Says he left Skid Marks: Affidavit offers new details in crash An arrest affidavit for Cruz-Mendoza was released on Thursday. The affidavit stated that investigators saw skid marks from the semitruck, including some “skip skids as the driver was on the brakes.” The affidavit said this showed the driver had at least partially functional brakes. Additionally, the affidavit stated that the tire marks began to become solid as the semi traveled into the northbound lane and then began to travel back toward the southbound lane. The marks were visible throughout the crash scene, from the first car struck to where the semi came to rest, according to the affidavit. The affidavit also said that multiple people were transported from two of the five vehicles swiped by the semi, and that the sole occupant of one vehicle was found dead inside his car. One of the drivers whose vehicle was struck by the semitruck estimated the 18-wheeler was going “60-80 mph as it passed,” according to the affidavit.
Can you please send me an email as to where you got this information. finchresources@gmail.com. If not, I will find it. I dont think that the general public understand that if there was skid marks then the brakes were working and if the skid marks were broken it means that the ABS system was working, and the problem was speed by a POS non-citizen. Anyway...I get so pissed!! I love what you found please email me either way. I will send you my phone number. I am just so pissed about this continuing to happen!!

If you ride the Brakes downhill they will get so hot that they no longer work. Why does everyone not understand the Obvious. I read the News said he was driving 60 to 80 MPH and when he tired to stop he left skid Marks. The article also said his rear 5th wheel brakes were worn beyond the allowable depth. Obviously the Reporter knew nothing about truck brakes.
Did you hear the FMCSA recently changed the rules on speaking English. Now, it's not a requirement any longer. Now, the rules state that a person only has to have the ability to communicate with an officer, not speak English. Really?? Well what FMCSA is saying is since everyone now carries cell phones with translation apps, that will be considered adequate for the regulations. Seriously! I didn't just make this up. Safety is no longer needed. If we had a trucking flag, I'd be flying that upside down in distress!
Seen a bus break down, only to see him go to jail because of no cdl licence. Shame to see trucking gone down hill so fast. My dad and his 7: brothers drive. So owned they're truck. But how trashy it has gotten. Real truckers don't were flip flops.
This won’t happen as long as we drivers get treated like Sh*t by LEO in several states, by the DOT in many states, by the whole state of CA, by customers who are allowed to retain drivers at docks for 2-20 HOURS in docks with no pay.
I mean..... during my 2 years I've learned when the brakes get hot they can stop working all together especially if the brake drums are worn even if brake pads are within legal spec. I learned this the hard way as once going through country roads up north somewhere I saw a stop sign too late as I was busy/distracted by gps. When I saw the stop sign I slammed on the brakes cause I wasn't sure if they'd be any cross traffic or not. The truck slowed down but as the brakes got hot I completely lost stopping power as the brakes were just too hot to work. Luckily for me I wasn't going down hill and there wasn't any cross traffic but a similar story crossed my mind which ended in tragic loss of another 4wheeler. Afterwards I got to learn when the brakes were getting too hot and this knowing helped me a great deal in knowing if I'd be able to stop in time via I knew if I needed to dip into the emergency lane or I automatically knew if I could stop in time or not so I could take appropriate measures to avoid an accident during random immediate stop events close up ahead. If the brake drums are in excellent condition along with the rest of the braking system/parts then trucks can stop allot faster but when given a truck with more than 500k+ miles usually stopping power can be drastically reduced as allot of companies don't replace certain braking components till they fall way out of legal spec. When I was a newer driver I argued back and forth trying to get assigned equipment braking parts fixed because a couple of the assigned trucks were just too hard to stop especially when I was just about a month in. Some companies don't seem to care if a new driver wrecks or not and it was no surprise to me I've seen so many wrecked trucks at their terminals. Whenever I'm given a truck if it doesn't stop right then I don't drive it even when I'm told it's okay to drive if it doesn't seem safe then I don't drive it or I'm only willing to drive it to a shop to get fixed. I prioritize safety over everything else and I'm even willing to violate my clock some to get a load delivered via valuing customer satisfaction but I will never drive a truck that's not safe or has braking issues. A trucker with no CDL/fake trucker wanna be give them a truck and there's inevitable consequences. Someone without an actual CDL has a much higher chance of loosing brakes as they can easily lack the knowledge of "WHEN YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN AHEAD OF TIME". Based on any truck's current ever changing braking limitations which is based on slop angle/hills, weight, brake parts conditions, and so on stopping power varies from day to day and it takes real experience to learn how to rapidly adjust to virtually anything. Even the smallest miss calculation on current "minimum stopping distances" is literally a huge different in having a good or normal day to having a career coming to a crashing halt.
