I was making some homemade organic weed killer yesterday. I have thistle in my garden. Also I have lambsquarter as well. I noticed the insects are eating the lambsquarter and not my vegetables. So I didn't spray the LQ. I've been gardening for 50 years and and I buy #7 dust. I wish I had know about it sooner.

Lamb's quarters, also known as Chenopodium album, is a highly nutritious plant. Here are some of its nutritional components:
    1. Vitamins: Lamb's quarters are a good source of various vitamins, including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate.
    2. Minerals: This plant is rich in minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.
    3. Protein: Lamb's quarters contain a notable amount of protein, which is relatively high for a leafy green vegetable.
    4. Fiber: It is a good source of dietary fiber, which is essential for healthy digestion and can help maintain bowel regularity.
    5. Antioxidants: Lamb's quarters contain antioxidants like beta-carotene, vitamin C, and flavonoids, which help protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation.
    6. Omega-3 fatty acids: It contains a small amount of omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health and inflammation reduction.

They are also “hydrophobic “, their leaves repel water. I am getting ready to harvest some and try them for the first time.😀

@@lilolmecj we have been eating them now for about 2 weeks. Typically I steam them with carrots or out them in a tofu scramble. I made a type of nugget with them today it was amazing. I was growing spinach in my garden and it didn't produce well but I have lambs quarter everywhere naturally so I am not stressing. Life is good! Enjoy. 🙂

@@LookAliveYoga I am going to try just pulling off the leaves and seed pods and stir fry them in butter, just serve them as a traditional “green”. My spinach and lettuce were pathetic this year, so I will sow some more mid to late August for a fall crop. Two years ago I planned to harvest Lsmbs Quarters but never quite got around to it, and last summer just didn’t have much show up. This year he bed I planted English peas in was literally overrun by yellow clover and LQ! I am just letting nature run its course. Thank you so much for your kid and helpful reply!!😸

Very little compared to other sources of oxalic acid. It has a fraction of what is in rhubarb.
