@@shibootyah exactly! Who would prefer Bowie to Silver Spring? There’s no comparison on any level. If nothing else, SS has a downtown, several metro stations and borders a great part of DC. Oh and amazing schools up through the HS level. Not just good elementary schools.
I grew up in SE DC, lived there for 20 years, then lived in PG County for 12 years (Landover, Clinton, Temple Hills, District Heights, Oxon Hill) and have since moved away, and you have told ZERO lies in this video! Perfect description based on my experience. Some people are saying that there are hoods but also high income neighborhoods in the county, which is true, however hood is not just about money, it’s also a mentality that permeates despite the finances. Also as a county, the resources are not there as a whole like in other counties. There are many stores and facilities that you have to go to other counties to access.
I agree, well said. I’m a PG native and moved to Anne Arundel. It’s not perfect where I live buts it’s much better. It’s nice to be somewhere that the hood mentality doesn’t rule… Most of PG County could be great but most don’t care about their community. The hood mentality rules.
Property taxes, public schools? PG County is trash, richest black county in name only. Mo County, hell even Charles County residence money go further than PG
I lived in Prince Georges County most of my grade school life and moved across the Potomac to finish high school in Fairfax County but raised my kids in Charles County. With that being said, you can't generalize the behaviors of people based on the county or area you happen to live in. There is drama everywhere you go and in all counties I just named, there are pockets of poverty if that's what you mean when you say hood. There are sketchy areas of Montgomery county was well. Check out Gaithersburg. Come on now stop it..
I agree...went to elementary school in PG County didn't notice any drama...went to middle school and later in MoCo but there was lots more drama there...I think it's just a distortion since PG County has the 1st or 2nd highest fertility rate in MD and therefore a lower median age and proportionally more younger people than other counties...crime statistics consistently show that younger people around age 15-25 commit proportionally the most crime, younger people have different brains with parts of the prefrontal cortex linked to decision making not fully developed...the younger people in Montgomery County also commit proportionally more crime but there's less younger people there....in the US the White median age is 44 and most common age is 58...a younger White person is like an anomaly they also commit crime like many recent mass shootings in the US have been from young White males
I'm from Oxon Hill MD. I get the gist of what you are saying here. Can't say I agree with it all, but I feel you. There are many in PG that have a lack of self respect and respect for others. Its an attitude that points the fingers outward instead of inward. Thats the main problem with the County. A lack of self accountability for many in the County. You can thrive in PG without question. But many times you will feel like you have to leave the County for a lot of amenities.
Also an observation I’ve had is that PG county natives out there hometown down more than any other city I’ve personally lived in and PG is by far one of the better places in America to live if you’re Black. The “Black side of town” in other cities usually are very run down and/or very small area.
@Mozzarella stick why are areas best suited for African Americans categorized by "flock/herd" mentality of the area being majority black as opposed to being, i.e. affordable and quality school districts, reasonable taxes, a multitude of activities and transit? Last time I checked the Klan isn't after us anymore and we are free to move and live as we wish. Please don't put everyone in that perverbial pot, it's like assuming that we all eat watermelon and fried chicken. I hate collard greens btw.
@@jada7323 I have to 2nd that motion, I settled (purchased my home) in Montgomery County and I love it to pieces. Would never move accept for the fact that it's a condo and I dream of a single family home. Only issue is that here in moco they want a pint of blood and a notarized copy of the registration for your soul as the down payment.
She is generally on point. What I noticed in PG county is that most of it's residents who do not shop outside the county may be thinking they are getting good retail stores. However, for instance Targets, Wegmans, Best Buy. These store tend to be much smaller. Even in so called Upper Middle class developments such as Mitcheville, Bowie, Fortwashington. I used to live in Fairfax county Va. The same stores there and in Montgomery county are much larger and offer more and better items. This is intentional by the retail developers. Part is over all disposable income and part has to with the demographics. Let them think they are getting the best, that way they keep them out of surrounding counties that really don't care for a certain cliental. Read between the lines. Unfortunatley for PG it absorbed much of formal SE D.C residents when the projects were torn down back in the early 2000's. Much of them brought along the culture she speaks on.
Coming from NY, and moved to Maryland for College. I lived in Waldorf, Bowie, Gaithersburg, and College Park..I must say, I love PG County (or should I say the Upper Marlboro/Bowie Area. Going from Bowie to College Park, and back to Bowie. The College Park area is very congested. Rockville and Bethesda is nice, but it is congested there too…On a sidenote, PG has hoods, but the whole county ain’t “hood”. I pass million and multimillion dollar houses on a daily bases; “hoods” don’t have million and multimillion dollar homes..Moral of the story, go where you feel comfortable. Much love
Do you think that because someone builds an expensive home on cheap land, it changes the surrounding communities? Does that erase the rise in teen homicide rates or the rise in teen crime in general? A rate that is so high that governer had to step in? It is very telling that the price of a home is how many of these comments grade a "good area;" not the crime rate, not the overall quality nor any other factors. It's probably why the county is in the states it's in. Perceived individualist wealth over everything.
