- This video was 5 years in the making, and came down to 9 .36 seconds, a personal best, and achieving the goal of only needing a 9.50. When I started out on this mission to get there, things took a different route, very scenic. I have had lots of successes, as well as failures. You have seen plenty from me, if you have been following along. Big Thanks to my friend and mentor so to speak, Donn Rhode. He did machine work and guided me on many aspects of the build. rip. Also to my friend Darin Morgan for his hard work into the induction system, it works well. JP for all the time you spent, on making it perfect. Also my family, Mrs. DragBoss, Bossettes Izzy, and Alaina. Great to have them on this journey. Keeping the Faith William Fioretti, appreciate the help. Mike Weaks, and Charlie Bremer. All of you for watching and following along with this ride into the 9s.
DragBoss Garage: Where your always seeing and learning something new"
So sweet. Congratulations! Thank you for keeping the Cleveland up front and center. Best engine ever.
A 9.36 is SPECTACULAR !!! I knew you had something up your sleeve but this just blows me away. All of your hard work and determination has finally paid off BIG TIME. I’m so proud of you, my friend. Savor the moment !
That’s what I’m talking about Daniel. Walk softly and carry a big stick. Thanks my friend
Hey Mr. Big Stick, that was a great 9.36 pass. Gapping that new model Camaro. ❤️👍🏻😎🇺🇸🏁🙏🏻. Can’t wait till the next outing to the track.
Congratulations on a new low ET. Can’t even say how cool the Cougar is
@jmr1970 walking softly and taking care of business. Thanks
@jamessharp9790 thanks too. She speaks for herself. I am along for the ride.
By any measure that is very impressive and should be proud of it Tim!
I am very proud, lot of time and energy spent on this. But goal achieved and off to the next. Thanks Ben
well, what I thought might be too much cam? um.....lol....that thing is fast, hooked, and sounds amazing going down the track!
Actually the cam is too small for heads. Needs more cam and compression. Yes she cooks thanks
Dude that is so awesome! Congrats my Brother.. I know you are super excited
I am. Worked hard through all these stumbling blocks, and reached my goal. Not bad for 55 year old car and 54 year old block. Come on 9.2x. Appreciated. 🏁
@@DragBoss351Cleveland 9.2's are in the bag!
@UnityMotorSportsGarage hmmm, anything is possible, keep the faith.
Looks like it drove like a dream
Congratulations Tim Job well done
Truly something to be very proud of
Thanks Mike. Sure does drive like it was on rails. I am proud of this long 5 year goal.
Absolutely beautiful machine what a powerhouse na engine
And she drives like a street car, too. Idle, no problem. Thank you
I’m not really a ford guy, but I don’t think anyone can deny the power a Cleveland is capable of making. I think it gets overlooked in favor of a sbc, because the dimensions and oil pan configuration, make putting it into various chassis a challenge.
I doubt there are many sbc at the same cubic inch, that would push that cougar to a 9.36@142mph. Just shows what an incredible package the Cleveland is.
What does that car weigh? I have to think it’s about 3,800lbsits
It’s damn impressive for a naturally aspirated small block to run that time, and be able to drive on the street.
Hard work pays off man, congratulations
3123 with him in it
Thank you for watching. The Cleveland. Does hold its own. Front end was challenging. Car weighs 3123 with me.
All that hard work paying off! The car is beautiful, sounds amazing and most importantly is fast as all heck 👍 a lot of people talk about it meanwhile you’re being about it 💯
I had talked about it on and off for 5 years. Then one thing after another. But glad she put up the number or I would have been devastated. Perseverance is key thanks baby
That's one helluva machine !!! I used to have an old Cougar when I knew virtually nothing about car building. Your's is AWESOME !!!
Thank you appreciate you caring. Stay tuned more on the way
Well done Tim, congrats on the results! Plenty more to come im sure! Also congratulations to all the people who helped you and especially your family for all their support!
Amen to that Mate. Very much appreciated. Yes big thanks to all that helped me out. Our little racing family ❤️
WOW 9.30'S you met your goal and then some. Well worth the wait. Congratulations Tim !
Thanks so much. Feels good to reach your goal, next project let’s go.
Been following a couple years now, great moment seeing that you have got her back to the track. Congrats to you sir, enjoy…
Thank you. Sure feels good. Don’t lurk in the shadows, come on out. Thank you sir
Sounds amazing!
Agreed
Great job tim! Thanks for the work you put in. Really enjoy your videos.
Thank you. Just me in DragBoss Garage, doing what I do. Giving back to you.
Congrats.....
1.29 short and 9.30s. Car is looking good. You gotta' be lovin' that, because I sure am.
