I too am an advocate of off-leash work, however, if you know your session will include "fetch" work I'd take that 6tf lead off of him to avoid an injury while running at full speed. (you look like you trust his overall behavior so why take the chance).
You need to make a whole body harness we could set weights around the dog at certain areas that wouldn't put strain on their skeletal system. Just add 5-10lb, 1- 2lbs on side of each leg and 1-2lb around the neck for a light weight training during a walk or treadmill. Or even running around the house if you make a comfortable body harness.

Here’s some work out cheats. If your dog responds to lasers they have automatic lasers they sell online for cheap. I have one that runs routes for 15 minutes at a time. (I never use this inside) set up somewhere high in your backyard and angle it as needed. During the day time I’ll use a mirror. This works well because they do full on sprints chasing this. I take my dog running, but he’s too fast for me to challenge him on sprints. Only a mile and a half run in about 8-10 minutes to not kill my gains and theirs. They will get sore just like us. I can see it in their body language. Don’t push them too hard.

Like when to give it to him. i.e first meal? 2nd meal? Last meal? (which is 5-6pm) I exercise him quite a bit. Buy whey protein isolate non flavoured instead, ingredient should be whey protein and nothing else. Its basically what gorilla max is but they bump up the price. whey protein has proven to be very good for immune system and its thermogenic, which means it can help burn fat.

I only leave it on because animal control is around often in my neighborhood. They give a good size ticket if the leash is not on unfortunately.
Top Bullies try wrapping or tying the leash so it doesnt flop around but its still on the dog