@@natetinsley3119 - Most migrants live in MoCo and they’re not all owing property. A vast majority live in apartments, if you get my drift. You better hope they approve your home loan to live in MoCo. Red lining has been and will always be real. MoCo really is not all that.
Black folks got fed up with PG and now have moved into Charles county. My friends who live there are fine, but they've been experiencing black on white racism. He fortunately lives in a great high end community with a 50/50 mix of high income black and white neighbors. They just don't want any liberal politics in there.
Let the haters hate...U just saved me/my future...WTF am I tryna stay close by DC/PG...I grew up in the hood but I am NOT Hood....my new blessing & I are coming MoCo Baby💯💯💯💯😛
The irony is that you calling PG county the hood is the problem. I’ve lived around the US, coast to coast - PG has so much history that natives never take into account. PG has been purposely set up to be underserved. I do wish people in the county would demand more of our leaders but the gag is the development companies building PG shopping areas are literally the same ppl building them in Mo Co - so they clearly are catering to white peoples in a way they don’t care to do for the Black folks of Pg county. You and all PG residents have to value the county more AND Demand more. Not to mention PG county was the land giving to freed / ex slaves then redlined and destroyed with the construction of the 95 high way. My real question would be - at what point do we as Blacks build up community (amenities and housing) - vs just mixing in with white ppl. (I know some of y’all LOVE AND VALUE anything white over yourself). But that’s just my point of view - everyone isnt built or just care to create a better place vs just going to live somewhere that has the things they want, which I get but I’m not gonna call the richest black county “the hood” - maybe you just did it for click bait or to drive the point or you just really don’t know what a ghetto slum is. Idk.
Hi I am happy to have ran into a delusional person as you. I don't care too much about the history when guys are getting mambo sauce half and half and causing chaos in PG . PG is the hood , damn right it is a hood a place where tacky, slack and crime is close to you. The " wealth" from the 80's that is still talked about is gone and stats need to be updated. Places outside of Raleigh and Atl easily have more black wealth per Capita. When you go to a nail shop around the corner from wealth there shouldn't be ghetto. Half a million dollar homes in Laurel, Bowie and Cheltenham living around the corner from dread head d boys. Wealth was in the 70' and 80's Those Gov employees bonded out their kids and or grandkids, took loans out against their property and wealth is gone. PG is a joke. MD is a joke. What Suburban community is worse than PG.? Beverly hills CA all of a CA is worse. Owings Mills, Bel Air are better than every place in PG. Looks wise and crime wise. Bowie is a joke the National Harbor came decades late. Laurel weird vibe, crime all the time. PG is what I call don't look too long. You look at nice homes then boom trash and old messed up homes take flight. Aliquippa PA, Carmel IN, Oro Valley AZ are true Suburbs. All of Cali is a joke and PG is a tad better only because there isn't graffiti on Subdivision entrances. ..Personally I would not pay 300k more a year to live MOCO. Glad I don't have to deal with MD. No traffic cameras every 10 seconds and news about Teacher or Sport assistant's hurting kids. There is an angry oppression. I'm not materials but I'm glad for the people that live where they live so nice places can stay nice. Upper Marlboro and Brandywine waiting for hood time. Half a million dollars should by you a pristine beautiful life and it won't in PG , Nova or Moco. I'm not demanding anything from PG when people in real Suburban communities do not go through a quarter of the jive PG county deals with. Lynn MA King of Prussia are demanding a new firehouse budget , I don't know what delusion your in.
My safety is my number #1 priority. Sorry that bothers or upsets you. I won't stay somewhere that has proven to be unsafe for me to make you or anyone else happy. 🤷🏾♀️
PG native here. What good reason would I have to stay in PG and raise my children? Why would I use my children as political ploys to force a change in a system that hasn’t seen change in how many years. School are rated horribly, it’s a food desert, crime etc. why would I subject my kids to that and hope that change will come eventually? Yeah no.. not subjecting my family to that and don’t believe any one else should be expected to either.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat Again, why do you feel you have an obligation to down PG County to boost Montgomery Co? This video is more about you trying to boost your profile or brag about yourself. You also intentionally set out to disrespect people who look like you and I assume your family to get responses. It appears some people will do anything to get clicks and I will admit you may succeed in your effort. I hope this video isn't a confession of self hate but just a ploy by someone trying to drum up business for herself, which is also abhorrent.
I’m DMV through and through. I’ve lived in Riverdale, NE DC. NW DC, Gaithersburg, Germantown, and now Im living in NC. With that said Mo Co has its faults and crime as well. Mo Co is very diverse no doubt but to your point there is more money in the country so you can price out some of the trouble. Maybe as black woman your experiences are different with the police in Mo Co but as a black male mine were far different for that headlight being out. Oh and I was driving a BMW. Bethesda, Rockville, Chevy Chase, and parts of Gaithersburg are really nice. Pg county also has plenty of nice neighborhoods. Upper Marlboro and Bowie has some very nice neighborhoods, shopping areas, etc. There are plenty of successful blacks in PG county that don’t live in the hood. Glenarden was a little rough at one point but Laurel is not the hood. * I also gave you a like for your video even though I don’t completely agree with your assessment of the area.