Appreciate you. Yes happier than a pig on thanksgiving day. Second run had a 60 ft of 1.27. 😉
@@DragBoss351Cleveland Even better. You'll be going even quicker. Car is working. Nice driving, too. Looks like you were right on the shift light.
@geneticrex yes I was that time. Second time I short shifted 2-3, at 7500, not usual 7900. But now I know what I got to do, see what I can do next Friday.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland That happens sometimes. We've all been there. Nail it down next Friday.
Right O jet carb back too.
Great job Tim !! And you powered around that ls 👍
Thanks 👍
Wowser😯…. 🎉Congratulations Tim🥳🏁, i knew she had it in her & more💪🏼. What a great example of power/weight & 60ft action just badass my friend👍🏼🏁
Thanks Janks just an ol NA Cleveland. Thanks for the support mate. 2nd run 1.27 60
@@DragBoss351Cleveland always👍🏼, man that’s a slingshot👌🏼i can definitely see it quicker with more runs💪🏼🏁
@69JANKS that is what I’m thinking. And now can get back on the mustang
@@DragBoss351Cleveland If the rest of that run was the same, that would give you a 9.34 !!
@arkhsm nope 9.42, I short shifted 2-3 7500, not 7900, jet up also?
Congratulations Tim!
Thank you. For sure. 👍
Great job on the set up and performance ! Very nice car !
Thanks Bobby, she is hooking
Awesome. Sounds great revs. Smooth and strong.
And singing a song, thanks Don
Glad to see your car back on the track at last. Congratulations!!t
Thank you Marc, very much appreciated
9.36 💥💪 my friend you have reached sensei status. All that with a 2bolt main Cleveland.
Holy guacamole 😅
That is something to be proud of.
Thank you. Now what do I do, what is the next level. Yes 2 bolt , 4 bolt no difference to me. Very proud thanks 😊
Yeh you can get to the point of diminished return.
@iggyfritz7150 I like sensei status just fine.
One of the baddest cars around. I love this thing.
She will hold her own, and then some.
Great job Tim!
Good things take time, as you know well too. Thanks
Definitely one wicked car!!!!!!!!!
She will hold her own, against them. 🏁🇺🇸👍
Looked like it trapped about 7800 but may have been the camera angle. Clevelands love RPM's for sure and it sounded great like our old C3 headed 358ci super late model dirt cars. Just cant get enough of it...
Trapped like 8200. Rpm rules. Thank you Rick
She's a Screamer. Great Job Hoss !! Good to see all the hard work pay off. She sounds Sweeet!!
Thanks Chris. Yes lots of hard work and thankful that she runs as good as she does.
Brother that's Awesome. Car looks great and runs like a bat out of hell.
Thanks Steve, working like a rocket and on rails.
Nice job Tim...car performed awesome, now take that 4150 off of there and put a big Dominator on it and let her eat, lol.
Thanks Mike. Previously best with dominator 9.66, with 4150 9.68. You never know if you never know.
Awesome!!
Very, thanks
Awesome job!
Thanks don
That was fun ride. Lol
Glad you’re there.
The smell of racing gas and rubber is great. But running down the strip is always the best!
Until you do it, can only imagine. Thanks
Awesome Result Brother !! Congratulations, it always feels nice to achieve a new E.T. goal.. let alone SMASH IT !!. Cool stuff.. 🍻
Not to mention 5.94 in the 1/8th !!. Very impressive.
I appreciate the comment, yes, I need goals to stay focused. Thanks again
😎That’s an animal! We run Q16 in my boys foxbody coupe. 429ci sbf with tfs hi ports. We only run 1/8th but it’s ran 5.45 and consistent 5.50s. We put it on a diet this winter and are hoping to squeeze a 5.30 out of it.
Love the stuff. Your car is hauling good luck with your goal.
Sounds strong !!!!
Thanks she is running the number 🏁
142mph! That's haulin' in a steel car... congrats!
She is cooking Ben. Hope the fairmont is ready to come out.
Well done Tim
Great first pass
Very satisfied I'm sure , it's a credit to you
That wheel alignment worked a treat
Guiding the Clevo nuclear reactor straight and true.
Engine sound that only a Cleveland can make
Thanks Warrior, I let go of the button and it was rail city. Yes she don’t take no prisoners. Love the sound too.
PURE AWESOME!!!!!!
Very pure and very fast.
O’ yes - spectacular run too:)
9.36 - that’s almost time travel.
Especially for a street driver
Very well done! The Cat is flyin. Looks like you laid waste to that supercharged COPO Camaro too! Nice job!
