Something I've seen nobody else mention/seem to notice is that the Maliketh Elden Ring actually features the rune of death, right at the bottom. It's small, but the shape matches the rune of death perfectly and is clearly distinct from the root shapes.

    • @christiandannielmacieldeli8517
      @christiandannielmacieldeli8517 Місяць тому +7

I'm sorry but the Rune of Death is very clearly part of the Elden Ring from the title screen. It's the Arc and middle line on the top of it. The same arc that is holding Marika prisoner before we enter the Erdtree.
The bottom one is the source of the Rune Arcs we use to activate the Runes we take from the demigods.
The Rune of Death literally has the shape of crucified Marika. The same shape those summoning stakes have, as well as those posts where crucified people scream at night

    • @nebky
      @nebky Місяць тому +14

@@christiandannielmacieldeli8517 Nah, that's the Golden Order/pre-shattering formation of the Elden Ring, which is after the rune of death was removed. The golden order was established by the rune of death's removal, so would make no sense for it to still feature in the Elden Ring and it would have to feature in the Maliketh's arena one due to its age.
Also, Marika's scarseal depicts that top rune and states:
"engraved with an Elden Rune, said to be the seal of Queen Marika."
No mention of death and Implies that it's her great rune, one that we do not get access to in the game.
And finally, the rune of death's arcs point slightly downwards, not up. To me it seems that Marika's rune is the rune of life, hence its opposite position and inversion to the rune of death.

I thought the statue was depicting Miquella since before giving us the three wolf summon Ranni says; These were from Torrent's former master. And we can see a figure that's likely to be Miquella riding on a Torrent from the very first promotional image of dlc.

@@Cobalt4 there is currently no hard evidence to tie Miquella to the Night of Black Knifes, though what I believe is that Miquella assisted Ranni in her plan by stealing the Fragment of Destined Death for her. We learn from multiple Items that Miquellas skillset involved Sleep and Manipulation, very useful abilities if you wanted to steal a fragment of the Rune of death from Maliketh, and we also aren't given any explanation on How Ranni managed to steal it, all we ever got from her was that she proclaimed herself to have stolen Death. Nothing more. There is also the connection to the Black Knifes, from Tiche's spirit ashes we learn that the Assassins of the Black Knifes fled the City of Leyndell after the deed Was done, and from the Locations of the remaining Black knifes I assume that the group scattered and went into hiding in various places, caves and catacombs for the most part, and we also see the leader of the group imprisoned in an Evergloam and multiple dead Black knifes after the conclusion of Rannis quest when they attack Blaidd and Iji, which lead me to believe that Ranni betrayed the group after they finished the job and they sought revenge, though there are 3 Black Knifes in Ordina aswell and I think there is only 2 possible reasons, either to seek refuge in the City or the Haligtree OR to get into the Haligtree to kill Miquella. If they are seeking refuge in the City or even guard the Entrance to the Haligtree it would have to be with Miquella allowing them, and if they wanted to kill Miquella because he abandoned the group aswell after they fled from Leyndell then it would still indicate his involvement. Even if they were staying in Ordina without specifically guarding it, it would be odd that they would be tolerated, given they killed Godwyn.
There is also the circumstance under which we meet Ranni for the first time. She just appeared, for "no reason" to confirm that we are the Tarnished that has Torrent, gives us the Spirit summoning bell and the Wolf ashes, that belonged to Torrents Former Master, which we know to be Miquella, and leaves. She wasn't there for us, she doesn't try to recruit us into her Service, nothing but "hey, take this if you have Torrent" and left.

I feel like the problem of people trying to place a character to that statue whether it’s Miquella, Ranni or Marika that I feel like is forgotten is that Farum Azula was destroyed WAY before Marika’s rule, and before Miquella’s and Ranni’s births (This isn’t up for debate we has definitive timeline placements for all of these). It can be any character we know of.
It wouldn’t also be the Gloam Eyed Queen given the context that she was an Empryean by the two fingers, who active in the time around Marika, either as related to Marika as sibling or daughter of some kind. All of these characters wouldn’t be that statue because Farum, once again, has been destroyed long before the Erdtree.

