A Bulgarian American here. I have many Serb friends and all are a fantastic people. Serbia is a beautiful country and people are friendly and welcoming. Food is great and I feel there at home. Much like my old country. Whoever says Serbia is poor and women are loose is for a lack of a better word, stupid!

My experience from a year in Serbia was that Serb women never, ever made eye contact with men. If you're going to get anywhere you have to storm the citadel.

Living in Hawai'i, I have met many Serbian tourists who visit the islands. All of the Serbian people I have met visit by cruise ships and are very nice. I find the title of this video inaccurate or misguided by the video editor.

WOW, I had no idea what Serbia looked like but from what this video shows, it’s a beautiful country. Full of beautiful cultures, beautiful people, and beautiful places. It appears to have a lavish lifestyle with what I consider a great economy, and I love the history of the country. My daughter lives near a town in Maine, USA called Belgrade. I thought Belgrade was in another country I won’t mention because I don’t want to offend anyone. The food looks awesome and since I already like stuffed cabbage with hamburger, onions and rice, the one I saw in this clip looked delicious. I have been several times in Serbia, mostly in Belgrade but also in Pristina and Nis. Nice people and nice country. Belgrade has been extremely developed the last 10 Years!
it is a poor country in terms of economy and financial status, because it is being constantly robbed by their corrupted government controlled by the west for over 30 years and forcing all those who are not loyal to them to live on minimum wage while themselves and their minions keep getting disgustingly rich.
It looks very inviting. I'm retiring soon, and this looks outstanding as a great place to visit and even possibly call home. I'm currently in Denver, CO, USA. Actually, it's just south of Denver. The cost of living is so hi that few people can actually retire and stay here unless they own their home. Even then, it would be tight. Serbia has a very difficult history, and that is understanding it. I'm very happy to see that it has bounced back into a peaceful country. It looks very nice . Thank you for this video. I learned some things. I'm a master machinist, and even more. A manufacturing expert. I might be able to help Serbia upgrade its manufacturing abilities just so I can keep value and purpose in my life. Rocket science, machining, welding, forging, masses of sheet metal processing, plating, and more. It would be fun for me, and I would do it for free.

I think that you posted statistic from 5 years ago,now is RSD 95,836 / €820 / $894 monthly (January 2024) average. Also it is impossible to find an apartment in any part of Belgrade below 600 euros per month, myself i am paying 1200 eur rent for 72 square meters flat in the New Belgrade( A blok) . Also the BDP growth in recent years is among highest in Europe.

The war was an incredibly shocking time for what I thought was a modern and cosmopolitan region, and I couldn't believe how they were slaughtering each other. I visited Belgrade Serbia in the late 1980s. It was a filthy smelly run down place under Communism. I visited again in 2021. I was stunned. It has cleaned itself up and modernised. It is now a beautiful city I could easily live in. Freedom and prosperity along with peace and goodwill can transforma country from an impoverished mess to a sparkling jewel within 25 years.
You are right about the '80 as I was getting my masters in Slavic studies in Belgrade !! But it was not communism(I'm in no way defending it ) that made it that way. It was the Reagans policy and his decision to destroy Yugoslavia( you can find - Reagan’s NSDD 133 (1984) “Secret and Sensitive” ) He did to Yugoslavia what USA tried doing to Russia using Ukraine as a Proxy !! Yugoslavia was not able to defend it's self against USA/NATO imperialism !! Serbia was chosen as the Evil of the Balkans because USA knew that it will never agree to be their servant !! Today Serbia is still fighting and WE are occupying their land illegally !! China is communism and it's cleaner than any Western country aside of Switzerland ( again I don't wish Serbian people to go back to communism but rather to socialism ) !!

The run down state of Belgrade didn't happen in a few years (1984 onwards) but over decades of mismanagement and abuse. Where I do agree is the USA using proxies to fight Russia has to stop. As a Croat, I say we're a fellow man to one another. Despite the differences in religion, my aunt is happily married to a Serb for 42 years.