I had to take care of business, hammer time. NA laid waste to that huffer
😁Yes! Ford Cleveland ÷ Drag Boss Family= Awesome. Thanks!
Thank you so much, the family was cheering for me ❤️
Awesome!!! The hard work, time, and resources invested are paying off 🏁😎👍
I know your one to be always looking for an edge; I'd bet it would go even faster with a dominator on it using a speadbore to 4150 adaptor. Also if your playing with fuels, you'll notice VP-Racing sells Q16 as well as Q16-REG (the Q16-REG is more appropriate for N/A engines / maybe you're already using that), but VP also sells a fuel called C45. C45 is pretty much the top-of-the-heap for gasoline based N/A drag racing engines, but it will take pretty significant tuning-changes to both timing and jetting for it worth switching from away from Q16-REG if your tuned perfectly on that (you'd want to read up on C45 tuning, before committing to switching; just like Q16 it take a a lot more fuel flow and less timing than C12, and the safe tuning window is smaller 😬 but could be worth +20HP on a combination like yours over Q16).
Wishing you all the best!!!
Thanks Eric. Just using Q16, no reg. I will have to look into that. I may try Dominator. Before it ran 9.66 with dommy and 9.68 with 4150. I think headers were holding me back. The 2 inch picked up close to 25 hp, along with head work of course. Probably won’t mess with any fuels but reg, I’m lazy that way. I will do some research. The engine only is 13.3 so not sure if C45 would be beneficial. Thanks again
Nice job!
You can wheel a hotrod.
A fast hotrod.
And I drive it with two feet. lol Thanks Mohan
Absolutely awesome, probably the best sounding Cleveland around Tim. Hats off to everybody involved with the build and Congratulations. Can't wait to see it run again
She will hold her own for sure. Yes plan on going out next 3 Fridays, then too hot to race for me.
Love the car!!!!! Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, thank you very much.
That's impressive Tim, 9.36 out of the box, the Cleveland sounded great.
Great engine tuning,
Great driving,
Great camera work.
All the product of your hard work, congratulations on your success.
Just curious, what RPM did you launch at?
Hail the mighty Cleveland!
Thank you impressed me too. I knew it was on a run, when I was slowing down, not like I remembered. Thanks for noticing the cams. I launch at 3300 rpm, run that Convertor. Hail to the Boss🏁
These people running their mouths don’t know anything about the potential of the Cleveland platform. I went 9.0’s with an iron closed chamber headed Cleveland on a 175 shot. Very little porting done on the cylinder heads. Factory crankshaft, forged rods, and forged flat top pistons. Chris Parker funnel web intake, Mechanical roller cam, C4, 4000 stall converter and with 4:56 gears. Car weighed 2600 lbs with me in it. I want to see a 350 Chevy go 9.0’s with a factory iron double hump cylinder heads in a 2600 lbs car. And not professionally built, Because I’m just your basic car guy, who does pay attention to detail and asks questions. 9.30’s on motor in a 3200-3400lbs Cougar is badass. This car would definitely be in the eight’s with a 100 shot. Great job Tim and thanks for all the great videos and information that you’ve shared with us.
Thanks so much. You have to cover every detail. Twice. Clean the block three times. You get the picture. It’s the attention too and knowing the details. You’re welcome trying to give back what I can.
HI CONGRATS on that run..
I have a 1970 351c 2 bolt main closed chamber heads 4v.
Semi stock re build early 1980 s. less than 50 miles on engine due to non use/starting etc , cam wiped. non roller cam.
Can you list the details of your engine build here?
Saw the details flash on this video but hard to follow.
Would like to get new rebuild on engine thus appreciate your help.
GOD blessed you with your loving family support.
LIFE got in my way , project sitting since early 80 s.
TY
I will do a video of the build and specs. But too much to list here. Good luck with the build. Yes important to have my family involved...Thanks
You are a considerate racer as you spotted the bowtie craparo about 4 tenths and drove around him for the W. He thought his LS powered thing was a match for the old ford beside him. Not likely 😅
Do you know the guy in the Camaro or just playing pretend?
I was like see ya cleveland, cleveland to the front. 🏁 against that 100k dollar craparo.
Well I did feel it would do better than a 9.50, so 9.36 sounds great, I bet there is more. Great Tim, sure is good too see you make a run, has to feel GOOD !
Like I can’t describe the feelings. Talking it up like I have been and finally did it. I never thought 9.30s. Ready to rock.
Tim, I was walking through a Pick-N-Pull yard last week and saw a Fairmont coupe, in white. The body had some rust but I could envision a Glidden replica. If only I had deeper pockets...