I 100% agree if you're coming into this Great Country of Ours and going to work or even making it your new home. Just like many of Our ancestors when they came over to start a new life, the actually worked hard to learn to speak English, and still kept their own, but learned to easily communicate with others. Learning and respecting that all had their own beliefs & customs did not force Us to make so many changes to accommodate them.

They need stricter rules on who gets a license, English speaking and actual knowledge of the truck, these schools are just throwing people out on the road, then companies hire them and put them in a truck with an "experienced trainer"who doesn't really care if they learn or not. His blood is on fmcsa's hands.
I got out of trucking 9 years ago and it was bad then, some of the things i saw was just horrifying, like stuffing 3 or 4 illegals in a truck that didn't have Twic cards, CDLs or even any US drivers license through the North Charleston Terminal and drive out trucks someone else drove in. Getting put on grape fruit dedicated runs out of Vera beach because all 3 trucking companies was found to have no CDL drivers and most was from russia and india. Got mixed up in the Mesilla Valley Transport blow up back in 2009 where they were running no CDL guys to Canada and having so many accidents and having to finish loads and go pick up trucks. I can't fathom what is happening now, i'm just glad i'm not part of it anymore.
I spent 42 years running oil patch and heavy haul in the mountains . There is NEVER a reason for brake failure. There is only driver negligence and or laziness and or reckless driving which this "driver" sounds guilty of all 3 .
County! 12 years ago, before I retired from the Volunteer Fire dept. I responded to a semi- truck rollover on an oilfield road 20 miles from 285, that runs through N.M. in Eddy county...the driver was the only person injured; as I was assisting the other E.M.T' s in the back of the ambulance, a state police officer, ask me if I could get the driver's license; I handed the license to the officer & he started laughing..I ask him what was so funny? The driver had a broken leg! The officer said" this guy has a Mexican taxi cab license!" In N.M. a C.D.L. with a tanker/ transport endorsement is required! And no he didn't speak english! Luckily this was a single vehicle accident! It scares me that these unlicensed people are out here driving semi- trucks! The Colorado mountains are not a place to be for an inexperienced driver. I used to run out of Denver. When you see the speed limit says 40 mph or even some say 25 mph its best to heed the advice.
In a later interview, Cruz-Mendoza allegedly told troopers “he lost his brakes,” and had a driver’s license out of Mexico. Cruz-Mendoza also allegedly told troopers that he had left Cheyenne, Wyoming, at about 10 a.m., but “was unsure of his destination and it was on the paperwork inside the semi.” The affidavit stated that troopers inspected the truck and found that the fifth axle brakes were “‘way’ below the minimum requirements.” Additionally, a CSP trooper found that the last annual inspection sticker on the semi’s can was from 2020, the affidavit reported. Additionally, troopers learned that he was convicted of speeding and operating without lawfully required equipment in 2022 out of Pennsylvania.
I rarely used the brakes on the 379 other than under 15 mph when I cut off the Jake’s and to get under 65 then let the Jake’s and shift do my braking. I also regularly deal with people who think they were legal to do farm driving even though they didn’t obtain the “farm cdl” required to operate for farm usage the state requires that think they’re trucking experts that surprise me they haven’t done something like this yet
I blame both sides because this just didn't start 4yrs ago The companies that hire these trucking companies should be sued for keeping them in business

FJB
AMEN!!
