I agree with Mark to tell how “we” got these old cars cheep and got them running. But, it’s important to point out that while we were able to get these cool “old” cars cheep and get them on the road again, they were actually only 10 to 20 years old at the time. Today vehicles are built so much better with super materials making a 20 year old vehicle still relatively new. My 69 firebird that I bought for $250 in 1981 with under 100k miles had a dash that was roached and almost everything needed to be rebuilt.
It's nuts, back in 1980 or so there was a transmission shop out in the country, the father and son also raced dirt track. They had Chargers and Road runners all over the place waiting to be a dirt car, you could buy a running driving RR from them for $300 a piece and another friend bought a 1970 Chevelle true SS 454 for only $800. Man, if I could go back in time.
do you and tony want to check out a 70 Hemi superbird manual that has never been wet in its whole life ? 16 k I bought it in 72 from a young mans family that lost his life in the war .. temp controlled its whole life , prolly one in 53 ever made
@rickmarin1265 What color is it if I may ask ? I've had the privilege of being around many superbirds and hemis my whole life and am always happy to hear about or see any of them !
Wow, sorry for the family member, but wow on that car, love to see a pic of it, I’m 57 an love mopars, but can’t afford it or restore it, but brings back memories
Funny, my x wife had a 1970 barracuda convertable with a 225 slant 6 with a slap-stik auto. The car was red and for some reason it had a 8 3/4 rear end. When I met her for the first time the car had documented 7,544 miles on it. Really fun car, too bad we sold it.
Superbird is good as is hands off the paint lol there where not perfect back then.. that makes them special.. to line it all up.. is not how they where in 1970..
If that was my Bird and you didn't have fender protectors layed over with that gas squirt bottle anywhere near the paint, You'd be fired with that 43 only made ones!
Mark is as goofy as they come! So full of shit and always has something smart af to say or sum akward opinion about sum ahit. They got it made, mark busted his ass for years and put up his own dollar to get to where he is today! Self made American! Outstanding!
When I was young,I had exactly the same model kit and color of this car,it reminds me of so many memories!

Usually the first thing that go on Old Motors is the timing chain will start to jump. And then the timing just gets too far off and it won't run

The 3 things you need to start a car….1:key, 2:hand, 3: a twist =p
🙄When Mark is in one of his ball busted moods Or His hornblowing 🤔he needs to keep in mind that good help's hard to find❤
I wonder if they clean and lube their lift arm locks?
I thought all Superbirds had a Vinyl Top to hide the modifications?
Remember the stp stickers Hurst also.
Mark is a master craftman and whoever follows behind him. Might turn out to be one also.
Now that's bad ass
Good episode but it's been posted once or twice before.
Not for sale ! but the documents might be worth a look
Why not keep it as a survivor?
survivor is not the word lol , it is a perfect car inside and out ... I own a 80k sq foot body shop .. I know what perfect is lol :)
Compression, fuel, spark, but you forgot air/oxygen. For YEARS it was what three things, but it’s actually four.
How cool!
I knew the paint code 999

Figures have never been true I don't think , but one of 53 with hemi 4 speed is my best guess so far lol

Drive a bike & ride a car 😉
He thinks he's funny but just has an inacurate self image. More annoying than anything else.
Why didn't you show Richard Petty your dancing? He is way too polite to turn away from the fool you are .
