I could never justifying buying a new boat ever again I’ve done both! It took me years to pay off my last one, this time I saved and paid cash for it! I saved at least 60 thousand dollars getting my prestine Bullet with 190 hours from a good friend that I trust! These new boats are way to expensive, so folks try to save and get what you want!
As a relatively new angler, I enjoy your videos. Looking for my first bass boat now. There's so much to know that it can be overwhelming- boat size (alum v. fiberglass), motor size, trolling motor size, electronic options at dash and bow, 2 v 3 bank batter charger, etc. I too am from Maryland and having trouble finding anything local.
I 100% agree with what you are talking about and i bought a brand new boat for the same reasons. I could have said money going used no doubt. However its worth the piece of mind for me anyway knowing how the boat is being taken care of from day one. Plus having a warranty makes me feel a lot better in the long run..
I know this is an old video but it helped me make the same decision you did. I didn't want a project, I just wanted to be able to fish with my son in his high school tournaments. I did my research, found the one I wanted and pulled the trigger. Zero regrets. Great video!
I hear what you're saying. Now I'm not a bass fisherman. The same things you're saying also applies to aluminum deep v boats. I have just bit the bullet and am purchasing a 65k Canadian tracker. Has everything I want, no compromise. All brand new and anything that happens to it will be me. Good for you on your purchase and I hope you're enjoying your boat
Just got a truck in April. I looked at used ones and figured that I would be better off with a new one for just the reason that you said. I don't need a note AND a big repair bill. The note is fine, and I don't have to worry about unexpected repairs now. As for me, a 2K used aluminum bass boat in the water that I fish is fine. I just need to find one now. :)
Used is extremely risky, but you can save a ton of $$ with used. It's a trade off. I'm looking at a 05 stratos with a 115 for only 10k. I almost drove 10 hours to buy a nitro till the guy showed me pics of the transom full of caulk. Said it wasn't an issue, she only leaks a little! I was like ..good luck with that!
I don't know much about boats. However, I've been on some friends' boats....they bought them used, cheap, and they were unappealing. I consider boating a luxury, just as buying a vacation home, luxury car, or even a set of golf clubs. Either you buy them new or excellent condition, or don't buy them at all. When I was 26, I bought a used Mercedes Benz c240 for 8500 and ended up regretting it.
I bought a used boat a couple of years ago, glad I did cause it didn’t hurt so bad when I did rookie mistakes with it and broke stuff. Now I’m ready for something nice but probably not new.
Wow great video. Thanks for the tips. Looking at buying my very first bass boat next year and I am torn between new and used. After watching your video I am leaning towards new. I am also looking at a skeeter. Great video and keep up the great videos about owning a boat. Big help to nubs like myself.
I love fishing but I fish only 1 or 2 times a year because I work so much. I can't see buying a new boat in my situation that will sit in my shed most of the time. Right now I fish out of a 25 year old boat that's paid for. I rather an old boat sit than I would a new boat sitting.
I searched high and low and found a great used boat with less than 20 hours on the motor, and it was a 20.5ft/200HP, garage kept - mechanic checked motor and said it was like a new motor......I used all processes of searching and found it......they are out there........people are selling newly level used boats and got a super super low price - military guy never had time to use it and got a great low price on it, but it was never posted on any major sale sites...........you have to check all avenues...........
One thing I feel is important but not mentioned. As much as you might like a particular brand. It’s always better to buy a boat which has a local dealer. Spending that much money and then driving two or three hours every time you want service is not acceptable. Also the dealer itself makes a difference. If it’s small and kind of seedy looking and the service area looks sloppy run like hell.
Decided to buy a fish and ski and this is a 2009 Tahoe Q5I, clean and engine sounds great but after the first day it started having trouble getting on plan until it just wouldn't anymore. So I put it in the shop and I'm seriously thinking about just trading it in and buying new one. I hate having problems on the water and I think I'm gonna make that leap.
Man that stinks dude sorry to hear that....i know i didnt want to deal with potential issues so i went new and boat has ran like a champ everyday....good luck
power heads go out due to running old fuel and not treating the fuel properly with a stabilizer + something to clean out carbon deposits. adding a little oil to the fuel also helps...also the older hpdi's need a mod to the oil injection system that make is burn a ton of oil to keep the power head alive. also, running wide open all the time is bad. doing nothing but idling is also bad.

Sal Palos imo considering at what rate boats depreciate and the cost of maintenance buying new isnt the best financial decision. Buying a new motor for the extended warranty is a more valid comparison.

