I worked at a restaurant in the 80's in Arizona. Minimum wage was like $3.15 an hour. They paid us like $2 an hour plus tips, but tips were pooled. We got just enough of the tips to equal Minimum Wage and the restaurant owner pocketed the rest.
I worked as a waitress for years and there was no taxes on tips and so as a result I have no social security so if you think that's a good idea wait till you're 70 years old and all you have to live on is $325 a month

I worked at a restaurant in the 80's in Arizona. Minimum wage was like $3.15 an hour. They paid us like $2 an hour plus tips, but tips were pooled. We got just enough of the tips to equal Minimum Wage and the restaurant owner pocketed the rest.
