You are surely one of Greece's greatest cultural ambassadors and have done more to promote and document this spectacular country than most. PS I wonder if you have ever seen the Greek islands of the Libyan Sea (below Crete)? Gavdopoula, Gavdos (the southernmost point in both Greece and Europe), Koufonisi (not to be confused with Ano Koufonissi near Naxos), and Chrysi are the main islands here and are generally not so known. Koufonisi is uninhabited and for me the real nature gem. A serious beach/nature lover like yourself would be amazed since the geology is so unique, and exotic even for Greece. I can only dream to have someone properly documenting it on the ground. The only quality video on it so far is ua-cam.com/video/ZLgSxwxhj6g/v-deo.html. Just passing it along.👍

Think about the complexities of infrastructure in areas like these. Supplying electricity, water, storm water drainage, sewerage, waste disposal, then supplying all those restaurants and businesses around those thousands of stairs and precipitous heights with little or no vehicle access.

Unfortunately true, but don't forget tourism is just about Greece's main industry and source of income. So it is a necessary fact of life in this area. For less tourism but incredible scenic beauty - and far more trees and vegetation 😊the Ionian Islands is recommended. My family is from Ithaca originally.
@@rainscratch Yes I have been there as well. In 2019 I spent two weeks on Kefalonia and Ithaca. It is an absolutely spectacular part of Greece and and yes so green compared to the Aegean islands. Greece is one of my favorite countries on Earth, and I have visited many of the islands. But Santorini is the one I will likely never return to, due to the mass over-tourism. There are more foreigners than Greeks on the island, and it has lost all authenticity..
And despite that, you will find many places in Santorini where tourists barely set foot and where you will be alone. However, despite some minuses, a visit to Santorini is a wonderful and unforgettable experience of a lifetime that you will not experience anywhere else! 😉
@@robertpolasek Ok they must be busy sometime otherwise so many can't survive. Absolutely stunning video in the hills, caves, the views, architecture, amazing perspective of the airport. About half way through - its nearly 1am so will catch the other half tomorrow.

We haven't been to any of them, but when we film Eastern Crete, we would like to visit at least Gavdos and Koufonisi.
