I love where I'm at in Quezon city, grass residents , they have 6- 40 story building with 6 pools gym and walled in and has a skyway conected to sm mall with all the restaurants and supper market for a little over 300 a month
As someone who is thinking of coming over I found this video very helpful. More if this info on locations, amenities and rents would be very good. Thanks
I live in Rizal province, about 3 hours from Manila in rush-hour, an hour off-peak. I tend to get my food from wet markets or local stalls or even roadside vendors. There is a branch of a supermarket chain, Market Place, that I go to for 'Western' items I can't get locally, e.g. cheese, yoghurt, charcuteries, wine, non-sugared bakery products, etc. It's relatively expensive (although not exorbitant) but, having lived in Hong Kong and shopping at the same chain, it's a steal.
I just keep on looking at the green plants and bright sunshine in the background of most of your video's. That is what I am looking forward to. I count the number of times the sun is in my eyes driving to work. In the past 6 months it has been 15 times. Yes, June, July, and August are much better but that is only 3 months comapred to what, every month there? I am just waiting for my pension to start and I am there in the Ph.
I just lived in Tagaytay for a month. The rents are very cheap there ($160 Aud a month) however, it was a long walk to shops etc and very basic living conditions. I would rather pay more for better quality and live style. Tagaytay is actually a nice place to stay until you have to travel for many hrs to Manila for immigration etc.
Hi steve thanks for the mention in your video. I like that idea of table and chairs under the carport. Getting the house cleaned up little by little and unpacking. I do feel really fortunate for being able to find this place. And thanks again for the help between you and ruben. Made the transition alot easier!!!
Thanks for the time and research.Down to earth, user friendly, real time info.Enjoy very much wide range of options you present to your viewers..Educational,informative,entertaining.I subscribe and like very much!!!
Filinvest City Alabang is the sweet spot. I couldn't live in the province in those concrete closets. S&R, Landers, home depot, Wilcon, Asian Hospital all close, have high security, Sky Garden, pool, gym, car, scooter all for $1,700 only. That's how I enjoy my retirement. Pick a unit with no common walls, there out there.
I have a house rental in Bayawan city ( negros oriental) in a good area ( Amparo village) that’s only $120 a month… 2 bedroom and modern / clean inside .. there’s no yard but at least it’s got a lg patio on two side and a wall / gate ( I have a dog )… I’m arriving in only two weeks from now ( God willing) and am very excited ( a little anxious too 😅)… it’s located in the center of the village and no traffic or noise at all..no roosters crowing either!..
According to statistics in Visayas these are safe Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Tagbilaran City, Bohol Mandaue City, Cebu Talisay City, Cebu I wonder if it because of universities, or high education, or is it something else?
From a legal stand point, What options do the Landlords have when tenants fall behind. Do they have a small claims courts ? Can they change out the locks & hold the contents until the rent is caught up ? But with landlords requiring 1st & last month's rent, tenants shouldn't fall behind until at least 3 month's
For me I would not rent I bought to be able to leave my family a legacy when I go , but not every one is able to buy a house and lot. My thoughts five years monthly rent is the price of a house and lot. I think every ones situation is different.
It’s basically down to supply and demand issues, ya know if your in a more affluent area ..you’ll be paying more. I’m disappointed in the standards Ie bathrooms and fit and finish. This is one reason why I’m gonna build as I would like a higher standard of living etc. Within the subic freeport it’s highly regulated ..no roosters ..no karaoke etc. We will break ground in approx 6/7 weeks ..it’s a exciting time. We will visit the expo over the weekend for suppliers etc..any excuse to visit Manila and the great food and culture..ps love BGC.
Food wise and the Philippines. I guess me being Celiac is a blessing in disguise, because there is so much I cannot eat to begin with. That and I eat to live and I do not live to eat, and having cravings for anything has become a thing of the past. So the basic Philippine food list of the same old, same old is just fine with me. Our last visit to the province the other month, in Southern Leyte close to Sogod, there is no western foods at all, hell the closest Jollibee is an hour away (75KM) in Maasin. Life is good! !!!-Mabuhay-!!!
a home that you mentioned is what i am looking for when i retire, my girlfriend is looking for safety, peace and quiet, as i am also. steve will be there real soon.
Excellent points. I will be in gated community. Just about everything I need can be bought within or nearby. I have a great area to ride a bicycle and a large pool. It’s quiet. Where did you purchase your dumbbells? Lazada?
Wish that were true in my area. Lol Can't complain though, nice quiet street, no dogs barking, no loud neighbors, no car/tricycle traffic and no roosters. I pay P40k, 4 bed 3 bath 180m2 but it's well worth it. Mango trees everywhere, jackfruit in front yard and plenty of room for my future garden for veggies. Less than 5 min walk to markets downtown and about 6 min Kuda ride to SM. 2 guarded gate entries where one is secured at 10pm.
Hi Steve. Is it easy to find a long term lease while still overseas? By long term I mean 6 to 12 months. Would like to find one for ourselves, preferably furnished, starting from mid April.
Hello Stephen. I’m returning in June (last year spent 4 months in country). I’m thinking I’m gonna try Puerto Galeria this trip. Any suggestions or advice? My goal is to start staying in the Philippines 8 or 9 months a year for now. If I meet the right Filipina I might make it year round.
Have you ever tried Starlink (internet) in the Philippines? If it's applicable over there, how is the installation/speed of the internet? If you do have it (or planning to do so) will you make a vlog out of it (including the installation/searching for the satellite signal & the speed)? And perhaps the comparisons between Starlink & local internet companies in the Philippines. Thanks.