I'd really be interested in the reason behind spending twice as much or more for a fiberglass bass boat vs. Aluminum? Is the ride that much better?? New aluminum boats ride pretty good.
There are loads of benefits to both! Fiberglass is gonna be smoother for sure, but aluminum comes with all the same features nowadays....buy exactly what you want is my best advice for new boat owners
Great video series on how you went about buying your boat!! I'm just getting started in my quest and have friends who love Phoenix. Curious from your experience was it the price point that steered you away from those or was it something(s) functional??
+Jonathan Wall price point was the biggest factor...I wanted it all power poles boat size and warranty...skeeter is the right amount of all of that and I I knew if I settled one bit I would regret it....don't buy a corvette in a color you hate...get the most boat you can for the money even if you have to go over budget
I’ve owned 3 Boats in a 4 year period u are not lying they tend to go bad and they are not cheap to fix B.O.A.T does really stand for bust out another thousand my current bass boat is on it’s 3rd Engine lol
You can take 5 logs and make a boat, but its the maintenance that will keep it afloat. A used boat is always worth it, if u know what ur doing. Sure worth saving 20 grand if u can do 5 grand worth of work.
Came across your channel and am getting sucked in lol. Currently trying to buy my first boat and it’s impossible! Im in NY and the three dealers (all 2 hours away) don’t have any boats in stock. My mind is set on a Lund for a few reasons but the problem I have is seeing/touching one in person…..I can’t spend 40-50k on a boat I can’t physical look at. Anyway, I like your honesty about becoming a boat owner. It’s the worst purchase ever, I definitely won’t use it as much as I’d like but when I do, my family will enjoy it and that time and creating memories is worth the cost. I mean, I’ll hate making payments on the thing and question myself every second but i figure, worse case, sell it.
Never buy a used bass boat from tournament anglers because they are beaten to shit and abused with electronics and equipment that are out dated or not working properly
I am looking at a xpress X21 PRO 34000 To fish high school And bigger tournaments but my dad wants to go with a used boat if I show this to him he is just gonna say enoughwe are getting a used boat and its final I like aluminum over fiberglass much lighter
Well man it is pretty awesome youve got some supporting parents and are starting now with those opportunities. Im happy for ya. I worked hard went to school and made sure i could afford the things i want. But thats the key in life and fishing hard work always wins. Dont let those kids with nicer boats talk down to you but also dont talk bad about them, because it aint the boat it is the angler and they arent rich their parents can just afford them and want the best for their kids. I didnt have the nicest things growing up but i had good things that my parents worked hard to provide. So go get bud! Work hard
im in the same boat. prefer the aluminum over the glass.. not as good in the wind but everything else outweighs glass. esp costs ! lol gas and truck gas to tow.. less strain on the truck too. those xpress are nice.. im in a 1648 tracker right now. good luck man
I love it. Got the boat up to 71 with two guys on the potomac, and thats stock everything. Fact is I'm too much of a noob to give you a worthwhile opinion of the motor performance. I know I love the 4 stroke...and the 6yrs of warranty I have, not to mention how great Wiedas Marine was.
BeyondTheBounds I live on Lake Erie and have been searching for a bass boat that handles rough water, skeeter is on my list. Probably getting an SHO on whatever boat I get
heard ranger is the best. I saw one cutting thru the water just the other day while I was having tons of issues, but that was a noob in rough water situation, I'll get the hang of it...but that ranger was moving good. Love my skeeter and it handles good chop....that day was just something else.
BeyondTheBounds I had a buddy separate the hull of his Nitro from smacking waves and his boat was in the shop for 4 months, his boat is only 3 years old. Rangers are on my list as well. Won't be going with a Nitro.
Wonders why he asks for a subscribe in the first few seconds, then seems to take a long time talking about a used boat instead of the positives that made him go new.
I was wondering the same I’m going to look at one I found on market place but it has a Yamaha on it. I know they are great motors but I don’t believe it’s factory.

I’ve owned 3 Boats in a 4 year period u are not lying they tend to go bad and they are not cheap to fix B.O.A.T does really stand for bust out another thousand my current bass boat is on it’s 3rd Engine lol
Did you ever wonder what all those boats have in common?
Do it and enjoy
AWESOMENESS!!!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!
Can't blame you.
Appreciate it!
Dig the hat, GUNS UP!
Thanks man! Wreck em!
Never buy a used bass boat from tournament anglers because they are beaten to shit and abused with electronics and equipment that are out dated or not working properly
They can run them ragged
We bought our 2007 Ranger Z21 in 2015 with only 48 hours haha
Nice find right there! I reckon you paid mid 30s for it if not a smidge higher...given what it came rigged with and overall condition.
Make video of you trying to catch fish on your new boat😬
And done
Mine is 100hrs
💯💪👊LETS GO!!!
Man I got this beast up to 71.5 with two dudes!
My name is Triton
I would like to know the speed you are getting out of the zx250 i bought a 2018 and would like to know what others are getting out of theirs;;;;;;;
73 with everything stock. Most I run 55mph to low 60s
@@BeyondTheBoundsOutdoors Thankyou for your quick answer
Lol love the vid man face it your like me you like new stuff!!!😂😂🤣
Lol definitely
I like my 2005 Triton 196 that is paid off and takes me any place a brand new boat goes without issue! I'm a cheapskate though.
heck yeah man! Fish it hard...I'll be too scared to get up in them crazy spots.
Work hard
BeyondTheBounds Currently I'm running in a tracker grizly 1760 sportsman does good for very small Tournaments
im in the same boat. prefer the aluminum over the glass.. not as good in the wind but everything else outweighs glass. esp costs ! lol gas and truck gas to tow.. less strain on the truck too. those xpress are nice.. im in a 1648 tracker right now. good luck man
i wish you would of looked at a PRO GATOR boat
What is that?
Hey you live in Texas?
Well if you ever come down hit me up and we will go fishing!
How do you like your SHO motor?
Just stay away from ethanol fuel and your motor wont blow up.
DEELERS GET RICH ON GUYS LIKE YOU.............RESELL..........LEFFIN'
You also didnt pay cash, alot of people would rather pay cash and own the boat from day 1.
Everyone would "rather" pay cash...yet majority of all boats....5k-500k are financed. Just how it is.
How do you afford a boat
Money money and more money
Wonders why he asks for a subscribe in the first few seconds, then seems to take a long time talking about a used boat instead of the positives that made him go new.
Doritos
More money than brains
Isn't this the same guy that almost cried in a previous video when he went to look at a used boat and it had scratches on it
Hmmmmm nope! Don't remember crying...remember sharing an experience for others to learn from because no one is perfect
Get a Gambler
Nah gamblers are a waste...sure they are fast, but the ride is crap and thats why you barely see them on the water
I was wondering the same I’m going to look at one I found on market place but it has a Yamaha on it. I know they are great motors but I don’t believe it’s factory.
Man you talk a lot. Ramble on and never get to the point.
