- This is an edited (short) version from A.D. The Bible Continues that I used to bring the story of Acts 9:1-31 to life to our Youth Group.
Acts 9:1-31 CEV
1 Saul kept on threatening to kill the Lord’s followers. He even went to the high priest 2 and asked for letters to the Jewish leaders in Damascus. He did this because he wanted to arrest and take to Jerusalem any man or woman who had accepted the Lord’s Way.
3 When Saul had almost reached Damascus, a bright light from heaven suddenly flashed around him.
4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice that said, “Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?”
5 “Who are you?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus,” the Lord answered. “I am the one you are so cruel to.
6 Now get up and go into the city, where you will be told what to do.”
7 The men with Saul stood there speechless. They had heard the voice, but they had not seen anyone.
8 Saul got up from the ground, and when he opened his eyes, he could not see a thing.
Someone then led him by the hand to Damascus, 9 and for three days he was blind and did not eat or drink.
10 A follower named Ananias lived in Damascus, and the Lord spoke to him (Ananias) in a vision. Ananias answered, “Lord, here I am.”
11 The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the house of Judas on Straight Street. When you get there, you will find a man named Saul from the city of Tarsus. Saul is praying, 12 and he has seen a vision.
He (Saul) saw a man named Ananias coming to him and putting his hands on him, so that he could see again.”
13 Ananias replied, “Lord, a lot of people have told me about the terrible things this man has done to your followers in Jerusalem.
14 Now the chief priests have given him the power to come here and arrest anyone who worships in your name.”
15 The Lord said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen him to tell foreigners (THAT’S US), kings, and the people of Israel about me. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for worshiping in my name.”
17 Ananias left and went into the house where Saul was staying. Ananias placed his hands on him and said, “Saul, the Lord Jesus has sent me. He is the same one who appeared to you along the road. He wants you to be able to see and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18 Suddenly something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see.
He got up and was baptized.
19 Then he ate and felt much better.
For several days Saul stayed with the Lord’s followers in Damascus.
20 Soon he went to the Jewish meeting places and started telling people that Jesus is the Son of God.
21 Everyone who heard Saul was amazed and said, “Isn’t this the man who caused so much trouble for those people in Jerusalem who worship in the name of Jesus? Didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them to the chief priests?”
22 Saul preached with such power that he completely confused the Jewish people in Damascus, as he tried to show them that Jesus is the Messiah.
23 Later some of them made plans to kill Saul, 24 but he found out about it. He learned that they were guarding the gates of the city day and night in order to kill him. 25 Then one night his followers let him down over the city wall in a large basket.
26 When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the followers.
But they were all afraid of him, because they did not believe he was a true follower.
27 Then Barnabas helped him by taking him to the apostles. He explained how Saul had seen the Lord and how the Lord had spoken to him.
Barnabas also said that when Saul was in Damascus, he had spoken bravely in the name of Jesus.
28 Saul moved about freely with the followers in Jerusalem and told everyone about the Lord.
29 He was always arguing with the Jews who spoke Greek, and so they tried to kill him.
30 But the followers found out about this and took Saul to Caesarea. From there they sent him to the city of Tarsus.
31 The church in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria now had a time of peace and kept on worshiping the Lord.
The church became stronger, as the Holy Spirit encouraged it and helped it grow.
I love Saul I was the same way, I mocked and hated on Christians. Until I overdosed and stood before Yeshua (Jesus name in original Hebrew) his face was so bright I couldn't see any details but he had his arms held out to hug me. I felt so much love and warmth and judgement that all I could do is fall to my knees. I looked down and seen a dark pit and began to fall down into it, the last thing I did was just think "NO" and looked back up to see Yeshuas hand reaching down. As soon as I grabbed it I woke up back in my room in the bed I had just overdosed in. While I was fading away it felt like I was totally paralyzed I tried to scream for help but I couldn't. Right before I blacked out it felt like I was falling up..
God's DNA is in us, He knows when we cry out, even without words. Think of those who are mute, but still want God....
Still a miracle working God! Hebrews 13.8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, forever.
💌 Brethren, I want to inform you that now is the last age of God's salvation (the Age of the Kingdom or the age of the word, and this is in "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐), this is not the age of many acquaintances or friends, money, wealth or fame but increase it with true knowledge of God's work so that you can know God's disposition and understand His will. Now the classification according to each type of person. 📩 So, go to the kingdom that He brought down, His arrival is the fulfillment of what was prophesied in the great book of Revelation.
THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age which God saves man from the destruction of this old world"
Almighty God said
ALL PEOPLE NEED to UNDERSTAND the PURPOSES of My WORK on EARTH, that is, what I WANT to ACHIEVE in the END and to what degree I must ACHIEVE this WORK BEFORE it becomes COMPLETE. If after WALKING WITH Me until this DAY, PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND what My WORK is about, isn't their WALKING with Me in vain? If PEOPLE OBEY Me, they must KNOW My WILL. 🙏
I have been working on earth for thousands of years, and to this day, I still do My work in this way. Although My WORK CONTAINS many PROJECTS, the PURPOSE of the WORK remains UNCHANGED; for example, even though I AM FULL of JUDGMENT and CHASTISEMENT of man, what I do is STILL for the SAKE of SAVING him, and for the SAKE of better PROPAGATION of My GOSPEL and further EXPANSION of My WORK in ALL COUNTRIES GENTILE the MOMENT man was made PERFECT. ☀️
So today, at a time when many people have long since fallen deeply into disappointment, I am still continuing My work, continuing the work I must do to JUDGE and PUNISH MAN. To those of the truth that man is already full of what I say, and he has no desire to interfere with My work, I still carry out My duty, because the PURPOSE of My WORK REMAINS UNCHANGED, and My ORIGINAL PLAN WILL NOT BE DESTROYED . ☀️
The purpose of My JUDGMENT is to GRANT--ENABLE PEOPLE to be better at OBEYING Me, and the purpose of My PUNISHMENT is to allow PEOPLE to CHANGE more effectively. ☀️
Although what I do is for the sake of My rule, I have never done anything that does not benefit people, because I want to make all the nations outside of Israel as obedient as the Israelites, and make them true man, so that I would have a hold on the lands outside of Israel.
This is My RULE; this is the WORK I FULFILL among the GENTILE NATIONS. Even today, many people still do not UNDERSTAND My GOVERNMENT, because they have NO INTEREST in these THINGS, but only CARE about their OWN FUTURES and DESTINY. ☀️
No matter what I say, people still don't care about the work I do, instead focusing only on their desired ends. If things continue in this way, how will My work be expanded?
HOW WILL My GOSPEL be SPREAD THROUGHOUT the WORLD? ☀️
You must know that when My work expands, I will scatter you, and I will strike you, as Jehovah struck every tribe of Israel. ALL of this WILL be DONE to SPREAD My GOSPEL THROUGHOUT the EARTH, so that it REACHES the GENTLE NATIONS, so that My NAME will be GLORIFIED by BOTH ADULTS and CHILDREN, and the HOLY NAME will be GLORIFIED by the MOUTH of PEOPLE from ALL TRIBES and COUNTRIES. 🙏
This is so that in this LAST AGE, My NAME will be glorified among the GENTILE NATIONS, so that the GENTILES WILL SEE My WORKS and they WILL CALL Me ALMIGHTY over ALL because of My WORKS, and so that My WORDS can be FULFILLED in as SOON as POSSIBLE. I WILL MAKE ALL PEOPLE KNOW that I AM NOT ONLY the GOD of the ISRAELITES, BUT ALSO the GOD of ALL the GENTILE NATIONS, EVEN the ONES I CURSED. 🙏
I will let ALL PEOPLE SEE that I AM the GOD of ALL CREATION. This is My GREATEST WORK, the PURPOSE of My WORK PLAN for the LAST DAYS, and the only WORK that will be FULFILLED in the LAST DAYS. ☀️🙏
From "The Work of Spreading the Gospel is also the Work of Saving People"
Fulfillment of "When I looked up, someone handed me a book wrapped in a scroll. I opened it and I read on both sides the prayers, sorrows, and curses." (Ezekiel 2:9-10). ... "His clothes were stained with blood. He was called the "Word of God." (Rev. 19:13)
The kingdom He brought down and built in the worthy holy place in the highest in the sky and when all the humanity He created in the universe was occupied by it and it was engraved in His holy name and owned by His disposition "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 this is the fulfillment of (Mat. 16:18) The Lord Jesus said, "And I say to you, Peter, on top of this eunuch I will build my Church, which will not prevail against him even the fear of death.". ... and fulfillment of "The Letter to the Church in Philadelphia" (Rev. 3:7-13). ... and fulfillment of "The New Jerusalem"💫 "The Spirit covered me, and the angel led me to the top of a very high mountain. He showed me Jerusalem, the Holy City, coming down from heaven from God." (Rev. 21:10). ... "For the time has come in the matter of God for the beginning of judgment in the house of God." (1 Peter 4:17)
📩 God's sheep are called and led to His glorious Throne in "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 to submit again to His authority so that He can continue to teach us, guide us and protect us even in plagues, disasters, famines and wild animals It will not move us, and to completely win the war with the big red dragon in this final battle!. ... The fulfillment of "They say with a loud voice, "Salvation comes from the Lamb, and from our God who sits on the Throne!" (Rev. 7:10). ... Fulfillment that it will be built in the highest in the sky that in our Millennial generation is UA-cam in (Isaiah 2:2 / 9:6) "In the last day, the mountain on which Jehovah's temple stands will stand out above all the mountains. All the nations will flock there.". ... "For a baby boy is born for us. The rule will be given to him; and he shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." 📨💌