As for the person surrounded by wolves, I just can't fathom any statues other than Marika being in a place like this, especially with her shadow as the boss of the arena. I feel like it may have been several wolves being considered for her shadow since she was already destined to become the new God, and Maliketh was the one eventually chosen.

    Ok wild theory here:
First keep in mind that the key players in ER have great virtues with a tragic flaw.
Anyways the root of all is Marika and I will state here that Marika is/used to be the Gloam-eyed Queen.
In order to bring the Age of the Erdtree, she sealed the giant's flame along with destined death. DD is the power of the GQ.
We have Melina, the kindling maiden, that transports you where DD is while she burns the Erdtree. Melina comes from Marika and she is literally what we need in order to bring a new age if we don't go for the Lord of Chaos route, which leads to Melina to manifest as a new form for the GQ
Here is the speculation from a parallel. Millicent is Malenia's Pride that she left behind in order to match Radahn.
Melina is the GQ's aspect sealed from Marika in order to bring the Age of the Erdtree.
What else do we know from the GQ?
She was the mother of the Godskin apostles, she even cradles them, no wonder they go to sleep fairly easy.
Who is interested in motherhood and births? Melina, the character we wished we knew more about, and Marika kinda sucks as a mother later on with her sacrifices speech.
That statue is proto Marika like the Elden Ring above her.

I don't think that the representation of Farum Azula's elden ring has more runes than the current one, if you look carefully, none of the outermost runes complete a full circle, they shine less than the central runes (as is clearer in the conceptual art) and you may even notice that the lines of some of the runes turn into roots, I believe that these extra runes are nothing more than the "root rune" imitating the shape of other great runes, I think that only the runes in the center of the ring are true runes, I think this root rune is the equivalent of the Radagon rune that perhaps has been reforged or replaced by the Radagon rune

I have reason to believe that the Land of Shadow (Marika’s hidden shadow of the Lands Between) is where The Gloam Eyed Queen was sent to after being “defeated”, just as many concepts such as the Blasphemous symbols of the Snake, and the Crucible.
It is for this reason why I wont go into to too much detail until the DLC, but I believe that statue represents The Gloam Eyed Queen (whom I believe to be Marika before becoming a god and splitting her personality, as a prototype for her Radagon situation). A God who was the ruler, or representative, of the previous age… until, of course, Queen Marika decided to change that order
I also DON’T think it’s placidusax’ god. The “fled god” situation seems like a very Miyazaki thing to do to keep it left ambiguous. Similar to how he left Gwyn’s firstborn ambiguous until they decided to do Dark Souls 3

Maybe the Nox/Numen used to live in Farum Azula but was driven to underground after it was destroyed? Farum Azula and Eternal City does have some similar architecture. Or that the people from Farum Azula foreseen the future of an Empyrean child and build a statue of her. And maybe Queen Marika took that form and MIMIC that child and put herself as the next Empyrean. Seems possible they mimic Farum Azula for some reason.

Placidusax was the consort of a goddess, I believe this goddess came from the ancient dynasty as the cleyman bubble incantations talk about them searching for lost oracles, oracles herald the arrival of a new god or age and I believe the case for the ancient dynasty was a god that placidusax became consort, I speculate that Marika could be the daughter of both as all the Empyreans we know seem to be descended from a god and Marika would be the same, this would explain why a statue representing Marika I would be in Farum Azula

