Industrial product designer here. I don't have actual experience with making puzzles myself, but as far as I know it's a reverse proces. It all starts with an idea and a single piece, and you add single steps at a time to make the puzzle more complicated. Generally, the idea here is that you can only take a single step in order to progress; There are no multiple solutions (maybe unintended solutions, but never planned). As Mr. Puzzle said, it's a "one-way", meaning that you can do a bunch of things, but you only have one way to the solution, which is crucial to making these types of puzzles. Let's give you an example: From the look of the sword after he pulled it out, I would guess that the shape of the sword started like this. It's the base of the puzzle to which we will add. This is most of the time "just an idea". Let's add two bars running on the sides to keep it locked in, where the two bars slide into the "pockets" of the S-shaped sword frame. This is already a 3-step "puzzle" (slide the two bars out, then pull the sword out). Now, we can add a step, by adding a bar perpendicular to these added two bars. We've now added a 4th step to our puzzle, where we now need to remove the newly added bar first in order to solve it. We can keep on adding steps like these, constantly repeating the steps up to here to confirm that the puzzle is still possible (e.g. If we add a fifth step, we repeat step 4 to 1 again to verify that each of these steps can still be performed). This is "easily" done with 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks, by making use of "save states" in assemblies, modifying a part and then walking back and forth through all the steps. Of course, you'll still need serious spacial insight & creativity to create these puzzles. It's not something you'll do overnight and can take many weeks in order to make puzzles of sizes like these, as the more steps you add to the puzzle, the higher the risk becomes that you create a "gap" somewhere, allowing you to skip a couple of steps, etc. - It's crucial to keep checking every single step by undoing and redoing as you toy with the shape of the pieces. It's very important to give your puzzle to other people during the design process, as they might find one of these gaps for you, or do something you haven't intended and have overlooked. This is of course still an intepretation of how these puzzles are designed. If you want to know with 100% guarantee how they've done it, you need to find an actual puzzle designer. :)

Hi Mr. Puzzle! I watched all of this video and I am amazed how complicated this puzzle and solution are! Congratulations for solving it, and congratulations to the brilliant mind that created it.
I watched the complete video. It was fascinating. I can't say I followed it, but I remember a similar puzzle, without the frame, that I solved as a kid. I know this is from two years ago, but hey, I still liked it. Thank you!
You're dedication to solving this puzzle is admirable. I can only assume, but it must've taken you a long time to get there. One small thing, my dear compatriot: You're applying quite a bit of german grammar to your english, like at 7:37 "You get now an idea" (Du kriegst/bekommst/hast jetzt eine/n Idee/Eindruck). You do that at a few points. Also, there a few instances at which you forget to put an "s" at the end of verbs that describes the action of a third person subject, e. g. 21:15 "Now... It fall(s) apart,..." "He, she, it, the 's' must fit" comes to mind. I enjoyed watching. I'm always fascinated by people having the necessary skill to solve these kinda things.
I am soo happy that you did this puzzle :) I watched the whole video as well, it was very confusing for sure. I first saw this puzzle attempted by Chris Ramsey I think but he wasn't able to solve it, that it why I asked for this video. We all knew that if it was possible that you would do it! Great job Mr. Puzzle.
I watched from start to finish. It completely boggles my mind that you were able to achieve this feat. At all. Nevermind the fiddly bits! You did that! You could feel. Sense. And conquer excalibre. Remarkable. I can't even comprehend how you did that. Well done, all the same.
Feel like this challenge is more about being an exercise in patience than it really is "solving" a puzzle. Having the patience and mental fortitude to sit down, focus and commit to conquering it is what I find impressive about it. A lot of the moves are done blindly as throughout much of the puzzle--you cannot see what is going on inside. It's more of a battle of will than it is anything else in my opinion.
Omg when were saying “up here .. over here .. now down here ... this one down now this up ...yeah ... “ I swear I was on the edge of my seat the sword was coming out 😂😂😂 this happened many times 😂😂😂 I’m exhausted as heck at the end 🤣🤣🤣! Great vid mr puzzle ! Salute ! 🙌👍🤗

Ive come back to this video over and over. I have watched a minimum of 10 times. I am waiting for this puzzle to come back into production.