Thank you for the like and the view. Personally, I have had to deal with the police on many occasions on behave of employees who at this point have mostly been Black men and some Black women. At no point we’re any of them arrested, even when some had every right to be, or miss treated. I just want to clarify that may experience with police in MoCo isn’t just on my behalf. There are a few nice neighborhoods but my point was to mostly speak to the mentality and how people miss treat one another. I would love to here your opinion on that. I also forgot to add the customer service is terrible in PG. As far as Laurel, while I lived there 2 people were murdered in my neighborhood. One was found chopped up in a body bag and the other shot in the head and left in a car. My neighbors also got raided by the police, had a knock out drag out fight on the front lawn and sold weed. And I could go on and on. There is plenty I left out because the miss treatment was really what I wanted to highlight. I just didn’t want to feed into stereotypes. I appreciate the feedback but, respectfully, I think my assessment of Laurel is pretty accurate.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat I completely understand what you mean when you speak of the mentality of people nowadays but it’s not exclusive to certain areas. I’ve gotten attitude in nicer areas in the DMV and in NC where I currently live. This is more of a “people” problem. When we talk about customer service it’s horrible everywhere even when you are truly trying to go out of your way to be nice. Chick-fil-a maybe the exception to that in the fast food industry. They tend to be pretty consistent across the board. We also could go on for days talking about the crime as well. A lot of that has to do with how it’s reported. There is crime in Laurel just like it is in Chevy Chase or Rockville. How is it reported to the public? Go on line and pull up the calls dispatched in your area and I’m sure there is a lot more going on than what’s being reported. Let’s be honest we know what the huge difference is in PG vs Mo Co….. It’s the same thing that’s happening to Waldorf in Charles county. There are plenty of safe places to live in the state of Maryland. Just understand you are your own first responder. Your own fireman, police officer, and medic. To some degree this is what a lot of people wanted.. defund the police.. well what’s going to happen with the crime numbers? Now they just respond and many aren’t being proactive in fear of losing their job. ✌🏽 queen!
@@mrhkp2000 When all the above things I mentioned starts happening in my neighborhood I may see your point. But until then we can agree to disagree. All things aren't equal. Some places are better than others. The county is majority Black with high Black wealth. They fund the police and many PG officers are Black. It makes no sense that the police aren't influenced by the people who live there. But that's another conversation.
I subbed to the channel. To help the unfamiliar viewer that might be relocating. First, Hyattsville zip code has been spread out to cover so many different areas of PG. As a result, Hyattsville isn't ghetto or hood but there are some predominantly minority areas that are less desirable than other parts of the DMV. I bought a home in PG county and lived in DC as well. The only difference is Montgomery has poured back into their communities unlike PG as it pertains to stores and shops. PG county just doesn't have the "spots" to supply the entertainment value. That's sad with all the expendable income these households have. Living in the Silver Spring/ North Bethesda area is light years ahead of anything in PG county outside of the National Harbor/MGM
@@leannewheeler5351 PG has nothing on VA! I don’t understand that move either. It gets no better than VA in every way. And I don’t live there, I bought in DC but I love VA. It’s the clean, safe, great customer service place to be!
I agree with her 1000 percent. I’m planning to leave PG county within the next few years. She said something that struck a chord and it’s something I’ve noticed in the area as well. Lots of FAKE thugs who will disrespect you and don’t want any smoke back. They’re playing a very very dangerous game. If you take that mentality to the cities such as LA, Bmore, Philly, Oakland, Memphis, etc. you will get dealt with. What she’s saying is 1000 percent true. I’ve personally observed that in this county.
Very well said. I have spent vacation time in both PG County and Montgomery County. I can honestly say I have to agree, on the point that people are so much nicer in Montgomery County. Everyone and I mean everyone spoke to me. This was surprising as well as super nice. This had never happened to me before. So yes I would definitely live in Montgomery County . The area is much nicer as well.
Are you really worried about if a person speaks to you or not in life?? I speak to people and I don't get even hear them say nothing back they type of thing doesn't bother me at all
When I visited Maryland I found that most of Black folks that populate it are government employees active and retired. The government I saw everywhere was almost all black employees. This is probably why they earn good money.
Hey I just want to say I love your video. I’m not from PG or Montgomery county. I grew up in Ellicott city which is obviously Howard County and I was born in Columbia, MD but being from Maryland of course I know all the PG stereotypes. And sadly I have to agree with most of them but I know there are a few nice areas in the county but yes Montgomery is much nicer and I wish you all the luck in your success I’stand behind you 100%.
I felt everything you said in this video to my core. I grew up in PG and moved after college (not far, my husband and I bought a home in MoCo) and the change is drastic and I love it here. I never considered raising my family in PG as it truly didn’t make sense to and the cons out weighed the pros. My kids love their schools and my husband and I truly enjoy our area overall!