Because Elden Ring's "prophecies" seem to just be orders given by Marika, and the time travel only goes back to when Placidusax's arena was still intact, I believe that the statue isn't depicting Ranni, Malenia, or Miquella. While we never see the Gloam-Eyed Queen, if we estimate her appearance and garb based on her followers, the girl doesn't seem to be a match for that either, and she has little in common with Melina too. While the girl looks like she has the most in common with Marika, their styles of dress and the decorations on each don't really match, and the girl's hair flowers are not akin to anything Marika has worn.
Thus, I believe that the statue depicts Placidusax's god, and hopefully at a time long before she was ever married to him, though the fact that what seems to be the city's central shrine depicts her near the Elden Ring at that age is worrying. I agree that the wolves seem to be terrorizing her, with one feeling pretty comfortable that she's in peril, so it looks like this Empyrean wasn't happy to be made a god, and Farum Azula potentially used intimidation as a major factor in making Empyreans take the Elden Ring and stay in line.
If so, then perhaps Placidusax's god fled not from a calamity, but to escape being a god. Granted, I feel the state of Farum Azula implies it did face an ancient cataclysm, but Placidusax's god may have fled for multiple reasons.
It seems that Placidusax's god abandoned the Elden Ring at some point, and perhaps even separated it into its individual Great Runes. That would explain how Marika could seemingly have some Great Runes while the Gloam-Eyed Queen wielded the Rune of Death until Maliketh defeated her. Perhaps this may have inspired Marika to seemingly distribute shards of the Great Runes upon shattering the Elden Ring, as though that would best create a ferocious war and a mighty victor.
As for the Elden Ring in the mural, the arrangement of the four rings curiously matches the pattern seen on the road tiles throughout the Lands Between. While the Rune Arcs seem to be mostly absent, that wouldn't be the first depiction of the Elden Ring that didn't display them, so this could be another artistic liberty. As for the various roots, I believe that this might actually be a depiction of an extremely young Erdtree that's still just sprouting from its seed. The extensive root network might be underway and thus given the most influence, particularly if Farum Azula hasn't found the sapling yet or the Erdtree was uniquely designed by the Greater Will to grow all of its roots first.
If that is the root system of the Erdtree, then the Farum Azula mural might depict the earliest origin of the Lands Between's recurring "Elden Ring within the Erdtree" motif.
    Thanks for the video, Ziostorm!

I'm a little hazy on the ER timeline, but I get the impression that anything in Farum Azula predates Marika and the Erdtree. The figure in the statue is almost certainly someone we aren't familiar with, unless it's somehow a later addition.

I believe the symbol above the statue in Farum Azula just to be the Elden Ring before The Shattering. it is missing pieces now because so many Demigods have perished. One important thing to notice is the one thing that the new Elden Ring has that the older depiction does not is the sign or Radagon's influence (The crosshatch design, that is his symbol.)
If you dive into Norse mythology it will explain a lot.
This symbol is known as the Web of Wyrd in Norse mythology. The underlying concept of reality is the web which holds everything together in all dimensions including time. I believe this is how Radagon/Marika attempted to keep the world held together while still being able to remove the Rune of Death.
The Erdtree is similar to Yggdrasil of Norse Mythology, in which the tree acts as a time loop of sorts, people die become part of the tree the leaves fall and become their story and the process repeats.
I think that the Realm of Shadow is the land of the dead, and the replacement we will see there for sights of grace is "The Lamplight" that is described in the lore of Helphen's Steeple.

I have the feeling that this statue shows the first god, the one that fled. It would be a great chance for an Elden Ring 2 game. I would love to find out what happened in the Lands Between in the time of the Crucible.

So is nobody gonna talk about how the "girl" in the statue has three wolves, and its believed that Miquella(who appears feminine) was torrents former master. Ranni gives us three wolves to summon due to our connection to Torrent, implying some significance.

