A lot of people have associated video gaming with a lazy lay back activity, players included. My friends tell me they like to just plop themselves down on their couches, pick up their controllers, and just lounge. I say that the experience of gaming is an activity (even when you are sitting). It stimulates your mind, uses glucose (sugar) like any workout, and increases your heart rate via concentration and anxiety (eg. playing The Last of Us).
VR gaming is akin to lacing up and playing "ball." You have short routine to prep and play (both pre and post) but as time goes buy, you're not spending 40 minutes lacing up your shoes. It takes seconds. I play competitively in the VR Master League but only have been playing VR hardcore since September. A friend invited me onto the scene and I was hooked by the emersion and work out. The community is amazing (online multiplayer) and the games will eat up your time if you lose yourself (as with "pancake" games). There isn't any research to really do. The beginning will include a learning curve, but when you're done with it, our experience will be boundless.