Lived in Clinton (that was my first job in DMV back in 2015), Hyattsville, DC (Brookland), Hyattsville, Silver Spring, and now Rockville. I totally agree with Goldilock. I'll never go back to PG, or any oh the other places I lived before. I LOVE Montgomery County!
I moved to PG 16 years ago from Honolulu. I’m ready to move to another county in Md or back to Oahu. She speaks the truth about this aspect of the DMV.
Wow! I have lived in Maryland since 1992 to include PG county for 10 years. You paint such a dismal picture. I agree that some areas are bad; however, some areas of your glorious Montgomery County are bad as well. Personally, per capita there are Maryland counties that are “richer” than Montgomery County. Personally, I left PG County to lower my cost of living and did not stop until I reached Washington County. I think it is all in what “style” of living you want, and tolerance.
Hi! I used to follow your hair channel years ago. Didn't expect to see you with locs! They look great! Beautiful community! We have to remember that we deserve the best!
Have you lived in Bowie , Mitchellville or Woodmore ?? They come up as the wealthiest places for minorities and one of the safest places to live in MD. Laurel and Hyattsville I agree ain’t it . 😂😂
The best places in PG are Bowie , Woodmore and Mitchellville . Bowie even comes up as one of the safest places to live in MD. I agree that some other areas are questionable and not safe but not all of PG is ghetto. The only reason why I moved is because of the ridiculous property and business taxes . My husband is a multimillionaire he was like wits a no .
Omg! You are my best friend now….. I’m from Fort Washington Md ! … I mean I left too but lol I had no choice lol… yea Fort Washington is said to be the richest in the black community… .. Oxon Hill… shout out!!!!! …
I left pg county in the beginning of 2017 lived there for 18yrs of my life never going back. And my friends at t that time were pissed at me for moving to Montgomery county lol I don’t need that stress.
You are so right it’s so refreshing to be surrounded by success and Black Excellence - I don’t blame you one bit- seems ppl always want to make you feel guilty for feeling better about removing yourself outta that crabs in barrel environment- like your supposed to stay there and fight your way out of that barrel everyday- no way your a smart young lady- you made the best decision ever- Best wishes ❤
Prince George County is in Virginia. Prince Georges county in Maryland. That being said, the issue is the mentality of many in the county. However, go to Wheaton, silver spring etc and you will see the same damn thing. Montgomery county have its issues as well.
Often times, the men who you associate yourself with are a reflection of who you are. It seems as though, “based on the information I’ve gathered from you” have a promiscuous tendency. What more do you expect from people? Slow down and enjoy life a little 😅. You are constantly on the go. Not enough time to experience the good things in life because you’re always searching for an unrealistic standard that even yourself can’t achieve. Calm down. Be easy. Weigh the pros and cons, and you’ll eventually find out, that you are doing better than 95% of people on the planet.
Concerning people. You attract what you are. Wherever you move, you will attract the same thing. For some people it’s not the environment it’s the person.

When I experience the same amount of crime in MoCo that I experienced in PG, I'll think about that. Until then, I will enjoy my safety. I've been here for years now and still haven't experienced 1.
It's funny you talk about "fake thugs" in PG because I went to a party in Olney MD and we had to fight these lame MoCo dudes because they thought we stole their liquor..we ended up whooping their ass and they got arrested 😅 but I know that was probably an outlier experience
@@GoldilocksDoesThat 😅 yes I am from PG.. but those dudes were definitely the aggressors in that situation..they accused us of something we didn't do and then they kept acting tough even though we said we didn't want any trouble..but once dude tried to put his hands on me..it was over for them 😅
@@twizzum5 Sorry that happened to you. Bad things happened everywhere including in MOCO. @@GoldilocksDoesThat duh..its a known fact moco is a rich county...never disputed that..a lot of people in PG ain't broke either though..and that furthers my point..they live in this rich ass area and they tried to act gangsta for no reason
I feel like everything you said can be also attributed to HBCU. There’s a stark divide in the way that people act at my school you can tell who’s suburban, who’s from the suburbs but trying to act hood and who’s actually from the hood. I also felt like people from the suburbs and the inner city hood don’t always tend to hangout with eachother. But overall it’s mentality and demeanor. I have a rich cousin from Summit NJ (a very expensive upscale nj neighborhood) and she acts so ghetto it’s not even funny. But what’s crazy is that she talks trash and down on ghetto people when she acts like one. Being poor doesn’t make you hood and having money doesn’t mean your not ghetto either.
DC native here - PG county is not the hood and I wish people would stop perpetuating that nonsense. Is it good because it is predominantly Black? What is the reasoning behind this rhetoric?
I'm from the hood myself so i understand and I would never forget where I came from and I would visit my people if I ever move in a beautiful home out here in Maryland or out of state
You couldn't catch me in certain parts of MO or PG county at night. There are plenty of area's that don't have a culture of conflict in PG. But it doesn't sound like you lived in any of them. Additionally, plenty of successful people live in PG, meaning you don't have to leave to be successful. Never been through what you've been through in PG as far as random beef and 5 cop cars... but that's your experience. You can keep MO and the traffic. I'm from there, plenty of fam still there and I hate visiting them. I'm thinking about coming back to PG... lived in AA and CC for the last 10 years. Enjoy MO!!! Everyone should be happy in their choices!

