Crochet Lunar Top Pattern | EASY | The Crochet Crowd

- The Crochet Lunar Top is a really easy level, in fact, it could be a beginner level that really is ambitious.
The top is made up of 4 lace looking granny squares that are strategically whip stitched together. It is suggesting to use Red Heart It's A Wrap Rainbow. I used Sprinkles in the tutorial.
The only stitch in this pattern that may throw a beginner or easy level crocheter is the top edging as it uses double link crochet. Using this yarn for this stitch is a bit challenging. In fact, though I taught using D-Link, I truly did the top edging in half double crochet.

hey there, I am using a different yarn than this and it is bunching in the middle. I am a newbie, and the middle is looking perfect, but as I go it is bunching together. Any clue what I am doing wrong? Lol. Thanks in advance for your help.
@@TheRealCantaraBella Just do a gauge check to be sure the gauge is working.
Im a beginner and only 16 years old. Been crocheting for about a year now. Very simple projects. I decided to take on this project to make for my grandma for Christmas. And 5 months later I have finished it and have never been more proud of myself for doing so. Thanks for the amazing instructional video to help me out.
Just started a few days ago. Working up my 3rd square. Excited for the finished project! Also, found so many great potential projects through your site. Thank you!
This is just up my alley!!! Thank you!
Thank you very much Mikey for this pattern, I just finished one for my niece and it looks lovely on her

I love it 😀 Thank you so much for that tutorial ❤
I'm differently going to make this for sure. Thank you
I love this tunic. I am working on it now. I am using crushed velvet yarn. I had extra crushed velvet yarn left over from when I made a hairpin lace shawl.
I'm definitely going to make this for myself!
Very pretty!
I usually only crochet really easy things like cloths of cup sleeves, but I think I’m gonna give this a go to take a step up
Muy bonito y sencillo, gracias 💜
I’m gonna try making this!
Hi again, l messed up last time it turned out too big, but l changed the yarn. I’m using the kind that’s like rope & it’s finally turning out nice! Thanks again! A guy having crochet video’s is cool !!
So so so beautiful
Been saving this tutorial for a while now. It's my next project 👍 Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
FABULOUS TOP!!! Just finished it. Thank you for a great tutorial, really easy to follow. I made mine in all one colour with Scheepjes Whirlette in Chewy (I live in England). Wool was v. cheap and I only needed x 2 balls. I am a UK 16 and 5'6". This top is so flattering as it hides my tummy!. It looks GREAT with jeans and a vest top (tank in US?). Really floaty and flowy over "problem" area! I ended up doing 15 rounds for each square (I crochet loose). I also did the armholes bigger than the gap for the neck and back... makes the top flow even better. Thank you so much, Mikey x
Thank you for handy hint. I have just made this and left out straps? Just joined the tops together... works v. well x
Gracias por compartir el paso a paso!!
Thank you so much for doing this project. I had done the squares and didn't quite understand on how to finish it. It came out quite lovely thank you so very much! I will be watching more of your projects.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice 👍
Thank you
You're welcome.
Ok I’m attempting to make this for my grandmas birthday... wish me luck 🤞
I just started working on this first time but I buy these on ebay lol I have a few so I thought maybe I can make myself one.
Gracias por compartir, pero me encantaría que pusieras subtitulos en español, me cuesta mucho seguirte, me gusto mucho tus trabajos, son muy prolijos, cariños desde Chile 😘😊
😍
Looks almost like the Kanata Kerchief Tank

