Back in the late 70s, I owned a gold 260 2 + 2 with a custom full roof sun roof. My interior was black leather. Because my job required me to be on the road all day every work day, and because I often had to spend a lot of time on long highway drives, the car was an absolute ball to own. It was a manual and I put a few mods on it since I worked at the wholesale level for an importer, distributer, wholesaler of automotive parts, so I represented 38 brands of auto parts............was able to add a lot of goodies to the car for wholesale. It was cool to see you take it for a drive........brought back some memories. Of course mine had a back seat and a larger roof line and the big sun roof, but the sound and the shifts and the acceleration are the same. I am one of those people you mentioned from your parent's generation. I have owned many "cool" cars but the Z has a special place in that collection.

This was the best car and my most favorite, and most hated that I sold it. I pulled the engine and put a 240 engine in it as well as the distributor with points. I put a TON of miles on that car.

Looks lovely - I would add a resonator to get that rev-up sound more crisp......and thanks for the mention ;-)

Great to see an update! Make sure all your gaskets in the hatch are rea placed and the deck lid on the hatch is properly on. A good cheap fix is to get a little bit of matching color vinyl wrap and putting it over the deck lid hole then fitting it on, that’s notorious for exhaust to deep through.
It may not be in the budget but…the exchange rate for parts in Japan is so good right now. It would be best to order now saving some money on parts on rhdjapan. You can order OER triples and a manifold way cheaper right now 😅

Or look at all your vent hoses coming off your gas tank, make sure they aren’t disintegrated. One of them runs right along your taillight panel in the cab to a overflow container behind a panel on the rear passenger side. I replaced these and the only time I smell gas now is when I top it off. Awesome car and video! We have sister Z’s. Early 260’s. I just spent the last year replacing/refurbing mine and just started driving it and yes, puts a smile on my face every time! I’m truly surprised at how nice that car is to drive! Thanks for the vid

I had a 1974 260Z when I was in California. The Hitachi/SU carbs that came stock on it SUCKED. I never had the money to convert it to a Holley or Webers. 😒 My preference now if I was going to buy another would be a 1971 or 1972 240Z. Lots less smog crap to rip off.

You have the right years, there. I owned a 1973 240 and the emission kludges were an issue that year, too.
The big solution would be electronic fuel injection. That's what MZR in the UK does for their ultra restomods.

"A TUNNEl" you Don't sell an investment, during it's climb!
Any good hot rod shop will slap that carb into shape !
Buy a AEM air/fuel ratio meter, to install the same time they do the carb work.
You think it moves now ?

I have no plans of selling any time soon. Good advice for the air/fuel meter, I will definitely look into it. I’ve been told that once this carb is properly tuned, the car should really come alive! 😎