No no. P.g is not hood. There are good neighborhoods and bad neighborhoods. You’re still young, at times your job will dictate your location. Latinos are taking over the county as AA are running. PG county is never going anywhere so long as the government building stays in D.C. Let’s not come back 10yrs from now and say someone pushed us out. Go where your heart feels but remember your still young. I was like you once. Started at Mo college. I ran to Gaithersburg traffic left me beat. Ran to Alexandria off Edsall Rd. But coming into DC to party and hand with friends had me asking myself why was out there while my social life was elsewhere. I’ve seen the hood in inner city Baltimore. I have rentals there. That’s the hood. -- BTW After having traveled to China 🇨🇳 , Singapore 🇸🇬 and UAE 🇦🇪, one can argue AMERICAN IS THE HOOD.

Good for you! Its great that you found a place that is better. There is no virtue in staying in a dangerous area just because its where you're from. I never step foot in PG. The way I see it is that if you're not from there stay the fuck out of there. The easiest way to judge an area is by its schools, everytime I watch the local news and some shit is going down it's ALWAYS the kids at a school in PG County. 😅

Okay after my second watch! I can definitely see this from her personal perspective based on the people she interacted with during her 3-year time frame combined with the locations she lived in while within PG county. From my own personal perspective; being someone who grew up in Prince George's County! I never quite looked at it in this manner or in a prism closely antiquated enough to provide conversation or commentary on such an opinionated defining topic or view point. My UA-cam name expresses my experience as a Prince George's County native. I grew up in the DMV! I am a native of the DMV! I am from Prince George's County! But like most people from PG County! I spent and spend time in Montgomery County, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Baltimore. No offense but the places you named in Prince George's County are the hoods or worst financial parts of the surrounding areas. PG County has several gated communities with both mega and mini Mansions as big as and much bigger than the ones you're showing in the video! These leads to the biggest advantage of PG County which is its location especially if you have money! Because you can get property that is 15 to 45 minutes away from everything in the DMV and that's with severe traffic. I love DC, Rockville, Silver Spring, Laurel, Bowie, College, Park, Alexandria, Potomac, Ashburn, Landover, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, Frederick and Baltimore County cool too! PG county is cool but like I said I'm from the DMV Soo my perspective may be a little different than yours.
I’m in DC closer to Georgetown/Silver Spring MD. I lived near PG county in DC but it wasn’t for me for two 1/2 years. Still in DC because my daughter is in school. Not all of PG is hood but you are going to run into some hood ish enough. You are right about PG county Police. I don’t like them at all. They just be lurking..👀 deep.. As a Baltimorean, I always felt PG "hood" folk had such an identity crisis. Prince Georges was and should be calm and serene suburb mixed with it's southern/country roots that was there originally yearss ago and still is to a very negligible degree. For some reason, the unnecessary crime and fu-kery I hear about doesn't match the area. Baltimore's outer suburbs just don't have that vibe, even some inner ring suburbs are just chill. You know what's bad in Baltimore, no surprises. For what it is worth, I don't care for Montgomery County. So much about about it feels like undeserved wealth; it is missing authenticity. I feel that way about much of the areas that touch DC. With that said, there is an air of cleaniless and safety and prosperity that comes with it being a monied region, and that is attractive.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat Your clown for going on a whole county and your a suburb nerd. Those areas you need are the decent side of the county. It's not Eastover, Suitland, Capital heights, southern Ave. Throw you in East Baltimore you probably crap your pants
Are you Ethiopian or Somalian? Silver Spring has a thriving Africans. SE is also Capital Hill still. The black people are not the cause at all. Its the Redlining and it's in every city .... The farther you go away from DC the better life is. Actually it's best to leave the state of MD you can get way more space for the cost to live near DC by going further away from the DMV....it's better places to live. May you release that disharmony and heal and enjoy the new place ❤ in joy and peace. The area you are showing in the video....I know the area an X has several houses in the community but he is not a good brotha at all ...so money can't buy everything...but peace is priceless....😅and he can go to those millions of dollar homes without me ...
1. Neither 2. Cool 3. OK 4. OK 5. I'm happy where I live but you can leave if it pleases you. 6. Over 6 cities are shown in the video. You'll have to be more specific. 7. Thank you. I hope you gain the ability to allow others to live safely without it offending your sensibilities. And may you also learn to speak directly instead of using passive-aggressive flowery well wishes that are not sincere.
it's nice in most parts in pg so I'm not from this part of Maryland and I don't have a problem with it Even though I want a house some day .beautiful home you have
To a degree, she's right, there are places in MoCo that are not this Oasis she's speaking. Also Many of the incidents she's speaking of are happening all over the DMV. Carjackings, robberies, shopliftings and shootings happen in downtown Bethesda as well and we won't even mention Silver Spring, that's off the chain. The mentality of people and mindset has to change. Just because you change PG Plaza to the Mall at Prince Georges Crossing makes no difference. There are some great spots in College Park on Rt 1 and Bowie in PG ,That rank way ahead of Gaithersburg, Md in MoCo.