Someone needs to send this to Chris Ramsey 😂😂
Ethan Strain He will see it. Then his video will come out in about 2 months.
you can just ask for the solution on the site where you order the puzzle, so he doesn't need tje video to solve it if he just want the solution
No, just to step up his attempt, because he hasn't tried it in a while.
He's already uploaded a video of him attempting it. But he gave up and said he will do another video later when he finally gets it.
He said he's tried it many times. But will only upload the video if it is solved.
Now make a video of how to put the wooden blocks, back in.
EXTREMELY IMPRESSED MR. PUZZLE. GREAT VIDEO!!
That's one of my favourite burr puzzles! It's extremely tricky, but satisfying to fiddle with. You should try other burrs, they're very relaxing to watch.
Your giggles when you got a tricky move right are precious.
U can make the word excalibur with the peices
Wow I got highlighted
@@wafflemaker4922 no you didn't
Oof
Lmao "getting highlighted" isn't a thing. When you receive notifications about somebody liking or replying to your comment youtube just "highlights" your comment for you so you don't have to go digging for it.
Wow I got highlighted
If he lived in the dark ages, Arthur would have never been king
Yep, he would still today try to extract the damn sword. Unless he dies of old age.
🤣
LUcky Beast
The legend says that King Arthur will return. Is Mr Puzzle the Once and Future King?
I watched this all the way to the end. I remember seeing another channel try to tackle this one, but failed. At first, I thought that maybe the notification I got was indicating that the channel in question finally solved it, but I was practically glued to my seat watching you solve this. Congratulations! Very nice sword design, there.
Admittedly, now I need to ask: would reassembling this puzzle require its own video?
anonormale well I wasted my time and went to yours but I don't see it on there, its now 2 days later
CitfosIla Yes.
Same
Parrie Jenkins Don't know how to play the video in reverse
Same 😂
Nicely done, as usual. Tried to stay with it until the end, but fast forwarded the last five minutes of the disassembly.
Hi Mr. Puzzle ... May I thank You for Fixing Chris Ramsay's Excalibur Puzzle ... I saw Your Congratulations written on the shank when He eventually Solved it ... But without You that Wouldn't have Happened ... It is My Joy to Watch You Both take on seemingly impossible to solve Puzzles ...
Thats just crazy hard.... mostly because you can't really see whats going on inside.
Check out Inside3, it's a 3d ball maze inside a box... The hardest box don't even have a diagram to tell you what the maze looks like inside... AND YOU CANT OPEN IT, so if you "get lost" you can't ever restart
@@Mr_Jumbles I used to have a simple puzzle of this type, but all of transparent plastic.
Here after Chris Ramsey's unfortunate accident
Absolutely diabolical. Congratulations! Expect millions of views!👑
I watched the entire video..... but I wanted to see you put it back together! I bet it was just as hard . Great work !
I gotta say, I just found your channel today after finding another guy's channel that also does puzzles, and it's very relaxing watching both of u do these. I'm watching this specific one of yours cause I just watched him attempt it and he couldn't solve it, then I saw that u had a video where u did solve it. I'm about halfway through this video and I'm very impressed so far! I consider myself pretty smart (not trying to brag) and I don't think I could do this puzzle. U must be very intelligent! Love your channel!
This is going to be a little long but i had to say this eventually.. hope you see this. :3
You're amazing and although I don't do puzzles myself, you're great at everything you do.
Your different ways of filming are always interesting to see and keep the video interesting and they look very snazzy, you're an amazingly smart man and I'm sure your intellect extends way beyond puzzles, and I happen to have a soft spot for your accent, so sue me 😅
Your explanations are very thorough and I'm more than happy to see longer videos from you,
Keep being amazing and making time here worthwhile, I might not be a puzzler, but I'll always enjoy Mr Puzzle and his intriguing content.
You might never see this, but you're a great person so I hope it finds it's way to you.
