I have a '99 model in yellow too. Love it. It is such a capable bike, no problem with keeping up with modern bikes of similar capacity, handles well and sounds fantastic. Took mine on track a few times and surprised a few modern bikers with its abilities. Just had to rebuild the front brake calipers due to them binding, not too big. a job and spares easily available. This is a keeper for me. Only regret I ever heard from VFR owners was selling it.
Love the Vfr. I have 3. 1998 project bike building with all the goodies. 1999 for everyday rides. And a 2000 for weekends. Fantastic bike. From Aussie.
hiya i,ve just rebuilt a 1998 engine into a 1999 frame the engine had been sitting in my shed for 10 years so it was a rough build just to see if it would run it started after the third kick in the guts brilliant jumping up and down in the garden neighbours must have i,d won the lottery MOTed in may 2022 put 573 miles on it then sorned 1 dec and now its time change colour from red to blue and other maintenance work superb power and superb sound roll on the end of March 2023 put some more miles on it and watch out for those unpredictable tin can drivers stay safe and don't let anything surprise you
massive vfr fan myself had most models have 2 750 models and a 1200f that v4 engine gear driven cam is still good by todays standards your yellow my dad has one the i often use it due to him been older these days and even though the 750 vfr and 800fi models are old hat they they are still good bikes .
Absolutely amazing bikes for their age. How you like the 1200. I'm looking for a low milage panniers grey one 2012 ish. Love the 800fi though. Can't wait for some better weather.
Lovely bike! I have 1999 50 year anniversary model. I wish I could keep the bike forever, but sadly I'm not that mechanically experienced. I can do simple maintenance, like oil changes or changing brake discs, but afraid to touch the engine. Sadly spares are expensive and hard to get, as well as local mechanics doesn't know how to work on these. Most probably will replace it with DR650, but in my dreams VFR800 will stay as one of the best motorcycles.
Apart from the R and R mines been good 25000 miles. I bought the Haynes manual and do my own fluids plugs brakes. I know a mechanic if anything like fuel injection go wrong but tbh mines been great runner I try to run engine rverh week.
This was a great video. Much different than most of the stuff I see on youtube. Really like the little parts about family and nature. I have a 98 model and it will never leave me by my own choice. Subscribed and hope you make to 1000 subs.
In the US, the yellow model is solely of the year 2000; although, emblazoned on its VIN ID label is 1999. I believe they were manufactured in 1999 and took a near year's journey to the states via the oceans and seas from Japan. This would be similar to manufacturing and receiving dates of, say, a Nissan 300ZX, 1984. Same thing, 1983.
Still got my yellow one with 17000miles (!) and its 23 years old this year. Lots of good equipment incl a high quality Maxton shock. I keep thinking of selling as it is very rarely used but its the longest I have had a bike at 16 years ownership. In reality its probably a £2500 bike max.... think I will likely just keep it. That motor....... 😉 Had 6 in total including a VTec years ago. Modern bikes are fantastic but these VFRs are still terrific machines. No technology just pure biking and a virtually unbreakable unique motor 👍
Nice video. I've just returned to 5th Gen ownership (for the 4th time). Another yellow peril just like the ones before and like the ones before, it'll be cleaned and fettled more than ridden. This one is definitely here to stay though, once and for all.
Mr. GWA, I love my '98 VFR. I don't ever want to sell it. What tank bag do you have and the mount is connected to the fuel filler? Thanks for sharing this video. My other Honda is what you guys call a 'Pan-European' (2007 ST1300 in the USA). I do want a third bike, though. A dual sport. Maybe a Suzuki DR650. My YT channel name is the same on 'vfrdiscussion', 'vfrworld', and 'st-owner' forums.
Spent 6 mo. Shopping for mine...made a deal but had to wait 2 mo. For seller to find his replacement...this is the last year before vetec which kicks in @7000 rpm...I run it @ 4500...& YES the sound is a "whine" from a gear driven cam...have yet to soften the suspension that was set for the track...very hard on tire wear & my balls...lol
Hi do you mean a Blackbird xx ? I have looked at them and like them but there is something about the vfr800fi that gives a great grin factor 😀 it's a amazing machine for its age.
They’re both amazing motorcycles. I own both. A 98 VFR and a 2003 XX. The XX is better for 2up and a much more thrilling motorcycle while being very civil and refined but the VFR does something that no other motorcycle I’ve ridden does. The sounds that come out of this motorcycle are like a symphony all coming together at redline. You couldn’t go wrong with either but the VFR has something more that isn’t apparent on a spec sheet.
I feel they are very capable for its time over engineered bulletproof fuel injected with lovely linked brakes OK like or dislike they are capable machines for a 1999