I know thinking that one over seriously. Sub has a car for me. Hmmm
Congrats!!! Glidden himself would be impressed with that build and the pro stock like sound of the engine!!!
I bet he would like too, He would be like hammer that bitch DragBoss. Thanks
Early in the year, Air Density likely added between one and two tenth's and a couple of Mph or maybe more from what's generally expected. Reguardless... "It Rocks"
Of course it did, right on. That’s why I like only racing on spring and fall. 😉
You happy with the handling for the front end changes?
Having confidence in the car goes a long way.
Suggest going over everything before heading out again.
Seat time and tuning, it’ll only get better…
Thanks for sharing Tim.
Yes happy. Handles like it is on rails. Steers well. Yes, I was concerned when I let go of that button, but started smiling quickly. Yes go over it all. Won’t mess with Caltracs. Mrs DragBoss adjusted them 👍❤️
Great run Tim congratulations car sounds awesome love the way you drove around that Camaro Cleveland’s love the big end I predict high 8’s in the future!
Thanks Brian. Maybe 9.20s, don’t think it can make it in the 8s, but never say never. See ya later camaro
#DBG put a hurting on that camaro!! 1.29 60'. I noticed she ran strong out the back end, too!! After 5 years, I'd say your muscle memory is in tact. Interested in your thoughts in some chassis suspension improvements on the car over the years too?
Dropped the hammer and said see ya later. Can always email. Thanks
@@DragBoss351Cleveland Looked like the Camaro gave up when Clevo power blew past !!
He gained 27 mph in the 2nd 8th so some carb tuning may even get better.@arkhsm
@arkhsm yep, kicked in the secondaries.
wow a 9.36 thats really great that you went faster than you were expecting to. your car is one of the nicest sounding cars, great to see it run down the track and WIN. keep up the great work Tim well done mate
Thanks Craig, always appreciate you being here and supporting my channel. I worked hard as you know to make it what it was and she had always delivered. Thanks my friend.
Great job Tim !! And you powered around that last 👍
Thanks. Said see ya later alligator
Sound's awesome, runs really good on old tyres. Those tyres will be marginal at 5+ years old. In most cases, the cords in the tyre casing degrade strength wise at 2% per year or more. The 2% number is the best case scenario. I know this because a good friend of mine was actually contracted to run the tests for various bodies that were looking into failures related to the fibres.
They worked. First pass was 1.29, and second was 1.27. Run then a few more times and replace before fall. Thanks Greg, she scoots and hooks
Congrats , ,,, C-4 or C-6 , you probably have said , somewhere , but I forgot ,,, ?
C4 I built myself
Amazing Tim. So jealous of you. Only hope my Cleveland will run this good.
Don’t be jealous, be prepared. And be fast.
Well done Tim! That was a dam good run! It looks to me like that car has the potential to dip into the 8's! Who said Clevelands can't produce what it takes!
I know it, who was that. Maybe 9.20s. Can’t say, see how it goes.
That's what I'm talking about! Need that sound as a ring tone! Great goodness Tim what a badass ride!! DBG for the win!!!!
DBG 🏁, yes it would be a killer tone. I would be calling myself all the time. lol
Congratulations, Tim.
Thanks John
Did Daren do the intake or just the heads. The car worked well, I would be proud of it.good job man .
Heads and intake. I sure am.
Q is amazing, you were probably running into the same problem with the c12 we ran into. Make sure to drain the fuel and get it out of the engine because it will eat the cylinder walls and tops of your pistons
I have wondered about that. I have touched it since Friday, will drain today, carb, lines and cell need to be drained too?
@@DragBoss351Cleveland yes, it’s extremely corrosive. It tore up some of our needles & seats
We have a picture too of what that fuel did to a piston after sitting on top of it for about 6 hours
@carlywolfracing Wowser. Should be fine for a couple of days. Going out to drain everything. Cell too?
Dam, been in there Friday, I will fire it up, and warm it up. Shut off and drain switch back to c12 and run it through.
Congrats on a new pb. Looks like the chassis worked well and the car went A-B straight as an arrow. Good Job!
Yes sir Steve. Was concerned for sure. Yes drove like a dream. Need a cup holder now.
Impressive first pass off the trailer Tim. Quite the adrenaline rush, no doubt.
Thanks Dave, I knew I was on after I let go of the button. Then just like back in the office. Pure rush.
That's one bad Cleveland. Nice street/strip Cougar. Ronnie.
Thanks Ronnie, she runs well.
Huge congratulations Tim!!! I knew u would make your goal np and u crushed it!! Absolutely killer bud!!
