sleep token's music is the sonic representation of having the same dream every single night that involves a repeating cycle of meeting a love so deep you'd worship it until the end of time and the toxicity that comes with its lack of permanence and constant build up and tear down of your entire spectrum of emotion, night after night, with no control.
Now someone request TNDNBTG, at least pls. Haha. And yes, this is the last ST song from the trilogy of albums. Love that you get the hopeless and hopeful feeling even without hearing the full trilogy. I get the same feeling too 🖤
Euclid was the father of mathematics. Hp lovecraft used the term noneuclidian to describe architectures that can not be explained by human science , that defy physics. Euclidean being normal. In this instance ie eludes to things going back to normal
I'll never understand why people recommend Euclid to reactors who haven't gone through the whole journey. Euclid is basically the wrap up at the end of all three albums. You're not gonna get all of it unless you've gone through it. Fantastic reaction either way, my boys.
@@Nathdood same. My wife and I listened to tmbte together on launch day and we both got all misty eyed and we're laughing hysterically. Would not have happened if we hadn't been through the whole thing already.
This song is the last song in a trilogy of work, and marks the end of an era of pain and longing for Vessel. Your observation of it being hopeless and hopeful at the same time is an astute observation, especially without having explored the back story to the evolution of his song writing theme. What will the next era bring for us... Cant wait to find out. Edit: The collective are made up of generally unknown musicians from the UK, who have just put something huge together; and they all thoroughly deserve the success they're currently having.
They have the ability to make you feel as if the lyrics are so personal to their life while being open enough for them to feel so personal to our own lives as well. I've always said music🎶is🔮magic and now I say sleeptoken is magical🔮🎶music
Sure wish you guys would start from album one, song one. Their discography is chronological. Their last tour was also played chronologically. I found you guys when you were taking the Tool journey. This band is worth your time as well. Vessel is a musical savant, a poet and my favorite vocalist. The drummer, II, is as compelling as Danny Carey. Love y'all. The emotional impact of this song would have brought a tear if you have read the story from the beginning.
When you guys get through your reactions and end up getting a chance to listen to their work from the start to the finish, you're gonna be mind blown. They did something really cool with Euclid and all the throwbacks to everything they've done in the past. It'll all make sense in the end :)
Go down this rabbit hole. Start with the very first EP One then go to EP Two then theres some singles and then all 3 albums. Its a whole story from start to finish about Vessels failed and toxic relationship that he had that devestated him. Its truly beautiful! Then come back and listen to this song it will hit very different.
There are callbacks to a few songs in Euclid. I'd love for you to go through their music in order then come back to this song. So glad you are continuing your dive into Sleep Token. Loved your journey through Slipknot and Tool, too! Worship
First off, you're thinking of the token the wrong way. You aren't paying to sleep. A Sleep Token is inspiration given from the diety Sleep. She speaks through Vessel and every song is a "Token" of thought she has passed to further the story of Vessel's life. This song itself is the conclusion of all three albums and there are call backs to all three albums in the lyrics as well as a clip at the end from the song "The Night Does Not Belong To God" off of the Sundowning album. There are Easter eggs all through the song that are so clever that you catch yourself smiling at a song that is ultimately one of acceptance and reflection. It would have been better if you rabbit holed the collection to get all the call backs that I'm sure Smokey would have got. The way you do reactions though, you can't expect for the channel to go in order because fans have their favorite songs and they pay to have you jump through the catalog without getting context up to that point. It is what it is. At least you are covering it and coming close to some of the deeper meanings every so often.
I know you guys have done reactions to sleep token songs before, but as many people have said. This could be your opportunity to start from the beginning and go in order of the albums and really sink into this lore and story. Consider this your “TOOL” journey but with Sleep Token, promise it’s worth it
So sleep is the goddess vessel sees in his dreams and in especially take me back to Eden if you listen to it in order it will tell you a story and it is beautiful
Really should have done "The Night Does Not Belong to God" before this song. But since you haven't now you can just listen to it next and go through all 3 albums beginning to end. Then listen to this song again. The lyrics will make more sense if you do and it will hit you much differently. Much deeper after going through the whole journey. Worship
So everyone has their own interpretation... Sleep is the Goddess that Vessel encountered first in his dreams. He writes songs for her - tokens. he mostly speaks from his pov, but sometimes from hers. It's a story about the desperate love he has to get back to her and how it tears him apart. The relationship could never be, as she lives in a separate realm, it will remain unrequited. He becomes toxic as much as he sees her become toxic to him. Many of the songs are an expression of the love he has for one that "got away" but also about how it literally broke him as a person. Whether Sleep is a stand in for a real life love lost, or the true embodiment of a Deity that Vessel encountered is for one's own interpretation. To grasp the entire concept, you should listen to at least the three albums (Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and Take Me Bake To Eden), in order, from start to finish, as one basically picks up where the last left off. There are no filler songs, or empty moments. Vessel is very deliberate with each thing he does. For example, the very first line in this song is "Run it back give me five whole minutes." If you look at the time the music starts to when he says that line, the song is at the 5 minute mark. The song Take Me Back to Eden is the penultimate song on the album TMBTE, and many say it is the last song on that album. If you listen to the lyrics towards the end of that song, he echos the first lines sang on the first song (Chokehold) on TMBTE, . Parallelly, Euclid is technically the last song on TMBTE, but many call that song the last song of the entire trilogy. Euclid ends with the same lyrics he wrote on the first song on Sundowning, The Night Does Not Belong To God. Also, in The Night Does Not Belong To God, Vessel does not state who the night actually belongs to - in Euclid, he does. Euclid, the mathemetician is the father of Geometry - all things surrounding parallels, symmetry, pentagrams in the night sky, a two lane highway... and the parallels, symmetry and mysticism of the universe and fate contained in Vessel's lyrics and music. Sorry for the novel. This is just the tip of the iceberg for this band.
Whoever requested this song did you wrong on so many levels! You’ve been done a disservice. You really needed to listen to their first album to understand this song!! Great song but you guys are great at dissecting music. Missed out on a great opportunity. Oh well! Still a great react!
EUCLID 'things which are equal to the same thing are also equal to one another" So many things in this album and through the trilogy hint upon this theme. Especially the "teeth of God " quote on the album and in the summoning. Now, for real go listen to " TNDNBTG" from the 1st album. ❤ Worship!!
Smokey, if you like Vore, you really need to listen to Gods, additionally you will need to pull up the lyrics. It is so nasty and dirty. It's one of my favorite sleep token songs
Interesting Smokey said this is the last song. Its the last song on the Take Me Back To Eden album. Is the podcast finished now or will it be back next week? 2 weeks without it so I'm worried its done.
Great reaction, I love this song. But man do I wish you had done more of their catalog before you did Euclid to really get a better sense of the band and their music. Like "The Night Does Not Belong To God" to start. This would have hit so much harder for you and man does that make me sad for those who didn't know. But please do more of their music. it is incredible. Their music has saved my life.
Vessel says "Blacklit paradise" in Ascensionism. And "these ancient Canopies" in Euclid. Find the group "Blacklit Canopy". Watch and listen. The guy of the two in the group...I mean...I'll hush there.
They're very talented musicians, instruments and vocals are top notch. But something is just not clicking with me, can't explain it. 🎵 I can't put my finger on it 🎵
Listen from the first song of their first album all the way through to this last song on their third album and I'm pretty sure it will finally make sense.

You're not. They're not my cup of tea either. And I think it's cause the vocals are too pop and gospel and music is just not rocking enough. Too much piano and not enough good, memorable guitar riffs. But, to each its own I guess.
