Travel to northern Spain & discover Hondarribia with it's tasty Pintxos & beautiful beach. Hondarribia has a beautiful old town packed full of history while the locals cram the bars/restaurants to discuss day to day life over wine or beer.
Pintxos, pronounced Pinchos, is available in nearly all the bars in Hondarribia. For those who don't know, Pintxos is a delicious bite sized snacks to accompany a drink & can be selected from a menu or by simply pointing to the desired taste you seek. They can vary from olives with fish on a stick called 'Gilda' to cooked lumps of steak cooked rare, both of which are amazing!
We stayed in the hotel Palacete located in the old town, a beautiful hotel with its outside bar area spilling out onto the public plaza. We paid €55 per night for a basic double room with en-suite. Was very comfortable and helpful staff made our stay most enjoyable. There are lots of things to see and do with in this town from old churches to beaches.
To get to Hondarribia you fly to San Sebastián airport which is actually 10 mins from the old town of Hondarribia, perfect for visiting this area of Spain.

Hondarribia is a Basque city, from Basque Country, a stateless nation with 7 provinces, 4 under Spain and 3 under France. I think is a lack of respect to hide the origin of this city. Basque Country exists. Basque people exist.
