Thalassemia (Hindi) | By Dr. Mukesh Gupta

Thalassemia is a blood disorder that is usually passed down through families ( Inherited). In Thalassemia the body produces an abnormal type of hemoglobin which is formed by different kind of cell chains than the usual format.
Thalassemia Minor is just a trait that the person may carry without it interfering with the usual routine and well being of that person. But if a Thalassemia Minor has a partner who is also Thalassemia Minor then there are chances of their baby to be affected. There are 25% chances that this child could be a Thalassemia Major ( which is a disease), 50% chance that the child might also be a Thalassemia Minor ( which is not really a concern) and 25% chances are that the child would be absolutely Normal.
Thalassemia can be detected by a simple normal blood test. It is advisable to take this blood test while deciding your partner , if not then, alteast have the test done while pregnancy to avoid any

I have my 8 years old son totally normal and when my daughter was born we came to know that she is a the l’assuma major patient and me and my husband both are thelasemia minor carriers that was a shock for our all of us and now she is 4 years old treatment is so hard for her she can’t live without me even 1 minute.
I request you all to please do a test and know either u have themlasemia minor or not 🙏🙏

Anyone who calls beta thalassemia minor a "trait" should not be listened to any further. I have it. In early life I experienced really poor vision, pale skin, short stature, sensetivity to heat, introversion, lack of stamina and quick reflexes to participate in sports. Later in life with work, I noticed exaggerated jaw and shoulder bones and fatigue. Past middle age, I experience sensetivity to cold too, difficulty sitting and standing due to weak knees.