Being from DC and used to live in PG, its ghetto because of the proximity to the fuckery of DC itself. You aren't wrong in your assessment lol. MOCO, St. Mary's and Anne Arundel are your best bet.
We can either take pride in and care for the reputations of our communities, or continue to buy into, and propagate the narrative that our best is somehow inferior, less than, or sub par. Your post is the musings of a colonized mind. Prince George's has traditionally been considered one of the best and brightest predominately Black counties in the USA, yet you choose to categorize it as "the hood." For perspective, many of the Northern Virginia counties surrounding D.C. are ranked in the top 10 (out of 981 counties) with respect to per-capita income in the nation; with Loudon County being #1, Falls Church #2, and Fairfax #5. MoCo is ranked #20 (mostly due to Potomac and Bethesda), with Charles County in Maryland recently outpacing PG as the richest predominately Black community in America at #39. Folks in NOVA most likely view MoCo as the hood in comparison to their communities. And most importantly, none of them are predominately Black. Since you seem to think that Black is less than; do you think your neighbors in MoCo see you as an asset or a liability? Wake up sister.
Which city in Montgomery would you recommend for a single Black woman who doesn’t likes a mixture of suburb and city, the arts, theatre, restaurants, nice parks?
For those activities, your best bet is Silver Springs. However, since it is on the border of DC, the crime is a lot higher, and as is the traffic. If that's a concern for you, I would say Gaithersburg. The Rio area is very nice with lots of activities. But even Germantown and Rockville are good bets. All of those cities have quick access to outlet shopping, wineries, countless lakes, trails, orchards (if you are into picking fruit), and many restaurants. There is a theater for the performing arts in Rockville/Bethesda. Tysons is a surprisingly short drive, as is Charlestown if you are into the races. Also, a bit off topic but something that may interest you, MoCo is EXTREMELY biotech friendly which means there are ALOT of biotech companies from cancer research to agriculture. Making for a very interesting mix of people from all over the world. Gaithersburg was voted as 1 of the top 5 most cities for diversity in the US. Great place to live. I highly recommend it
"The hood" may have some redeeming value to it, after all...perhaps we must reconsider what the "hood" is. DMX had a song about this. Overall, I know many professionals in PG and I've had many interesting experiences there. PG can be a beautiful place. I'm white.
So your social economic status forced you to live in “hood” places in PG County. Meanwhile, I own in a gated community $1M+ home and I love it. My neighbors are great and we all love each other, literally we do. So… level up your $$ vs bashing an entire county lol. It’s you, not the county
Right, the skyrocketing high crime in your county to the point where the governer had to step in is all good with you as long as you're living well behind a gate .lol I'd rather live in a place where I don't have to pay attention to which side of the street I'm on to be safe...a place where I nor the people in my community need to live behind gates to sleep at night. Ya'll prove me right whenever you post. I made this video years ago. Thank you for confirming I made the right decision. Enjoy your summer.
I moved from Silver Spring, MD (Montgomery County) to Bowie, MD (Prince Georges County) and never been happier.
Bowie is one of the safest places to live in MD as it says in google .
I’m the opposite, I prefer Silver Spring. The education and lifestyle is unmatched. And more amenities and closer to everywhere anyone wants to be.
A lot less crowed and traffic for sure, minus the 301 traffic 🤦🏾♂️
Who in the county paid you to write this😂
@@shibootyah exactly! Who would prefer Bowie to Silver Spring? There’s no comparison on any level. If nothing else, SS has a downtown, several metro stations and borders a great part of DC. Oh and amazing schools up through the HS level. Not just good elementary schools.
I own a place in Oxon Hill, MD. It makes me $. I live in Honolulu. Life is good
MoCo is cool, but she's making it out to be a utopia or something.
Exactly!
I agree, well said. I’m a PG native and moved to Anne Arundel. It’s not perfect where I live buts it’s much better. It’s nice to be somewhere that the hood mentality doesn’t rule…
Most of PG County could be great but most don’t care about their community. The hood mentality rules.
it's nothing wrong with pg County it self the type of people you deal with would be the problem at times, anywhere you go it's bad not just pg County.
Property taxes, public schools?
PG County is trash, richest black county in name only. Mo County, hell even Charles County residence money go further than PG
@@TMHYAH Out of the 3 counties which one would you say most affordable AND safe ?
I lived in Prince Georges County most of my grade school life and moved across the Potomac to finish high school in Fairfax County but raised my kids in Charles County. With that being said, you can't generalize the behaviors of people based on the county or area you happen to live in. There is drama everywhere you go and in all counties I just named, there are pockets of poverty if that's what you mean when you say hood. There are sketchy areas of Montgomery county was well. Check out Gaithersburg. Come on now stop it..