Absolute keeper awesome in every aspect it just keeps on going
Love the Vfr. I have 3. 1998 project bike building with all the goodies. 1999 for everyday rides. And a 2000 for weekends. Fantastic bike. From Aussie.
I think the best bikes ever made . Thanks for viewing
Sounds like you're a vfr man through and through. 👍👍👍
I used to have one of these, a 98, red, in stock format. It was a very happy little bike, the engine had plenty of fizz and it always turned heads.
Best v4 they are over engineered lovely ride and great sound.
Love that sound, best bike Honda ever built.
Yes I agree thanx

Awesome bikes well worth the effort
A classic Icon, if in decent condition will only go up in value. I’m on my 4th.
I'm having to replace the exhaust now as it has original one. Great bikes
A wonderful machine. Very desirable in my opinion. I rode the silver one. A bit younger. Drop by to check it. Here goes my like. Great video bro.
It's off the road needs a new exhaust now. Great bike yes
@@goingwildagain I see. Ok then.
I have 2 vlogs to put out and one which will be the new exhaust which tbh I'm not looking fwd to
@@goingwildagain Great.
Cool video. I have a red 01 with 40k miles. Love the over engineered Gear driven V4. They don't make them like this anymore. Had it 8 years now.
Absolutely it's a pleasure to ride . I think mines got 27000 on it.
Welcome back, oh what a feeling. Why do classic bikes make people so much happier?
This one's Amazing

The Best v4 s for the money

I love those in yellow, great bike 👍
Amazing bike

Intresting facts. I love vfr its amazing machine
My VFR800 is yellow with the year 2000 on it’s VIN, for what it’s worth.
Still got my yellow one with 17000miles (!) and its 23 years old this year. Lots of good equipment incl a high quality Maxton shock. No reason to sell at that milage. Poss unbreakable apart from r and r. Love the bike the sound the v and the open road. Best 23 year old bike ever.
I have a vfr750 97 model love it.
I've got a gen 5. I didn't want vtech, i wanted gear driven cams because that sound and reliability is outstanding
I feel its a good choice bulletproof engines just poor R and Rs
Nice video. I've just returned to 5th Gen ownership (for the 4th time). Another yellow peril just like the ones before and like the ones before, it'll be cleaned and fettled more than ridden. This one is definitely here to stay though, once and for all.
Great bikes do the maintenance keep on top they will do more mes than many newer machines and keep a good pace . Ghanx 4 watching
Nice colour bike!
It's a great bike. thanx

I use a givi tank bag large . The ring it connects to on the bike is BF03 on the 99 vfr. Great bike. New exhaust on mine next
Do you add the voice after the video? Sounds insanely clear if not
I use a go pro 7 with in helmet mic but when it's windy it gets very loud. So yes I remain from talking sometimes then do some voice overs yes.
Had one of these. Loved it! Now on a BMW K1300s which is like it but on STEROIDS!!
Never today a BM but the Fi800 is for me fast enough as long as they get from A to B with great style it's great
@@goingwildagain Yes plenty fast enough! i 1st had a gen 2 750, then the 800fi, and it was by far a better bike. Probably the best vfr ever made
Excellent video
Thanks I need to get out again on her
My 99 is red but if it wasn't yellow would have been my next choice
Both great bikes but you do know yellow is fastest lol
Where was this
I recorded this around Gisburn then Kilnsey Crag and Clitheroe Lancashire

I love the sound . It's possible one of gbd best engineered for its time. Have fun dude
Nice cozy video :) would you swap it for a 1100XX ? It's my dilemma these days . Thank you
Hi do you mean a Blackbird xx ? I have looked at them and like them but there is something about the vfr800fi that gives a great grin factor 😀 it's a amazing machine for its age.
@@goingwildagain exactly that V4 sound is iike no other , I think I'll keep it
The blackbird is a way better bike IMHO. Had two of them. One of the best bikes Honda ever made

Love the vfr it's most awesome for its year
Every VFR video be like i need some fuel , they are cool but they are really thirsty girl's .
Absolute good for the right hand. She never says no
I love the color of your bike. I have a 6 gen VFR. It's white with black accents in it. Not a fan.
I bought this because it has geared chams a 1999. The colour was a bonus. They are truly great bikes
I have a red and silver anniversary model
Nothing in the world sounds like an fi
Awesome engineering . The ease of ride is just amazing. I love my Metxler 01 on the bike. Best priced bike anyone could purchase.
They do what they are designed to do well but they are as dull as watching paint dry and a bugger to work on.
I feel they are very capable for its time over engineered bulletproof fuel injected with lovely linked brakes OK like or dislike they are capable machines for a 1999