WOW, I had no idea what Serbia looked like but from what this video shows, it’s a beautiful country. Full of beautiful cultures, beautiful people, and beautiful places. It appears to have a lavish lifestyle with what I consider a great economy, and I love the history of the country. My daughter lives near a town in Maine, USA called Belgrade. I thought Belgrade was in another country I won’t mention because I don’t want to offend anyone. The food looks awesome and since I already like stuffed cabbage with hamburger, onions and rice, the one I saw in this clip looked delicious. It looks very inviting. I'm retiring soon, and this looks outstanding as a great place to visit and even possibly call home. I'm currently in Denver, CO, USA. Actually, it's just south of Denver. The cost of living is so hi that few people can actually retire and stay here unless they own their home. Even then, it would be tight. Serbia has a very difficult history, and that is understanding it. I'm very happy to see that it has bounced back into a peaceful country. It looks very nice . Thank you for this video.

I think that you posted statistic from 5 years ago,now is RSD 95,836 / €820 / $894 monthly (January 2024) average. Also it is impossible to find an apartment in any part of Belgrade below 600 euros per month, myself i am paying 1200 eur rent for 72 square meters flat in the New Belgrade( A blok) . Also the BDP growth in recent years is among highest in Europe.
It is possible, but it will be like 20-30 square meters in cellar floor.
I think it is way above poor, but there seems to be a parellel economy which pays low wages(may be i am wrong)

When you talk about trains, you show trams :) Trains are generally slow, except for the Belgrade-Novi Sad fast train, and next year Novi Sad-Subotica. Other trains are slow, so buses are better connected.

The war was an incredibly shocking time for what I thought was a modern and cosmopolitan region, and I couldn't believe how they were slaughtering each other. It seems the centuries of tensions are still bubbling just under the surface.

1) SFR Yugoslavia existed until April 27, 1992. The wars in Slovenia (it's ridiculous to call this a war) and Croatia were fought and ended in November 1991. At that time, the Croatian Ante Marković was at the head of the Yugoslav government, and the collective Presidency under whose command was fought, it consisted of 8 people, only one of whom, Borisav Jović, was from Serbia. Therefore, those wars were fought by the Yugoslav People's Army, which was obliged by the constitution to defend the territorial integrity of Yugoslavia, not Serbia.
2) The war in Bosnia and Herzegovina was a civil war fought between its inhabitants: Serbs, Croats and Muslims. Serbs from Bosnia and Herzegovina fought against Croats and Muslims, Croats against Serbs and Muslims, Muslims against Serbs and Croats. Serbia did not participate in that war.
3) Kosovo and Metohija are an autonomous province within Serbia. How did Serbia attack itself?
I visited Belgrade Serbia in the late 1980s. It was a filthy smelly run down place under Communism. I visited again in 2021. I was stunned. It has cleaned itself up and modernised. It is now a beautiful city I could easily live in. Freedom and prosperity along with peace and goodwill can transforma country from an impoverished mess to a sparkling jewel within 25 years.
You are right about the '80 as I was getting my masters in Slavic studies in Belgrade !! But it was not communism(I'm in no way defending it ) that made it that way. It was the Reagans policy and his decision to destroy Yugoslavia( you can find - Reagan’s NSDD 133 (1984) “Secret and Sensitive” ) He did to Yugoslavia what USA tried doing to Russia using Ukraine as a Proxy !! Yugoslavia was not able to defend it's self against USA/NATO imperialism !! Serbia was chosen as the Evil of the Balkans because USA knew that it will never agree to be their servant !! Today Serbia is still fighting and WE are occupying their land illegally !! China is communism and it's cleaner than any Western country aside of Switzerland ( again I don't wish Serbian people to go back to communism but rather to socialism ) !!

The run down state of Belgrade didn't happen in a few years (1984 onwards) but over decades of mismanagement and abuse. Where I do agree is the USA using proxies to fight Russia has to stop. Putin tried for a rapprochement with USA/NATO, there was even talk of Russia joining NATO as China was rising, but the military industrial complex needed a reason for trillions of dollars to be spent on arms and needed a bogey man enemy and they made Putin in to one.
