Like he understands that the food is raw unless its prepared and unsafe if not prepared (for humans) so he thinks the same for his? Im not the dog so i cant confirm but thats likely what it is.
My dogs LOVE watching me prep their food. My Shar Pei Especially will watch with so much excitment I fall in love with him all over again everytime i see it. But the one thing I always do when I finish is toss the Mixing Spoon in the sink from wherever Im standing and when he sees that he goes BALLISTIC and it is the funniest and most adorable thing I have ever seen.
Dogs are very loyal and intelligent beings and have evolved along with man and although they can't speak like us they have their own ways of letting us know somethings up! if your wife or whoever just every single day just fed you buy grabbing a metal dish grad a box of basically cereal and puts a bit in the dish quickly and drops it on the floor Infront of you it would get pretty boring and these clever emotional animals know that especially when they see and smell you taking almost a hour every day on your own nice meal ! it always amazes me by how human and loyal and clever our little friends are and God bless them,real true members of our families!!!
