    I'm so happy I ran into your video! I am doing my kitchen cabinets and I've done the pure white chalk paint, I have sealed them with clear wax and I've been putting off the dark wax. This is exactly the look I was going for! Just didn't know how to achieve it! Thank you so very much! Keep the videos coming! Thank you!!!!

    Oh my goodness Amy, the hutch is absolutely Gorgeous!!! It's a masterpiece! It's one of my favorite pieces too! The Vintage Blue color that you used inside the hutch is perfect. You have developed such an art and made a museum of farm art. Much love to you.

      Thanks Lynda !! I was a lot of work from start to finish with this hutch, but I had fun and love how it turned out. The waxing was actually really easy (just time consuming). Thanks again and hope you are enjoying your day ! HUGS :)

    Did you buff the clear wax before you applied the black wax?

      I applied the clear wax with a white t-shirt as a rag and I went back and rubbed it in a few minutes later.

    I love ❤️what you did to the hutch. I was looking in the description box to figure out what color and brand of blue you used. I have been watching and following you for awhile. I have tried some of the things you’ve done. You inspire me to do so many things sew, craft and to make something old new again. Tfs

    Oh Amy. You should send a picture of that hutch to the original manufacturer so that they can see the difference. You never know your inspiration could inspire them to take out from plain wood to chalk paint degressed. I just have my Ethan Allen coffee table to the church. And now, of course. Bright idea chalk paint and distressed. Oh boy. Think it is too late to get it back?????. Hahah could of sold it like that. Oh well. It is beautiful and you can make good money doing those a nd selling them . Your just soooooo talented lady. Hey what are you down too now? Your looking good. HAVE YOU hit your goal weight? I have a curling iron called a ribbon curler that I just love. My next video I will use that curling iron so you can see it. It resembles the curl you had and every time I use it i get lots of compliments. But I think I may buy the one you have so I can have so many options.

    So cute! I've had the issue with lettering being backwards and I printed out the image from Graphics Fairy, cut out the lettering I wanted from the forward facing image, pasted it to the flipped image and then made my final copy. A little more work but not too difficult. (Harder to explain than to do. lol)

    How well does the wax hold up to traffic?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  7 років тому +1

      I usually use a polyacrylic top coat on area that have high traffic like the tops of my pieces (tops of dressers and tables) and I use wax on the base. Wax does really well after its cured (usually 30 days) with regular traffic, but high traffic areas where water (such as cups and food) will be used often I would use a top coat poly instead. I use wax on the doors of hutches because that isn't a high traffic area (just opening and shutting) but I wouldn't use a wax on kitchen cabinets because they get alot more traffic. With the wax, if it starts to look "dull" then a clear wax can be reapplied and buffed to bring back the shine and softness look. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching .....HUGS :)

      Thanks April !! It was actually pretty easy. I'm glad I finally broke down and decided to experiment a little. I sat and looked at this piece for over a week and couldn't decide what I wanted to do. So happy how it turned out. Thanks again and hope you are enjoying your day! HUGS :)

    You use 'rooster' to refer to both rooster and chicken images and figures? (If it matters, 'le poulet' is chicken, 'le coq' is rooster). As to reversing the image with the text...could you have done the image transfer, minus the script, to reverse it, and then transferred the text, separately, with proper orientation? (I've done similar when designing images worked into knit garments.) Your piece turned out great, and perfect scale given the space/height limitations of the guest house. Enjoy your experimentation, results.

      Thanks !! You would think with me being a mid-west girl that I'd know the difference between a rooster and a chicken...lol. Thanks for the tips!! Hope your day is a great one !! HUGS :)