This is a beautiful top I'd like to attempt. I'm a beginner. What size yarn are you using?
Hey Mikey, first off all i love the pattern, but i m real confused about the gauge mesurements, after 2 rounds i m right on track but after 5 rounds i m confused on how to mesure it, is it 4 inches halfway?
Dear Mikie, I want to make a "net" for my Grandchildren stuff animals, and I want to use the best pattern for it. Do you have a tutorial that can help me with the stitches? Thank you in advance!
I just wondered how much yarn you used for this project? Thanks again
Love your tutorials!!! Is this yarn a 4 ply? Am not in USA so trying to find similar match.
No this is really small yarn. Details are in the free pattern that is linked in the video description if you are more curious. Content: 55% acrylic, 45% cotton
Ball size: 150 g/5.29 oz, 570 meters/623 yards
Care: Machine wash, lay flat to dry
Gauge: 2 - Fine (Sport)
Hi Mikey can you make a turorial on Flower Child Circle Tank
Hi so if using it’s a wrap yarn 🧶 how u match the colors so the squares and shirt is unified with same colors .. would the shirt look funny and weird if we didn’t do that and just let the the yarn colors in cakes just continue to go without trying to match the color squares so they match up? Like with any ombré yarn just keep working from the cake no matter what colors are starting off with? Do u know what I mean ? Lol 😂 I hope so 😋
I had the worst time with the link stitch lol I was cursing at it but I got it finally lol but still wondering how this all comes together
Thank you for this tutorial, I'm a new yarnie and have a question. What exactly is meant by your note about guage, 5 pattern repeats = 4". I apologize if my question is obvious, I am self taught and follow tutorials to learn how to crochet and I'm still learning how to read patterns.
That's a great question. I am trying to make sense of it but I am not 100% sure. You should email Yarnspirations through their website for Customer Service and they should be able to assist with a solid answer. I don't have a guess as I am not sure but they would know the answer for sure.
Mikey I'm hoping this isn't a big ask. I can't get Red Heart delivered to the country I'm now living in and had to buy a 100% 4ply cotton yarn so I'm floundering. Please, it would be appreciated if you would tell me the measurements of your square for the mediums size on your tutoria so I can adjust accordingly. Many thanks.
How much yardage did you used?
🍃❤️😍👍🏻😍❤️
Hi, l love ur videos!! I tried this pattern because l love the top, only l did the amt of rounds and it turned out to be huge! What l ended up doing is using 2 of the squares and made a top out of them & took out the other 2. Don’t understand why it happened!! So, lm going to buy a smaller yarn thickness & really flimsy also. Maybe it was the yarn l used. I really want to make one because l love it. Thank you so much for showing us with your patience!
When you did a gauge swatch, was it right?
@@TheCrochetCrowd yes
I watched & wrote each thing u did but, mine ended up super big!!
@@bettyjoanderson1980 I'm really sorry that happened to you.
@@TheCrochetCrowd don’t understand it but, lm gonna try another. Like l said l still got a top out of it… l used 2of the squares and put it together, crocheted flowers on the front and it’s a cute granny square top now!😀
I got my yarn ready to go it’s a size 2 weight thin yarn. I have never used this thin how did you do it? Is there a tutorial on how to start? ???
Never mind , I googled it! Can’t wait to start!
The pattern says nothing about doubling the yarn, but it obviously is. Would a dk weight be approximately the same as 2 strands of this?
Hi! the yarn is not doubled. It is a 4 ply yarn on a 5mm hook so that the top flows really nicely. If you substituted with a dk on same size hook, you would end up with a stiff and odd looking top.
Does anyone know if the measurements of each square for the straight edge or diagonal corner to corner?
I don't know that information. You could email Yarnspirations to see if they still have the sample to take a measurement.
Porque não bota legenda que nos do Brasil intenda melhor um pouco
Is the pattern calling for 2 balls? When I read it its has (2,2,3,3,4), I am confused, any help would be appreciated!
Depends on the size you are doing. (S, M, L, XL, 2 XL) That's what the brackets are telling you.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Thank you!! I am just starting to read written patterns. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy.
I’m confused about the yarn. It almost looks like a snuffle bean yarn. (I think that’s the brand). Can u please clarify the brand for me?
Hi Tammy. You just need to use any 4 ply yarn (UK - not sure what this is in US?). Ideally a soft and flowy cotton blend.
I dont understand how you attach the other 2 panels tou skipped over that or I missed it. Someone please help
You will just whip stitch it together.
Ehrlich, ich weiß nicht, was Omaquadrate sind. Ich finde eine Größenangabe in cm wäre einfacher.
Can anyone recommend a similar yarn? I am having trouble finding it's a wrap online, thanks
Angie A * Hello, I am using LIONBRAND, MANDALA, WOOL BLEND. I am truly liking the results so far. Although he stated that the yarn used in the demo was a #2, and the MANDALA WOOL BLEND is a #3, it is VERY light weight, and gives this pattern the proper drape. You can get three cakes, all same color variation, from Walmart online, at a wonderful price of $10.99, (or somewhere in that range). I remember buying 3 packages, and one was $12.99, for the pack of 3. They are the larger size cakes too. 5.3 oz/150g/590yd/540m. I used what I had on hand during this quarantine. Hope this helps. Happy Crocheting!
Thanks for letting me know. Google Translate is responsible for the translation as we only write the English script.
You can imagine how it feels when you're looking for the ENGLISH subtitles on a Spanish video!!!! Google has gotten better but about a year or two ago it was horrific!!!!
