Man, if it wasn’t for this video I would have never known a spacer was needed between that bearing and the brake plate!
Could never figure out why the wheel kept pretty much locking up when I went to tighten the axle nuts real snug.

I’d love to see you take a maxi roller and redo the whole bike from tank to toot with a rebuild, porting. Your bikes are so clean that it’s like working on ferraris compared to what most of us are working on. Like I have a maxi I just tore down to paint with everything in zip lock bags and it’d be really useful to know the things I should do compared to just slapping everything back together. What do I do to the magneto, cables, wiring block, hubs, clutch, ports. All that

been habving trouble with sealed bearings on these Griemca wheels im doing. this video has helped me man. I am having a issue where when i tighten the wheel down in the forks, the wheel is locking up. cant tell if the bearing or the brake pads are binding but i think i need a better and more proper spacer in the middle of the hub between the 2 bearings like you made in this video. anyways, thanks
First tighten it down without the brake plate in there but add some washers to take up the space if it doesn't bind up then the brake plate. if it does bind up then this probably the middle space are not being long enough

@@Corn-ped Yeah but I'm broke after all the shopping, lol. I keep an eye on what's for sale around here, though. The only proper moped I've seen in the last few months was a Vespa Ciao that was complete with extra parts and I still kick myself for not just buying it.

Need a freewheel tool! You can use a 4 prong bmx one if you Grind off two of the prongs.
Does there need to be a washer between the fork legs and the spacer? And does the brake plate need to align with the fork tab to hold it in place?
You do not need a washer on the inside of the fork leg but you should use won between the fork leg in the nuts. You do need to align the brake plate with the fork tabs to hold it in place. I'm using Forks that are too wide for this Hub so I'm going to build an adapter for the disc brake side to fit into the brake slot
I’m changing 3/4 wheel bearing and axle to 25mm but 25mm bearings are thinner, couldn’t I just make up wheel spacers to fit ?
absolutely! Make some spacers or use washers.

Yeah the pipe cutter is great. You. Still gotta do a little clean up, but ita better imo.

Its the same process but the bearings are a different size. Puch snowflake wheels use 16101 bearings. You can get them on Amazon or Treatland.tv

Hey, nice video! Do you know where i can get these 29mm bearings? They are mostly sold out when i look online. If not, can i use a 28mm with a shim or do you recommend sticking to loose ball bearings in my case?
Treatland sells them. Let them know I sent ya! otherwise yeah a 28mm with shim stock works fine.

Hey bud, I have found every thing else that I need to restore my Puch Maxi. I'm restoring this bike mechanically. Not polishing it to sell or make it a show piece. I just need to make it ready for the road this summer... This is the last mandatory service I need to do before I rebuild my entire engine in 2000 miles. I bought the bike with 2086 on the clock. Now bearing 2200 it's so damn fun. My question is I can go to my local HF Tools to buy all the tools I need to complete the job but where do you buy the metric pipe at or the equivalent for my wheel spacers? I wanna do this right and not screw it all up. I have an electric moped so I don't haft to rush. Also, do you recommend straight cut gears for the E50 at all? I am more focusing on hill climbing and more performance for the future. So if you could get back to me on my pipe question I would appreciate that a lot. Thanks-W.
take your 12mm axle to the hardware store and stick it in the plumbing pipes until ya find on that fits. Or go to a metal supply store for a more accurate tube.

@@Corn-ped Hey, I bought the sealed bearing conversion kit from treatland. My question is. On the brake plate when you slide the brake down on to the drum. On the old shaft there is a nut there and that is used to hold the brake plate down to the drum. That"s with using the 11MM threaded axle. The threaded axle was for the crappy loose bearings. I saved all my hardware to the bike. I''m just trying to figure out how to keep the brake plate secure on the drum with out sliding off. This is my first moped ever. I'm trying to look for the best info I can find and convert it the easiest way possible but make it safe and reliable. As my health goes down hill from here. I don't feel like taking the rims off every season to re pack it. I would rather cut the head off the snake now and end the issues. Thanks for your time and have a good night and a Merry Christmas.
Anyone know size of that pipe? I'm guessing it's 1/2 inch inner diameter, which would be about 12.7mm ID ?

Hey I just converted my rear wheel to sealed bearings and wonderd what would happen if you didnt use a spacer in between the bearings because a loose ball bearing axle doesnt have a spacer either.
You need the spacer in the middle. Otherwise when you tighten the axle it will squeeze the bearings inward and ruin them, and your wheel won't turn smoothly.

Amazon in Europe has a ton of puch stuff I think you can actually buy the bearing cups if you didnt want to do sealed bearings but Amazon definitely has the 6001r2 sealed bearings

I think it was half in and I used a dremel to smooth out an inner seam.

Yeah totally. Just put a spacer between it and the hub.

Ahhh yeah. Well then you would have to get creative. You could switch to a spoke hub gear and notch the hub.
