- Hello and Welcome to the Flow. Today on Cycling With Sully we are comparing the 2021 model years of the Trek X-Caliber 8, the Giant XTC SLR 29 2 and the Specialized Chisel. All of these bikes are race ready cross country mountain bikes that are priced more affordably in the $1,200-$1,375 price range. Today what we will be looking for is weight, price and off course value.
The Trek X Caliber 8 has SRAM SX Eagle too, sorry for the mistake.

Great videos man. Just a suggestion, maybe include the geometry as well in your comparisons? Like head tube angles, wheel base and chain stay length, etc. Just to give viewers an idea of some of the differences besides just specs and price.
Specialized chisel is a lot more than 1300 dollars

Not sure about the others but the Chisel usually goes for about $1600 now, as specced in the vid. The more expensive one goes for $1800-1900.
Just picked my Xtc Slr 29 2 yesterday. Bike is awesome. Didn’t come across your video until now. Luckily i picked the right now lol. Nice review video

Xcaliber 9 mejores componentes la giant está buena pero la verdad la suspención crest no es muy recomendable tube una fhaton 2 truena mucho la suspención

@@giovannivattuone290 finalmente compré la trek xcaliber 8, me pareció muy buena bicicleta por un precio mejor que la giant y la specialized, pues en mi país la diferencia entre ellas es grande. Te recomiendo la trek si eres un ciclista aficionado, pero si ya estás compitiendo puedes buscar otras opciones

I actually just bought a 2021 (supposedly) that's coming in a few days. What's the differences between the 2020 and 2021? Just so I know they're not giving me a 2020 lol.
@@chenspeed the 2021 has a curve in the seatpost, the 2020 has a straight seatpost. You can see the diffrence very clearly
@@chenspeed a dead give away is the seatpost size. The new one uses a 30.9 seatpost.

2022 giant xtc cost 2200 CAD without tax. And the 2022 xcal 8 cost 1930 without tax. Not sure which is more bang for buck
Though the xtc has slx tier parts but framewise I would want to hear from you
2022 XTC had better frame
1) it had a Thru axle. which makes upgrading wheelset much easier. compared to X-Caliber which still uses a 9mm quick Release which is common in Entry Level Budget Bikes.
2) XTC had Better components compared to X-Caliber
@@silver_c1oud yeah I saw it was a quick release. Saddened me when I saw it, white and red color was soo nice but the quick release makes it feel cheap
Please don't call MT200 brakes. This is complete piece of junk. Check if you can get any service parts for Giant Crest. You can't. It is on Suntour Raidon level. XTC weights 12kg.
But the frame is a good Platform if you want to Upgrade.
Here in our country XTC SLR came with Mt500 but eventually uograded it to SLX and Reba Fork

But the Trek has a mount for a rear rack so you can use the bike for commuting and bikepacking with panniers. Maybe you can save your money from buying a second bike. In this way the Trek is het cheapest.

There are some Accessory You Can Buy that doesnt require those Mount...
At this Price Segment, this is an entry Level Race Bike, So if you just want a Commuters Bike go for the Lower Model.
on the other Hand Having a thru Axle is Way better than quick Release.
1) If You Intent to Upgrade Your Components, there are alot of New & Better Suited for those Frame (Giant And Spez)
2) Quick Release is Slowly Dying.
Most Brand New Hubs Right Now is Mostly Either Boost or Non Boost Thru Axle.
3) For me The Main Components to Look for in a Bike is 1 Frame 2 suspension 3 drivetrain. other parts is just easy to replace, but Having a frame with Quick Release, Your choice of better components Is Limited.
Trek is a Good Bike dont get me Wrong, But for this Price Segment, specially against its competitor.
Trek is Terrible. specially with X-Caliber Series

Just a suggestion: people can go online and find out the specs of the bike. Your video would be of more help if you actually gave a 1st hand account of how they actually ride on a trail. I understand that would be expensive to purchase all 3 bikes though.
Yes I am aware of this issue and I will be addressing it in my next video.
Go and test ride it yourself, he is only helping you to not go blind into the bike shop.
Feeling of the bike is subjective and varies from each individual.
You can't go wrong with any of the 3.