Drama is everywhere. ❤
Mozzarella stick not PG. as a PG native I can tell you that.
@@jada7323 I have to 2nd that motion, I settled (purchased my home) in Montgomery County and I love it to pieces. Would never move accept for the fact that it's a condo and I dream of a single family home. Only issue is that here in moco they want a pint of blood and a notarized copy of the registration for your soul as the down payment.
nate tinsley my husband and I bought a home in moco after we got married as well! Couldn’t think of a better place to raise our family!
The crime rate in Bowie is very low . Bowie , Woodmore and Mitchellville are ranked one of the best places to live in MD.
There are some bad spots in Mo County
True. Mainly down county
I love how transients speak of this area as if they've been here their whole life. MOco really isn't all that

Black folks got fed up with PG and now have moved into Charles county. My friends who live there are fine, but they've been experiencing black on white racism.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat what county is this?
@@GoldilocksDoesThat facts! 💯
Laurel is shitty.

I agree with you. I lived in PG for 10 years, Charles co for 23 years, now I live in Baltimore City and have met the nicest, most approachable ppl here in Baltimore.✌🏾
Laurel has some nice areas as Montgomery County has some bad areas. PG County is one of the wealthiest counties for African Americans and has rich history. Glad you found your happy place but know that crime and -isms exist everywhere; you will still face it. Enjoy your next chapter
So you came to Moco, stole some L and beat people up...sounds like you're from PG to me. 🤣
However that does not take away from the fact that there is a lower crime rate and higher average household income in MOCO. People are jumping out of Maserati's and Bentley out here and people are jumping out of Chargers and Crown Vics in PG. The quality of life is just better. It is what it is.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat duh..its a known fact moco is a rich county...never disputed that..a lot of people in PG ain't broke either though..and that furthers my point..they live in this rich ass area and they tried to act gangsta for no reason
@@GoldilocksDoesThat I live in eastover, come to southern ave and think that 🤣
Prince George's is an awesome county. It's all about the people who you surround yourself with
The bougie people of PG are not even cool. The black politicians and leaders there are cutthroat.
False. Had to move out of PG, trash, high taxes but worst schools crime rate insane
I hear about so much crime in Montgomery county
I experienced so much crime in PG
Love the video, however, you should talk more about prices. Who can afford to live in Montco?
there are 2 different Montgomery countys just like pg.....Potomac Bethesda elevate the income
DC native here - PG county is not the hood and I wish people would stop perpetuating that nonsense. Is it good because it is predominantly Black? What is the reasoning behind this rhetoric?
I'm from the hood myself so i understand and I would never forget where I came from and I would visit my people if I ever move in a beautiful home out here in Maryland or out of state
Be careful with that visit stuff. Unless you’re looking to drive. There’s jealous people that you may even know.
Don’t visit it’s not worth it …..
Montgomery County is oh okay I've been there onces and whats is it really to do there?
Shopping, food, farmers markets, upscale movie theaters, music halls, etc
Best of luck to you and PG.
Overall, Howard County is the wealthiest county in MD and the sixth richest in the nation.
Correct but as far as reinvestment in the community and overall lifestyle I prefer MOCO.
If I do ever move out of Prince George's then I'd like to move to Howard County. I really like that area. It's beautiful out there.

You are right about the difference I. Pg go Md and Montgomery co Md .
Ever tried Wilkes-Barre,pa or maugansville,MD great areas with good amount of business minding colored folks but not much yet very Friendly, I found 2 jobs in each area within 2 weeks without trying to hard and yes I'm also lightskin😁
Every area has it bad spots you don't wanna be in a some point. I can bet she'd be the one on the news saying THAT TYPE OF THING NEVER HAPPENS AROUND HERE!!!oh yeah its happening now
@danielmatthews4992 When something happens, I'll let ya'll know. Four years and counting and not one incident.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat well that's what we call luck of the draw but like the Cypress hill song says when the ish goes down you better be ready. I wish everyone could remain untouched as far as crime goes but be real it's taking place in and on every place on earth. Be safe not blind

Excellent and honest observation. all should be inspired to invest in themselves and leave the old belief and mindset behind and start anew! 1st step invest on yourself!
The way you say “MONT”-gomery County 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know of someone who got shot and killed over a gas pump.
I'm almost 40 years old. 😂 It's not about age. We just have a difference in opinion. I agree that Baltimore is way worse than PG but I have no desire to reside their either.
More power to any PG residents. We just won't be neighbors.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat I think she meant you sounded young by your vernacular. You sound childish and ghetto. I always say it’s good people like you leave so more cultured people who contribute to society can move in. You seem disrespectful and not a nice person to have as a neighbor. You’re running from yourself.
@@GoldilocksDoesThat No can’t be neighbors. You’re a 40yr old woman still running around and haven’t established any roots. Definitely not. You’re a wayward woman.
I'm not from PG but I agree wholeheartedly.
