahey's street-smart, school-hating Kylie Mole character made "bogan" a more common and popular slang term. The final episode aired November 11, 1990. Fond memories of good, clean sketch comedy - something that no longer exists today.
Agape is Greek for fatherly love. I didn’t know that.until a Greek lady told me 5 years ago. When he says it, it sounds like ugupee, but it’s pronounced agapay. So cooooool .😄
I didn't expect to see Kel here lol. TIL Kel knight was already a big star before starring in Kath & Kim. Anyway, I'm glad to discover more about Aussie comedies.
Just watched the skit with the little Girl, can't believe I enjoyed IT like when I was a kid,I didn't injoy Kylie mole teenager skit like I did As a kid. AND was surprised to see The Guy from Kath and Kim who plays Kim's husband 😮😅
I'll never forget being a lad of the 80's, getting a job at Fairfax in the mid 2000's and watching a Sexual Harrasment traing video that starred no other than Mark Mitchell as the VICTIM of an overly amourous Greek woman that was played DEADLY serious I laughed my fuckin head off (was the only one in the group) that Con the Fruiterer was resigened to such a fate
Preface: huge fan hilarious aussie talent miss it thank you. Not to be woe is me or anything but The Comedy Company & Fast Forward (USA's "In living colour" also) were hugely influential to my funny personality as they were a security blanket of escapism & source of inspiration for making people laugh aka the class clown, in a very fkd up childhood to be frank & crass, sorry. These simple sketch Comedy shows & comedians in general have performed a community service for decades that most may never be aware of except the comedians.. well most of them. The art of making people laugh is a double edge sword. Thanks for this nostalgic hit.
Wonderful memories of good old innocent Ozzie humour with also the likes of Paul Hogan prior to the comedy company, before the insanity of political correctness of profound proportions has helped kill such good talent and entertainment.
I AM a 46 year old female,I Rember the Guy who played Court room Guy Mr carpenter, don't Rember this episode but Rember his face lol 😂😆. I used to enjoy Kylie mole, I Rember the creepy Baby puppet.
27:54 This show was ahead of its time. This is how knowledgeable people are today in the American main stream media and funny enough, the Australia's main stream media follow the same garbage.
I met Russell Gilbert at sexpo in Melbourne i even asked him if he still knows how to do the Craig face expression and he still has gotten that I like it towards myself altogether there 😂 good old gilbo
Haha Sexpo! I went to that in Perth and accidentally left my new dildo on the train 😅The train security were nice enough to track me down and give my bag of goodies back with much laughter doing so 😂😂😂

Spot on, you heard imitations and quotes next day at school. I was a bit like "Kylie" when I was in high school back then lol.
The original Australian meme!😂😂 She goes, she goes, she goes, she just goes! Spitting blood! 😂😂
WATCHING CHRISTMAS DAY IN 2024, LOVE MY AUSTRALIA ❤❤❤
I still say "it wasnt me... it was Dolly!" And no-one has a clue what Im on about. 😂

We need more of this when comedy was fun
OMG🤣 Coln. It's shameful we don't have this kind of comedy on air these days.
It's a bit hard when offence taking is so fashionable.
I’m so old, I remember waiting all week for a new episode. Thanks for the memories 💜🇦🇺
So did I I wouldnt go out the night they were on 😅
Boo it's ya Uncle Arthur isn't it aye

Funny how I can now understand and appreciate how clever these skits still are now as an adult. I was only a tiny kid when this was on.
Classic! Loved it. When tv was worth watching
As a 10 year old kiwi I videoed these and would watch them with the family all the time. Funniest show ever. That Play House skit is legendary and now I get all the jokes 😂😂.
When Australia was at peace with itself and happy go lucky...
Miss the good old days when Australia was a great place to live
So agree😢😢@@kathym1980
How old were you when this show aired?
@ray.shoesmith I was a teenager, the series ran for while.. I would have been about 16
@@kathym1980 Thank you. I was actually directing that at the OP, for some reason I had already put your age at roughly 43-44 yo
Thank you for this!!! Subscribed!!! May the 1980's TV lore never die.
Holy shit this takes me back! This, Fast Forward and Full Frontal was hilarious to me as a kid. Such quality shows.
It's so awesome to see Glen Robbins in blackface too.

🤣😂🤣😂🤣👌❤️I forgot how funny this show was! Thanks for sharing it🤗
I got a good laugh from this old classic comedy 🤣
Who can go past the iconic Con the Fruiterer, and Col'n.
45:14 He barely stifled that laugh after the line about _"kissing a cold, wet, unconscious woman"_ was _"just like being married"_

Agape is Greek for fatherly love. I didn’t know that.until a Greek lady told me 5 years ago. When he says it, it sounds like ugupee, but it’s pronounced agapay. So cooooool .😄
I was born in January 1980 and watched this as a kid with my family every time it was on just like HEY HEY it’s Saturday aussie Aussie 🇦🇺
Used to love this show. Every wednesday nite i vaguely remember?
Yes, definitely mid week TV.
Holds up surprisingly well - one or two flat spots but overall pretty good. Progressive for its time and it shows.
FANTASTIC 😂❤
Great then and great now
Oh wow 🇦🇺♥️thank you love it
Jesus, 1988??? Man I loved this show
Thank you 😁👍👍
Kids today will never understand uncensorshipped media 😂 damn, i miss these days....
Stands the test of time. Quality Comedy 😊😅😂
38:03 That wolf-whistle didn't even distract her 😅

It knocked 60 minutes off the number 1 since 1979.

Memories of sitting outside Glenn's house in Brighton, pulling Bongs.
None of you would understand..
❤😊😂
Take me back 🥺
One of my favorites on TV theses days is home and away
I didn't expect to see Kel here lol. TIL Kel knight was already a big star before starring in Kath & Kim. Anyway, I'm glad to discover more about Aussie comedies.
If I remember correctly, it was on Thursday nights in 1988 and Sunday nights in 1989, up against 60 Minutes.
Just watched the skit with the little Girl, can't believe I enjoyed IT like when I was a kid,I didn't injoy Kylie mole teenager skit like I did As a kid.
AND was surprised to see The Guy from Kath and Kim who plays Kim's husband 😮😅
0:17 I still swear the voice over says "Ian McFaggen" in the intro. Or am I consistently mis-hearing it ?
A time BEFORE PEOPLE GoT OFFENDED over a joke...
Kym Gyngell, you legend. so damn funny!
Funny then,funny now❤😂
Glenn, Kym, Ian, Mark, Russell and crew are Australias best.

Except you spell them all wrong lol.
Roula, Toula, Soula, Voula, Foula and little Agape
Wow Kel & Brett ❤they both great 👍
The first one with the touring cars 😂
I'll never forget being a lad of the 80's, getting a job at Fairfax in the mid 2000's and watching a Sexual Harrasment traing video that starred no other than Mark Mitchell as the VICTIM of an overly amourous Greek woman that was played DEADLY serious

When we were alll not afraid to take the Mick out of each other and ourselves in the name of comedy, without fear of woke retribution....
Took the Mickey. Apart from the black face and Greek stereotyping, it was all innocent. Australia is a racist country.
Yeah, nah mate. Don't believe we ever stopped. That woke shit is American.
Before the 'blow-ins'? Yep
I met Kim gyngell in Melbourne when I was waiting for a tram 🚊 very very nice bloke
Fabulous! Where are they now??
I wonder what happened to some of them, kym gngell, russle gilbert, ian mc fadjen..
Dial a dinos.. wow the memories.
