  • If you can only do one hike in Liechtenstein, this is it!! Hike with me on this rewarding route, enjoy the spectacular views, and get all the information you need for this trail.
    Fürstensteig (Prince's Path) (Route 994) is a classic trail 1,200 m above the capital, Vaduz.
    I cover 2.4 km of this trail in this video. Alternatively, you can do a 6 km loop trail (details below).
    *This trail may not be suitable for those with a fear of heights, pack accordingly as there are alpine sections with unpredictable weather and potentially cold temperatures.
    This is Part 1 of 2 videos covering my full one way 12.5 hike/trail run on my day trip to Liechtenstein from Zurich.
    For Part 1, I start from Gaflei parking lot 1,488 m (bus information below), walk pass the tree line, enter the cliff-side rocky section of Fürstensteig looking over the Rhine Valley and Liechtenstein, then arrive at Gafleisattel 1,856 m (Gaflei Saddle) for a fresh change of scenery.
    For Part 2, I will continue to cover multiple peaks in some alpine treacherous terrain for an adventurous experience. I cover the peaks of Gafleispitz 2,000 m , Kuhgrat 2,123 m , Garsellakopf 2,105 m , and Drei Schwestern 2,052 m before the downhill to Planken (for a bus return to Vaduz)
    Enjoy the beautiful mountains of Liechtenstein and the ambience of the trails. I will show you the sights along the way. Weather was great and I am very happy with the footage
    Enjoy the background music, run/walk along your treadmill, and explore with me!
    Skip ahead to these sights with the timeline below.

    Wow! What an amazing video and a wonderful hike! I skipped through the video here and there since I don't want to spoil the hike for me when I go to Liechtenstein, but thank you for doing an unedited full hike for us to watch at home. Now I know what to expect and I love what I see!!

    It looks quite scary to hike along the edge of the cliffs

      Yes, the 1,000m+ drop is scary and quite shocking in comparison to trails in Hong Kong. Eventually, you get used to it (not if the weather's bad!)
      Watch my next video for even scarier trails!! I filmed it so you can get the experience while being safe at home 😆

      Thank you for your support!! I love Norway, was in Trondheim a few months ago and visited the Oslo-Bergen area multiple times. Beautiful area! Surprising to find hikes similar to hiking along the sides of fjords in Liechtenstein. Thanks for visiting my little piece of the internet!

    Looks like bear country, do you need to carry bear spray repellant on these trails?

    • @RunThatMile
      @RunThatMile  25 днів тому

      No bears in this area, it's also not an extremely quiet trail so it's fairly safe (animal-wise)

    I want to do this while I visit the area in 3 weeks. Does this route have the metal ropes the whole time?

    • @RunThatMile
      @RunThatMile  11 місяців тому

      Only a few dangerous areas have metal ropes. I barely needed to use any of them. Hope you enjoy your trip!

    What month was this trek video tapped in? And by which month does the snow on Liechtenstein's peaks melt away?

    • @RunThatMile
      @RunThatMile  Рік тому +1

      Hey Vivek, the video was filmed mid-August. I haven't tested the trails on other months, but late May/June seems to be the time snow dissipates.
      Much of the trail is over 2000m in elevation, I would look for weather forecasts or reports for the days you plan to visit.
      This is one of the options.

      If you happen to hike in the marginal months, be safe and let us know the conditions which will be helpful for others!!

      @Vivek Dhande @@RunThatMile I am considering trekking along the Austrian-Liechtenstein border in mid-May, so knowning how much snow there is on those 2400m peaks would be super helpful!
