I saw u2 live at the sphere on October 28Th 3023. The concert film looks just like if the band was really there and playing live right in front of you.
They played a bunch of live shows, but now it's transitioned into an immersive concert film experience without the band actually there. Attended last night and my mind was completely blown. That's saying a lot from someone who's been to over a dozen live shows over the years. It was like 4K hologram… The stage the band, all of it. Completely insane.
I saw this Monday night. I was i the second-last row. It really did look like they were there with the resolution of the screen and the framerate. The only "tell" is that the screens are LED and can't do complete black. So the shadows on the screen are dark grey, compared to the black floor in front of the screen. I suppose OLED screens wouldn't be feasible in the Sphere. With OLED, you probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Because I was so far back, I missed out on the surround effects. They were all above me. I wasn't willing to pay more than $100 to see a movie ;). Highly recommended all around.
Were you in the 200 section? or the 300? It seems you got the best seats in the house, right in front of the center of the screen. Would you say were you sat was the best? Asking bc I am going next month, any insight would be appreciated.
Interesting..it sounds like you recorded this with a stereo microphone as you can hear audience singing along in stereo, yet the band mix through the PA sounds totally mono
I saw it seven times live. Noticed the stage is lit brighter and it started out dark before"zoo station" began before the vocal intro, which never happened live. My question is how is the stage itself presented. Is it shown at the bottom of the sphere screen or is it a seperate projection/led screen to where the stage normally is? Are the stage lighting trusses there or are those also projected? I Was really wondering about this technical issue because it does seem like a real show. Anyone who can address this correctly is welcome to answer.

So its just a film? They don’t play live?

Impressive. So is some of the audience down front...near the stage...actually part of the film? How much area is the film? Its fascinating, really.

I'm sorry, but I don't recall the specific sections. However, the parts you mentioned are likely close to where I was.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to record the full thing because my storage got full on my phone :(

How long is the Film? I’m confused this looks like they are actually on stage 😳
Sorry for the very late reply, but the film was about an hour long.
My god his voice is shot. Oof.