I grew up in the south side of Queens 👑 with a stop in the South Side of Yonkers. Oh is heaven compared to Yonkers NY and Queens 👑. Now I'm in Columbia MD. I miss NY at times. PG county is good with me ☺️. some dumb as tried to steal my begal my other dog Rhodesian Ridgeback starts growling.
I lived in both dc and in germantown, maryland and I can say that Montgomery county is better than dc or atleast the black parts and its better than pg
if i lived there in those places in pg i would leave too.
So you understand where I'm coming from 🤣
What I mean is those places in PG you mentioned aren’t the pick of the litter if you know what I mean
@House6163 Right, which is why I left.
I saw Gaithersburg on the building are you saying that is a good place to live,?
I think it's a wonderful place to live. It was voted one of the most diverse places to live and has a high quality of life, specifically for Black people. I highly recommend it.
I been there one time, they have an upper-middle-class place in California like BTW.
I aspire to be a UA-camr with 100k subscribers and just recently bought tripods and camera’s and equipment for content. I want to film content at nightclubs and lounges in MOco. Have any recommendations on good spots to go ?
Idk if there are many clubs in MoCo. I don't go to clubs very much.
🗣️Damn!👁️.👁️I couldn't even focus on what she was saying.👀🤔😂😂😂
Now if you venture out towards Richie Road|Drive where the shopping centers and Dave and Busters you will get a better experience. I heard that the best schools are in Montgomery County . I know I’m late but you just flowed through my algorithm and I clicked on your page. Good luck
Reston Va is the best place to live in the DMV
Not with that traffic
@@GoldilocksDoesThat If you live out here its no traffic to work. This is the perfect place to live. Google Reston, If your an IT professional, there are 100s of Data centers, beautiful malls, from Reston to Leesburg, foodies, ect This area cannot be matched anywhere in the DMV. 15 min from Tysons also. Im from SE DC
@@GoldilocksDoesThat Not true. Google Reston. Jobs fun place to live eat ect.
@GoldilocksDoesThat no traffic in Reston. If you live outside of Fairfax county. More jobs here than anywhere
@Equalforall2024 I lived in VA for 6 years; not Reston, though. While I did enjoy Alexandria City and Pentagon City, VA, as a state, isn't somewhere I'd like to live again.
Reston is too far out, and trying to fight traffic just to get close to the city isn't for me. Plus, the yearly vehicle tax and inspections aren't something I'm interested in.
Plus IMO you get a better quality of life in MoCo at a slightly lower price. I have nothing bad to say about Reston, but it's not for me personally.
PG county is not the fucking hood.
Lol
Come Slide through Riverdale 6800 block since we not the hood I be waiting for you Jon Griffin!!

What neighborhood were you driving through with the west elm, Sephora and LL bean?
Pike & Rose
Pike & Rose is a fairly new development off Rockville Pike. It’s really nice. Lots of restaurants and a high end bowling alley.

it's nice in most parts in pg so I'm not from this part of Maryland and I don't have a problem with it Even though I want a house some day .beautiful home you have
I thought you were from NYC for some reason. Good video
Really? I’ve been told I sound “country” by New Yorkers 🤣. Thanks for watching.
Agreed
Being from DC and used to live in PG, its ghetto because of the proximity to the fuckery of DC itself. You aren't wrong in your assessment lol. MOCO, St. Mary's and Anne Arundel are your best bet.
🤣🤣🤣
St. Mary’s…might as well move to Iowa. Far as hell.
@@laurenxo6503 😂😂😂 it is
We can either take pride in and care for the reputations of our communities, or continue to buy into, and propagate the narrative that our best is somehow inferior, less than, or sub par.
This is click bait.. 😂 Based on where she lived and her income level at that time, most places you live maybe the be hood.
How is it clockbait if you're saying the places are the hood? 🤣
I highly recommend it
@@GoldilocksDoesThat Wow! Thank you so much. This is really helpful. I’m hoping to make my move to Maryland this year. Thanks again.
Keep in mind most people that live in p.g. aint from p.g.
"The hood" may have some redeeming value to it, after all...perhaps we must reconsider what the "hood" is. DMX had a song about this. Overall, I know many professionals in PG and I've had many interesting experiences there. PG can be a beautiful place. I'm white.
Do you live in PG?
Where did you move to?? That looks like Atlanta
Why generalize based on your very limited experience?
Any individual experience will be limited. And if you read through the comments, you'll see many people have the same experience.
So your social economic status forced you to live in “hood” places in PG County. Meanwhile, I own in a gated community $1M+ home and I love it. My neighbors are great and we all love each other, literally we do. So… level up your $$ vs bashing an entire county lol. It’s you, not the county
Right, the skyrocketing high crime in your county to the point where the governer had to step in is all good with you as long as you're living well behind a gate .lol
I'd rather live in a place where I don't have to pay attention to which side of the street I'm on to be safe...a place where I nor the people in my community need to live behind gates to sleep at night.
Ya'll prove me right whenever you post. I made this video years ago. Thank you for confirming I made the right decision. Enjoy your summer.