The trucking industry has gone to crap with me no speak English they don't belong on the road I started in the early 80s and there was no where near the accident out on the road back then glad to be retired after 4 millions Mile accident free consecutively
You are right and congratulations on your retirement and 4 million achievement. Only a truck driver truly knows how big of an accomplishment that is!!
This is a real problem. We need to get a handle on it
If you ride the Brakes downhill they will get so hot that they no longer work.
Rev up down gear
I have been retired since 2005, I have never seen nor heard of 5th wheel brakes? Anybody know?
5th wheel brakes?
He Meant 5th Axle. In a previous comment to me he said 5th axle and if you read it that way it makes a lot of sense.
This is no shit, most truck stops sell a variety of flip flops now!!
You are absolutely right I hope we the real hard working American truckers with lots of pride need to take back the trucking industry
This won’t happen as long as we drivers get treated like Sh*t by LEO in several states, by the DOT in many states, by the whole state of CA, by customers who are allowed to retain drivers at docks for 2-20 HOURS in docks with no pay.
People like to hate on the big carriers but this guy would never be working for CRE.
I mean..... during my 2 years I've learned when the brakes get hot they can stop working all together especially if the brake drums are worn even if brake pads are within legal spec.
Look how many people die at intersections before they put in a traffic light.
Open borders, and lack of people wanting to work. Build back better. All we can do it watch this happen and VOTE!
Yes, Please Vote!!
I see a lot of big trucks with seriously incompetent drivers lately. They used to be the safest thing on the road
I feel like I was born 20 years too late. I still respect my job and my industry. What a shame!!
Wow, I could not have said that better!!
hard to believe this is the same profession i have been doing for almost 40 years, the same profession my dad and grandfather did all their lifes. there was a time when i was proud of what i did for a living and proud of my perfect driving record. met a lot of good people through out the years but boy has it changed. i only have a few more years until i retire and i plan on getting out and totally forgetting about what this profession has become. knights of the road no more
You better be damned proud of who you are and what you have done for this country and also be proud that you showed the world in your generation what you were taught by your father and grandfather. I love this industry and I still have quite a few years left but I will never stop being a knight of the highway. Even if nobody else sees it because of everything going on I will know that I was the best at what I did as you should also. We can't control everything!!
This is jus sad, sad, SAD. I feel for the families loss of life. Jus sad, these companies needs to start doing a complete back ground check, BEFORE THESE DRIVERS ARE HIRED.
Thanks to the Dems every one is entitled just let any body get a driver's license it's that way in MN legal American or not the MN Dems will give you a driver's license
a joe briben voter, he invited them
Keep on letting them in Biden, this 💩 is just gonna keep getting worst.
if ya want more of this -- vote democrat in November
AMEN!!!
Wait until the FMCSA adds more safety measures. 1990 was my rookie year. And there's been so many 18 wheeler accidents since then. I'm permanently retiring in August 2025. Good Luck, God Bless and Drive Safe.
I've been down I-70 west of Denver, where it's a 35 mph speed limit, and I'm constantly getting passed by other truck drivers passing me, riding their already smoking brakes, at 70+
Blam the gov that's there policy
I was a driver for 15 years. And I just retired from driving. Because of all the B S that been going on with truck driving. And I have deal with another of none speaking drivers. And I believe that if they can't speak English or read it don't come in a country that you can't understand what the language is. . But to all the drivers out there besafe out there
I'm a toll collector on the NJTP and truck drivers do use a translator on their phone to talk to me. I also have a CDL. I wonder how he takes the test for a CDL if he can't speak, and I'm assuming he can't read English.
Why is this illegal immigrants in the United States anyway
Ask Joey Obiden
Why doesn’t stuff like this make the news all over the USA the liberal news station only you you what works for them.
AMEN
They need stricter rules on who gets a license, English speaking and actual knowledge of the truck, these schools are just throwing people out on the road, then companies hire them and put them in a truck with an "experienced trainer"who doesn't really care if they learn or not. His blood is on fmcsa's hands.
What was the company name?