My thoughts: The Elden Ring in Farum Azula is that of the age of The Crucible, with a different presentation of a few runes. Which ones? Well, the top rune is different, for one, as is Radagon's.
That statue is not that of a young girl, it's of a young Radagon. Radagon is strongly associated with the Crucible. Radagon is also associated with the giant wolves. He is a hero of a bygone age, and I suspect only allied to Marika by virtue of her being chosen to lead by the triumphant Golden Order.
His rune has changed in the current iteration of the Elden Ring, but it holds the same significance; it is the roots, it is the weave upon which the other runes find their place in the current order. Marika's age was one of ordered life, not the crucible and unordered life. Radagon was not happy in Marika's order, but a loyal servant of it nevertheless.

Not sure if this is later in the video, but we have another empryean wolf. The Red Wolf of Radagon. Cuz Radagon is Marika. The Red Hair of the wolf could be a connected point between the giants wnd Marika starting her reign by warring against the giants.

My guess is tied up with some other theories: that it’s a young Melina, who is also the gloam eyed queen and, probably more controversially, is also the Snow Witch who taught Ranni.
To back up the snow witch part: we know that Ranni’s doll is made up to look like the Snow Witch and, color aside, it bears a pretty strong resemblance to Melina. It also has a glowing right eye, matching the apparent “Gloam” eye we see on Melina in the flame of frenzy ending. We do also find the Godskin duo in Farum Azula, within visual distance of the building containing that relief. There’s also the fact that the Gloam eyed Queen seemed to be an empyrean of death until she was defeated by Maliketh, and that Ranni, the Snow Witch’s protege went on to steal part of it from him.

The thing is her *soul* also has closed eye.
Closed eye might be just something permanent left by the ritual she performed to separate herself from the previous body, and thus no matter what vessel she chooses she will always have one of her eyes permanently closed.

Personally I think it's prophetic instead of the old elden ring. Since ranni was originally meant to be marikas successor I believe it's just the prophecy of Rannis assension. But just how prophecies don't usually work out the way they're perceived. She became a goddess/queen very differently than planned but it almost ensured her assension regardless.

What if every generation of demigods has a set of 3 empyreans? With the only other set we would know of being Marika’s generation. Then the god that fled would be her mother, GEQ being her sister, and Plac being not their father but their lord with an unnamed humanoid being the first lord. It would draw a ton of parallels between Marika’s reign and her potential mother’s. The praying empyrean wouldn’t be anyone in particular but a symbol of a new god rising from the war of the 3 “wolves” (meaning other empyreans and their shadows)
Marika’s spiritual duality would be the anomaly in the cycle. She simultaneously sired 3 empyreans while also never doing so as both Marika and with a being that wasn’t herself.

I believe the Elden Ring we see in Azula is representing the outer gods and the golden order once unified
The story is about how the golden order has been trying to rid of its offspring (the outer gods) through the Demi gods who are the vessels of those outer gods

I will give my 5 cents here. This is just an opinion and has no factual base, just pure speculation based on the lore we already know.
"Maliketh is the loyal Shadowbound Beast and half-brother of Queen Marika the Eternal" (took from fandom page). Almost the same as Blaidd for Ranni.
The statue, based on its physical detais, can also relate to Miquella, based in other statues found in halightree and also as we suspect in the dlc poster.
However, since maliketh was loyal to Marika and he was placed right in front of this statue, I think it is Marika herself.

    *Divine Towers*,
Really believe it's been a huge hint to the DLC since day one.
The Erdtree is all shadowed/blocked out at each divine tower. Gives off the impression that something is over top of it. Always assumed it was some graphical error but now I believe the look of the Erdtree at the Towers is intentional.
But it seems that the Land of Shadows and the giant veils were visually written into the lore since release.
I apologize if there is a different but similar comment from me. I don't see that it saved.

Just so you know, i've made i discovered on Morgott Great tower near the main city were not only this tower is guard by 2 omens + dropping the ash of war of the omen's hunter. But the tower in itself is full of snakes motives + double helix. Does this tower is related to DLC with mesmer or crucible aspect in any way ? In the same way you can get what i think is Melina's daggers really near place with interesting item description. I now think that Mesmer, Melina, Omens are all related one way or another.