Thank you for being a inspiration for more elaborate thinking at the very least. Enjoy your day and all that follow.
Of course, I see and read this! I always read all comments posted during the first few days!
Thanks a lot for your great feedback. Based on what you said you definately need to try some puzzles yourself!
OH
MY

You're the best!

I really liked the cluck sound made by wood
I watched a lot of people try to sell that puzzle and you have been your only one that’s done great job
Watched the whole thing thought it was very interesting how you put the coloured tape on the pieces! Loved it!
Great video!!
Me: *watches Mr Puzzle complete it*
Me:huh maybe I should try it!
My brain: oh who am I kidding I can’t even solve a Rubik’s cube
A lil underwhelming it's not shaped like a sword 😂
Think they could make that last tricky piece a sheath for the actual sword...
These guys made a puzzle just so that people have to stumble upon the solution and not look it up online but Mr.Puzzle is such a dedicated person to mapping solutions that he memorized the solution anyways
He looked it up prior to filming . That's why the tape is there how would you be able to follow step by step guides if you don't k is what block is which
ThaTraitor oh yeah that makes way more sense
I'm not sure how I got sucked into watching thirty minute puzzle videos but I am simply awestruck at your ability to problem solve through this one specifically. Bravo, sir.
Hi Mr. Puzzle! I watched all of this video and I am amazed how complicated this puzzle and solution are! Congratulations for solving it, and congratulations to the brilliant mind that created it.
Thanks a lot!
I've been doing the Hanayama quartet puzzle for 3 days now and still can't solve it and here you are doing this!
Watched the entire thing. Still have no clue as to what to do, but enjoyed your struggle! Way to keep at it.
Never. Never. I would never solve this puzzle.
12:57 "I know they are stuck, I don't want to break anything"
Foresight 100
I am soo happy that you did this puzzle :) I watched the whole video as well, it was very confusing for sure. I first saw this puzzle attempted by Chris Ramsey I think but he wasn't able to solve it, that it why I asked for this video. We all knew that if it was possible that you would do it! Great job Mr. Puzzle.
If the requirement to draw excalibur was this, we won't have King Arthur's story right now.
WOW! You are definitely a puzzlemaster! I saw one video where the person couldn’t complete it. I watched this from beginning to end.
I watched from start to finish. It completely boggles my mind that you were able to achieve this feat. At all. Nevermind the fiddly bits! You did that! You could feel. Sense. And conquer excalibre. Remarkable. I can't even comprehend how you did that. Well done, all the same.
And in his next video Mr.Puzzle will be walking on water.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did
2 moves for solving it
1: Pick it up
2: throw it on a wall
Tadaaaaaaaa
Actually made me laugh
I can’t believe this is my first time to realize that ta da is spelled dada
@@olbcansat9726 xd now that i see it i spelled it wrong let meh fix it
to skip right to the puzzle solving go to 2:34
Yes, please stop punishing Premium youtubers by having sponsor ads in video, and don't tell me to patreon
Real MVP.
Is Mr. Puzzle the only known person to have solved this puzzle? I did a cursory search through UA-cam for other solution videos, but didn't find any.
Salute ! 🙌👍🤗
U r the chosen one, Mr puzzle, the Arthur of our generation 😂
Sticker: *is bent*
Him: oh no I lost the sticker
Sticker: *gets ripped off*
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I can say, I’ve never skipped forward. Also, I’ve never tried a puzzle but this is very interesting and for me it’s relaxing to watch you solve puzzles! I love this channel! One of my favorites!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 mind blowing, great job! you now need to make a video on how to put them back for a complete success
I always watch this kind of videos without skipping , otherwise its not fun for me
Good Luck putting that shit back Together!!! 😂 😆 🤣
No swearing on my cristian minecraft server
Who’s here after Chris Ramsay tried again but he broke it?
I'm not but I will check the video now though!
Whenever I'm sick (like today), I just watch some of your videos and it really makes me feel better emotionally.
Watched the entire video. Wow great job, so difficult especially the more free play created. Awesome!