Monique Trucking
Sad, that America doesn't make this mandatory for CDL holders to read & write ENGLISH in this country!!!!!!!😬🙄😫😩😤😡🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢
Heck some states offer the test in a dozen languages
Used to be the law. You had to be able to read and understand English in order to get your cdl.
You’d think so since all of the road signs are in English
It Still is, Watch my video about the FMCSA Telling DOT Officers to ignore the law!!
Always pump your brakes on prolonged braking distances (250ft+)
Just starting watch all the lawsuits when deportation starts
Professionalism can be hard to come by sometimes
I think after this guy got out of the hospital, he was deported back to Mexico!
I live in Colorado, they dropped all charges to mistumeners, can't believe this myself, the guy who came down I-70 and killed 4 people got 110 years governor polis droped it to 10 years, this is unbelievable
The Colorado mountains are not a place to be for an inexperienced driver. I used to run out of Denver. When you see the speed limit says 40 mph or even some say 25 mph its best to heed the advice.
Yes. I just came across the PNW from Montana to Tacoma and even with an empty flat bed I was respecting the recommendations!!
Hundreds of drivers like him are driving with out any documents ,DOT people keep a eye on this drivers!!!
I think our last president said something about this. They aren’t sending their best here…… just saying.
I remember that same thing!!
Comprehension is key to the English language
In a later interview, Cruz-Mendoza allegedly told troopers “he lost his brakes,” and had a driver’s license out of Mexico.
Cruz-Mendoza also allegedly told troopers that he had left Cheyenne, Wyoming, at about 10 a.m., but “was unsure of his destination and it was on the paperwork inside the semi.”
The affidavit stated that troopers inspected the truck and found that the fifth axle brakes were “‘way’ below the minimum requirements.” Additionally, a CSP trooper found that the last annual inspection sticker on the semi’s can was from 2020, the affidavit reported.
Additionally, troopers learned that he was convicted of speeding and operating without lawfully required equipment in 2022 out of Pennsylvania.
Such BS
Shame on the mess, Shame on these Open Borders / Trump 2024
AMEN!!
All good. Illegals can do whatever they want. In Northern Virginia they make their own rules. Just the new America.
I really wish I could say you are wrong!!
We allow, no encourage an invasion of our country. Remember this in November!
FJB!
Funny how life imitates art. "we don't need no stinkin license". Thanks Mel Brooks and Blazing Saddles.
Who hired him?
How was he even allowed to get in the truck or get hired without a CDL ?
How did this guy get his hands on a truck? That is the question. The liability starts here.
Watch my next video. He worked for a 2 truck company with a 100% Out of Service rating.
looks like the family of the dead just became owners of a trucking company
Think of how many more are out there on the highway. This is brought to you by Brandon.
That's what scares me everyday!!
One guy killed four people because he lost his brakes and had no Jakes on this highway 285. His sentence was 9 years.
I blame both sides because this just didn't start 4yrs ago The companies that hire these trucking companies should be sued for keeping them in business
They will just send him back. So he can come back to the US later and do it again.
So what he is in our country
another great video bro but damg u slaccin on that tsh history request😂😂 its all good. one day. maybe....after i retire lol.
"CFR Title 49
§ 391.11 General qualifications of drivers.
(b) ... a person is qualified to drive a motor vehicle if he/she-
(2) Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records;"
Unfortunately the FMCSA is telling people to ignore that law and they are being very sneaky about it. Check out this video of mine ua-cam.com/video/Ucs77HqyWQc/v-deo.htmlsi=IsG7wwuoTn4J3nIP. You will be outraged!!
I drove for almost 10 years without a CDL, without issue,Got pulled over for a flickering marker lite, the officer said go home and park it till I get a cdl, so I got one.
Welcome to REALITY. No penalty for new immigrants.
I feel bad 😔😭 about this.
No non-english speaking person should be allowed to drive commercial vehicles. CDLs earned in the USA only should be permitted. Larger companies are going to start requiring 1 year minimum, driving big rigs without citation, in order to get hired.
