NO, This would not have not gone out a tea-time, AS this is the TVS area it would have went out at 3.30pm along with Thames, TSW, Scottish, Grampian, Anglia :P it never got its nice 5.15 slot in TVS land until the second series :P
@steeviebops Yes that's right another sound effect Blockbusters used from Family Fortunes was the ding sound when a correct answer is on the board. Both Blockbusters and Family Fortunes both moved from Elstree to Nottingham from 1984 until 1993 and 2002 respectively.
@lfclfclfclfclfc5 after-school clubs! Of which the kind of child who likes Astronomy would most certainly attend! (Only swots went to after-school clubs!)
Absolutely riveting!
Brilliant gameshow, reminds me of my childhood.
That gold run was close.
what point of winning a telescope for school when can only use a night ?
Well, there's winter. Also, maybe it's a boarding school.
love the way Chris saved himself for the winning question...

Just watched this and I love the fact they won a telescope for the school which is used at night looool
The first Columbia landed in the sea in 1969 (not 1980) and the second landed on a runway in 1981, so no wonder they didn't get it!
I think those are the shortest end credits I've ever seen!
the time up signal heard at 0:50 sounds a bit like the duplication sound on Family Fortunes' Big Money round.
You are right. That may have something to do with both programmes being made by Central Television.
RIP Bob Holness !
5:41 - "B... you devil..."
Hahaha "Can I have a H please Bob?".
6th October 1983

@cymrutroll Bob was 55 years old when he hosted the very first series of Blockbusters.
I'm kinda disappointed that the game didn't reach a dual implication, but it sure was close.

There are no state boarding schools? (I really have no insight into this issue, seeing as how I'm not British)
Ow.
Wow, Simon was such a bellend. Haha.
