Two of my favorite artists and I never expected them to collaborate. Amazing that Elton wrote the music on the spot. His vocal was amazing. White’s backing vocal eas perfect and his guitar fills were subdued compared to his usual guitar work but he played with taste and fire. Love it!
Elton John can be such a prima Donna but is so so talented...I guess that's why we love his work..
Elton’s sequence in American Epic, nestled amongst others by artists as diverse as Willie Nelson and Nas, shows him composing the music to a newly delivered lyric from Bernie Taupin and then recording the song in one go, via a single antique microphone on to a reassembled electrical sound recording system from the 1920s (“I thought it was an espresso machine!” laughed Bernie upon seeing the device for the first time), straight to disc.

@@robindeanna1323 You want to be really shocked. When Bernie first handed Elton the lyrics for Your Song, it only took Elton 30 minutes to write the music.

oh that blues in Elton's voice in "I wanna howl" - this was composed right on the occasion, and performed flawlessly.
I love the look on Jack White’s face when Elton turns up the growl in the second verse.
