And the reason she defected was that Balisarius (who killed her family) double-crossed her, not because she considered killing a kid to be evil. She’s very comfortable shooting a kid to death as long as Balisarius doesn’t betray her.

The first half of his career isn't great tbh. His Dawn of the Dead remake is mid, Watchmen is good but Alan Moore did all the work for him, and 300 isn't as good as I thought it was when I was 14. Idk about Sucker Punch so that might be good. Then you get his DC movies which are poo.

I thought I had lost my mind when I was watching this scene for the first time. I could not believe that a writer would stoop this low. This actually brought me straight back to Glass Onion when Rian just dumps on you that Helen didn't die because her journal stopped the bullet.
Hey! That journal could’ve had metal in it or something! It makes _complete_ sense that she survived!

Pro-tip: Just stick the backstory and exposition into script at whatever time you think of it. Rewriting is for amateurs, and planning is for cowards. Rian Johnson knew that, when he wrote his first (and only) draft for 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi.'

I think when covering part one EFAP made the joke that there would be a scene where the characters were sitting around and then say, "let me tell you my backstory" and "And that's insane now please listen to my backstory."
It was a joke because it seemed absurd because it would be so lazy and stupid no one in their right mind would actually include it in a film. We officially live in a parody...
Snyder's COPE (Copypasta Objective Padding w/ Exposition) is NOT my only joy.

Based on the way they described this it sounds like the way we learned about the Spider-people in into the spider-verse. Where all their backstories basically are the same.
HOWEVER in spider-verse that was the joke. It was a running gag to make fun of recapping backstory to the audience.
This is Zach Snyder. He's got my back. He can cringe all of you in half with one exposition dump, just like mowing the lawn in slow-mo. I would advise not getting bored by him, his dialogue traps the souls of its victims.
It's a strange surprise learning that Suicide Squad 2016 was NOT directed by Snyder... But makes sense.

I love how Fringy references Indianapolis as a medium sized city. I find it funny and curious for an Australian man to be so accurate and specific about a city I wouldn't expect someone from another country to know much about.
A lot of 'obscure' American cities are actually well known for being constantly referenced as being obscure in the American media the whole world consumes.

It’s easy. It’s because Zach’s successes weren’t his. Any success he enjoyed was caused by his not writing, or adapting any of his other movies.
I sometimes find it beautiful how, despite our differences, we can all come together to hate on trash like this. Nothing brings people together like bad movies 😂
The worst thing is, the ship canon fires two shots but only one impacts the ground. This man is a clown hiding behind the cutout of an artist.

Zack Snyder has ALWAYS been a shit storyteller. I knew this when he made Man of Steel and he muted the colors. HE MUTED THE COLORS TO A F@#$ING SUPERMAN MOVIE!!! This makes sense on a Batman movie, BUT SUPERMAN!?!?!?

I kind of got lost in this scene. I drifted off after the 2nd backstory and when the next story began I thought "what? They really are doing this? Holy balls".
It does feel like a fever dream, that a professional multimillion dollar production put this scene in with nobody blocking it.

They could have just had the whole cast be prisoners the bad guys brought with them to speed up the harvest. We could have cut 90 percent of the first movie. The cast could have had a reason to fight for the town. Kora and the villagers could assist or at least be kind to the prisoners. They kill the 10 soldiers, and prepare for the empire to come back.
This would solve a lot.
You can hear Gary cracking up when he mentions Hot Shots, which goes to show you that comedy can be effective when the creators are in on the joke.
I find it funny that aside from the magic ancestor blood bs that suddenly made an average villager woman suddenly a super capable warrior somehow (despite the rest of her 40yo body not being cybernetic and presumably not trained for combat), her magic gauntlets and swords aren't special. Because we already see what are basically lightsabers being used normally by Kora and Noble, without the need for robot arms. It's the same weapon without hacking off limbs. And Nemesis didn't even seem know she'd get imbued with the knowledge of how to fight through ancestral blood magic bs. Just that it was part of a right of passage to become a warrior. ...which she, for some reason, decided to do as her fiery village crumbles around her and the smoke should be suffocating her.
The Efap crew's pronunciation of Reb-Bell Moooooon lives rent free in my head. And I like it.
I'd really love to see MauLer write something: a book, a comic, a screenplay, a novel, anything!
Zach Snyder is to movies what rob liefeld was to comic books. The fact that this sort of shallow hackery can exist and thrive in the show biz is its own evidence to the health and quality it’s at.
I knew in the 90s that comics were going downhill when liefeld got so much work and took on (ruined) so many popular books. In some of the interviews with Stan Lee back then, there was one where he was side by side with liefeld, and stan the man was throwing one jab after another at his work. Stan Lee could be merciless. Probably what kept him in the biz so long…
I suspect enuf people will eventually tell Zach to close his rain coat. Until then, if you like the low hanging fruit rotting on the ground….enjoy?

In Magnificent 7, they were just good people or dumb enough. 2 I believe were mostly just loyal to each other. Deep lore defeats the power of the plot of mercs defending a flock
This movie could be a comedy that makes Space Balls look like insert any Marvel comedy here, if only Snyder was self aware.

And here I thought the worst scene would be assassination scene with the band wearing death hoods playing the actual background music for the royal family as they get stabbed by a whole crowd of witnesses and the room full of bad guys can't catch one woman from fleeing a room they really should have locked to prevent anyone from strolling in accidentally. Not like they were taking many precautions to avoid leaks and cover any loose ends, though. I mean, hell, Apparently they didn't even take the corpses of the royal family family and toss them into a coal boiler to make double sure they were all dead, since the princess somehow survived.