There was no name change after baptism. The Bible states that Paul had two names , Saul (Hebrew) and Paul (Roman/Latin). He used his Roman name when conversing with Gentiles and Hebrew name when with Judeans.

I love Saul’s passion and purpose. He was a hard charger in both his old life and his reborn one. The manner did not change but the message did!
He was knocked to the ground in scripture and his repentance came after this encounter when he was temporarily blinded. The best example of repentance which means change mind.he persecuted believers, became the greatest evangelist and church planter in history
He walked into that synagogue like a champ . "Gather around , listen to me...". I imagine the faces of those people witnessing that . Filled with the Holy spirit. No fear. Jesus is the way.
Just from having an encounter with Jesus Saul became a brand new person preaching the gospel to all man kind just wow, Lord I want to have an encounter with you that will transform me in more ways than one. I love you jesus

"Oh I can see You now"
Paul is my absolute favorite after Jesus of course, he personifies Christians now, he was they only apostle that didn’t meet him in person yet he had (in my opinion) the most faith of them all. He wrote almost the whole New Testament. ❤ I love how passionate he is until the end.
Saul's conviction in what he feels is true is so forthright, it is what makes him the perfect instrument.
It makes him the perfect false apostle.
It's very wrong when you have a hot Jesus guy. :((

God Himsélf has chosen Saul to be an apostle when he was on his road to Damascus.
Acts 9:1-2 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder AGAINST the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
God Himsélf appeared to Saul and Saul heard His voice.. and just as God changed the name of Abram to Abraham and Sara to Sarah, God changed his name from Saul to Paul. And God stíll want to change 'names' today by making us a brand new person who never existed before "once we receive the new birth in Christ".
Unbelieve and stubbornness are what keep us from a living relationship with the living Father and Son. It also keep us from our inheritance in Christ.
@@geodarnodan6750 The real Jesus was actually very plain but was beautiful from the inside because He loved his heavenly father so much. Love does that.

In Acts 9:1-22 we can see Paul's Conversion. A person who persecuted the Jews, Believers,not sparing the women's too. But God has transformed him in the way to Damascus and later he began to preach,wrote even Prison and General Epistle Letters. He got the similarity consequences he faced what he did in the past to believers like harassment,even stoned nearly to death and put into prison.
From Paul's life what we can learnt is don't hurt others sentiment that we may face the same later even after death in eternal hellfire. But repentance and accepting Jesus Christ as our personal saviour would lead us to the righteous path of eternal peace 🕊️

Still very difficult for historians to explain his conversion. He was a real person, we have his writings, we know what he was doing before he turned to Christ. His conversion is one of those historical details that is very hard to reconcile unless you make room for some kind of "supernatural" explanation.

