With all the retro throwback games for n64 and nes and ps1, why hasn't anybody done some for PC-88 or pc-98???? Seriously, there's a hidden gold mine there just waiting to be discovered!
It's an early 80's computer that was pretty popular in Japan. The NEC PC98 came a few years after it and is 16 bit. Sharp and Fujitsu made similar computers with a bunch of games. Then there's all the MSX computer stuff

There is a smb special nes rom hack that simulates the pc-88 look but on nes so no janky screen scrolling. There is also a smb special hack that changes the layout properly but keep the appearance of smb so it feels like smb 1.5 or something.
@@thrilhous I enjoy that hack a lot. But the one that looks like regular smb but with the special version level layout. Not a fan of that sharp pc-88 graphics with the horrible scrolling and the dithering effects due to the graphics limitations in comparison to nes.

That Touhou game is 16-bit and came out in 1998, the rest were 8-bit games from 1986 running on a machine from 1981. I'm actually amazed that Mike didn't realize something was wrong there, it was like a TurboGrafx game mixed with a bunch of old Colecovision games.
Providence! Great Zelda style game with beautiful soundtrack. Valna is similar and made by the same company.. System Sacom. Got several more titles I like but those two really are decent.

You should have played Snatcher great game on the PC-88. It was also the first version of the game. You could stream a whole episode on that one game.