IDN but who needs to overspend on housing when you're retired. I'll bet you can negotiate with the landlord on price if you prove to be reliable with payment and don't destroy, but enhance the place. No more keeping up with the Joneses.
Good info . Like most Americans some familiar food is good now and then. I don't want to live away from multiple restraunts lol so I'm good living by a mall and lots of culinary choices
Hello Sir, what do you think of building a fourplex?,,, for renting purposes?,,, what’s are the security measures for building four plexes?,,, my wife whom is a Filipina of 10 years now would be my partner in development,,, but have seen other clogs regarding building there in the southern Philippines,,, what’s your security measures on this thought?,,, am sending tools and equipment,,, ahead in advance,,,
Can if possible you can let us know what HOA fees are per month as I am moving to PH but cannot find out what the HOA fees are-how much $ wise they vary. Thank you.
I'm in Dumaguete now , the cheapest condo that is livable with flat ac. and hot shower in 20 km around Duma... is $400 a month, where you get a condo for $ 100 a month, you just said ????? what about 2 months deposit ? to you trust Philippineos they pay back the deposit after the contract exp. ????? for a western style condo I need 100.000 pesos up front and I'm NOT sure on the end if I get scammed with 50.000 deposit
The cement homes last as long as the grade of sand they used to mix the cement. If you are going to do a karate trick with a cement block, get a block made in SE asia😆
'All the traffic will bear' when a common person is working (if lucky) for 500/day - What Filipino's will tolerate without a second thought we might not be comfortable with. IMO
Rents aren't cheap everywhere in the Philippines, it depends on where you live. There is a large variation in prices. You are often stuck to live where your girlfriend lives.
You should talk about the corruption in the Department of education in the Philippines they had a scandal like 7 months ago about there overpriced Intel celeron laptop 💻 for ₱60k pesos per unit and they just Reason for being custom made.
😎👍🇺🇲 Yeah it's much safer being married and investing your whole life in a home in the US. Certainly no risk of losing it ALL in a divorce 😳 🤣😕 If I ever end up there with the thought of making it my life. I hope to stay in the mode of "it's all temporary". I'd like to be able to pack up and move on easily. Trying to keep in mind that I can stay as long or as short as I wish. I'm not sure if that would help reduce the small annoyances that one could run into or not.🤷 IDK. Cheers.
Hehe, funny but my sad sorry. Living in New Lancaster City I pay 750 US per month. Got it from AirBNB. First the good things. I have a bed to sleep on. AC in bedroom Fans in other rooms. Single burner hot plate Now the bad things. Toilet doesn't flush all waste when you flush and water pressure is not good enough to flush again right away. Have to wait like 5 minutes. Wifi here is spotty at best. So far have tried Globe and Smart. Tiny ants everywhere. 4 other people have keys to this place other then me. Still has Christmas decorations up. No microwave. For 750 a month on Airbnb you expect a convenience store nearby, gym and swimming pool. Have none of that. No washing machine. So, in short this makes 2 times in a row this has happened to me. So maybe I am prone to not taking the best place. PS. Next I will be moving to Pasig/Makati area until I have the SRRV visa. Oh and after all tat is said and done. I am still happy that I am in the wonderful country. Filipinos are just unbelievably welcoming, kind, and accepting. God is treating me well. But still going to try to get a better place next month.
The better question is why are the rents so expensive next door. Got one place that is $100 USD for rent, and 5 doors down they want $500 a month. There is no consistency here and many owners would rather their places stay empty than rent for less than the neighbors.
foreigner looking for small apartment. will put up with kids, dogs, roosters, scooters with no mufflers, mud, litter in the mud, and late night karaoke in exchange for reasonable rent but must be drug free and upwind of the piggery.
Sorry but not true in some cases. We own our own 🏡 home, 3 actually and I have 4 kids living at home. We have a few dogs and cats. They provide good security and rodent control. The chickens make noice but that noise is money to my ears why ? Because not only to we raise them for consumption ourselves but we sell eggs at our store. We have a 6 stall Piggery on our land outside Legazpi city, near manito that we enjoy eating and selling as well. The singing here on Samal Island Garden City Davao has a noisy 10pm stop time during Sunday to Thursday but not on Friday night or Saturday night. Again it's all in what people want to make them happy.
I love where I'm at in Quezon city, grass residents , they have 6- 40 story building with 6 pools gym and walled in and has a skyway conected to sm mall with all the restaurants and supper market for a little over 300 a month

I live in a small one bedroom fully furnished ,split aircon ,free internet, water in the province of Northern Bohol for 10k a month

Thanks for the awesome video! It is informative, insightful, and thought provoking. Thanks again.!
Glad you enjoyed it!
San pablo Laguna is a nice place, too. Never flooded and not very far from Manila

Great video. You covered alot I needed to consider. Thank you so much.
The fish and chips was probably added to cater to British expats. I also noticed a lot of Tesco products in the SM grocery stores.

Most homes here are fairly small with a small footprint.
For me I would not rent I bought to be able to leave my family a legacy when I go , but not every one is able to buy a house and lot. My thoughts five years monthly rent is the price of a house and lot. I think every ones situation is different.

I’d really like to see a vlogger breakdown the costs for an upscale rental and really give me a good picture of what’s available for a 4500/mo budget.
a home that you mentioned is what i am looking for when i retire, my girlfriend is looking for safety, peace and quiet, as i am also. steve will be there real soon.
Here in pangasinan sir you can rent even 2,500.with cr and kitchen with small sala and room.

I believe there is

So low they are not worth worrying about
How do evictions and Rent increases go there?
They get them out fairly quickly it seems