This is actually a really good cinematic interpretation! I especially love the bit about Peter in the beginning. There may well have been some envy - in fact, several Biblical scholars like Stanley Porter have postulated Paul may actually have encountered and spoken with Jesus BEFORE the crucifixion. He was bitter and upset because he couldn’t get what he wanted from the Messiah. cf. the young man seeking "eternal life" in Mark 10:17 and Matthew 19:16 - I always wondered why Paul himself states in Galatians 1:18 that he spent 15 days with Cephas (Peter). More than likely there was history between Peter and Paul dating back to when Jesus was alive before the crucifixion. I think there was close networking between Peter, Paul, John, and James the Just’s ministries, especially during the time Mary was under John’s care at Ephesus until 57 AD when the Dormition/Assumption happened.

Definition of Romans 14:14 - It is well to consider this entire chapter in its context . Paul was writing about a problem of judging among the apolistic believers. Verses 4,10 and 13 exhort against the sin of judging one another. And it was true that a serious division existed in that early church. The Gentile Christians were judging the Jewish Christians and the Jewish Christians were judging the Gentile Christians.
Notice how the previous verses strikes at the very heart of the issue. “Let us not therefore judge one another anymore: but judge this rather,that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way”(verse13)
What was the basis of the problem? Over what were they judging each other? The Gentiles who had come into the church from paganism were offended because the Jewish Christian ate food that had been offered in sacrifice to idols. And the Jewish Christians judged the Gentile church members because they had no regard for the ceremonial days that still observered from Judaism.
Some of the Gentile converts were so fearful of eating meat offered to idols that they ate only vegetables. Paul spoke of them in verses 1 and 2. The Jewish Christians thought that was ridiculous and apparently made divisive attacks against their fellow Christians. It was so serious that Paul addressed the problem again in 1 Corinthians 8:8-12. There he elaborated at length on ‘the weak brother’ (the Gentile believer who esteemed the food unfit to be eaten.
What was Paul’s councel to the Jewish members who were judging the Gentile members? He told them not to eat the food offered to idols if they were in the presence of those who thought it to be wrong. Even though they had knowledge that the idol was nothing,he told the Jewish converts: “And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ”
(1 Corinthians 8:11,12)
The food offered to idols was not unclean food (Acts 14:13) but was merely esteemed so by the Gentile converts. It was not a moral issue. Neither was the matter of the ceremonial days, which Paul mentioned in Romans 14:5 He told them to stop judging over those issues and to get on with the work. These matters had nothing to do with the moral questions of the seventh day Sabbath and the forbidden unclean food.

I was a very stubborn guy.
AYOOOOO JESUS HE, HE IS REAL AMEN GOD IS ONE OMEGA AND ALPHA
Paul was not converted on the road to Damascus.
He was given reason to rethink his views on the road to Damascus.
Then then later experienced the kindness of those he had been persecuting and having killed.
Following that, he opened his mind and did research and prayer and came to the conclusion that Jesus was indeed the messiah and saviour.
Paul was an educated man of reason. He did not change his mind because he experienced a miracle. The miracle opened his mind and then he used a mind free of prejudice to find his way to the truth.
Well said Sir! Paul is such a complex character. His redemption is a metaphor for every one... no matter their station in life. His 3 yr. isolation in Tarsus subsequent his transformation illuminates the intellectual struggles he had to have felt because of the Damascus event and the persecution by his former employers. His Faith was strengthened in weakness.

I appreciate that it's more theatrical to see miracles doing God's work. It's also more exciting to read about them. But for me, it's far more beautiful to imagine the process Paul went through to arrive at his faith.
It is indeed a miracle what happened to him on the road and a beautiful example of the transformative nature of Christian love of one's enemy that moved his heart to a point where there was space for the truth or at least opened minded exploration of it.
The rest was all down to his great education and mind and his will to push though his doubts and conditioning.
I wonder what struggles he still had in coming to his final conclusion.
