WOW!❤Just now discovered your playing&❤it!! Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, that mixolydian bit starting at 5:13 slayed it! I see you’re a Kiesel artist;I was thinking about getting a Holdsworth limited, thoughts?
His playing is very melodic and soulful. His melodies, phrasing and solo comes from a soulful place. I'm hearing a tinge of jazz and smooth jazz at times.
Ah jesus Al, you've done it again!! Fabulous tone and phrasing, beautiful development of melodies and some seriously tasty runs, more more more please!
Hey Al, really like your content. As I was watching and listening something came to mind which is that this new generation of shredders meaning everyone born from about 1990 onward is very different. I was born in 1967 and I remember that the first generation of shredders was solely preoccupied with speed and it got to a point where, even I myself started making jokes about shredders because it was more of a circus act where guys played scales up and down the fretboard at high speed than actual music. This younger generation incorporated melody and a far more musical element to the actual shred techniques making it something very different and more complete. Cheers. Mike.
Satriani was awesome in the 80s and 90s, he was always melodic and had awesome shredding to go with it. But he's not like that anymore, he just plays all this grungy sounding music that doesn't resonate with me. I like the young Satriani he was more melodic, creative and energetic. I suppose he's getting old and tired I guess. Like great athletes, we can't expect them to be like how they were when they were younger. I was thinking Al could become the new Vernon Reid haha! 😄 He had a killer riff on the Occult of Personality rock song of Living Color, but it didn't last long, just a one hit wonder, damn I was hoping Vernon Reid could've created more great songs n riffs, because African Americans don't really get into rock music they're more dancey type music lovers, but when they do they blow us away like Jimi Hendrix as well. I'm a 1967 baby as well, I used to listen to my mum's record collection in the early 80s, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, all the 60s and 70s music. I've been listening to The Doors lately, I don't get into any of the music of today it just doesn't turn me on, I'm always listening to old music of the 90s, 80s, 70s etc, I still listen to the old R n B soul music as well sometimes, well we did grow up with the disco sounds of the 70s n 80s. Maybe lm just getting old and too set in my ways 😄 I'll be 54 in October 😄 lts a crazy crazy crazy crazy life / from the band Kiss of course, great line though!!!
Oh yes I forgot and there's African American guitarist Robert Cray with his Strong Persuader album, plus African American guitarist Eric Isley from The Isley Brothers hit song in the 70s "That Lady" Ernie Isley playing that mean lead guitar
I'm a fan of Andy James and I love the melodic and bluesy of Al Joseph's playing, he has become one of my favorites since I first saw him, and just as you said race has nothing to do with it, in fact i'm happy to see that he is a dark colored guy representing that music does not involve race or ethnicity in the player! Rock and Roll \m/
It's an custom guitar made by Warmoth guitar parts. The pickups are Dimarzio Crunch Lab (bridge) and LiquiFire (neck). Not quite sure about the middle pickup though ;) I am an owner of a guitar made with Warmoth parts and it is the best guitar I have ever played and most beautiful I've seen! hope this helps :) try google "Warmoth guitar parts" to check Warmoth out!
The only thing I would change is a step-up in the middle or 3/4 of the way through the song. It`s always easy looking at it after it is finished. Especially when it involves yourself.
Year 2022, and this track still face melted!
I just listened to it again 7 years later and it still sounds killer 😎
JTC is forming a wolf pack! Andy, Guthrie, Marco, and now this dude. Awesome!
