So I have been watching you and your beautiful family for several years.. I find myself coming back to the beginning of your amazing adventure in life where everything started. I think to myself how much Riley and Elayna must look back on their first few videos and think of the memories either on or off camera. It always leaves such a warm feeling in my heart. Having been though some serious trauma ( loss of my wife, mental health disorders, substance abuse *Clean and sober now* ) and working a lot of 12 hour shifts lately the only way I find myself unwinding and relaxing has been cuddling up in bed and watching your videos. Riley, your sense of humor and your courage inspire me more than words can say. Your a brave, strong and encouraging soul and I hope you leave the same impact on me as to others. Elayna you and Riley help bring back many memories of my wife and I which I am forever grateful for. Your such a gentle soul, caring and empowering mother I truly hope maybe someday I'll have the opportunity to meet your family in person. Many people must say this but I absolutely mean it ( coming from some random nobody) but your family deserves so much more credit for EVERYTHING you all have been through and what you keep pushing yourselves to do to keep your lifestyle. I know I'm not the only one nor the last person your family has brought happiness, joy and warmth too but I just want to say I am so very thankful I came across your channel and I wish nothing but the best for you all. I came back to the first video after watching your "how we met" video and I just want to say you two have built such a beautiful life and it warms my heart so much because you seem to be truly soulmates.
Here from August 2022 and I’ve been meaning to go back to the start…Riley hasn’t aged a day but today is much more savvy and likes to espouse wisdom and we all love his words of wisdom! Elayna is fabulous both back then and present day…a great sailing couple to watch, to learn from, be entertained by, and to live vicariously!! Just heard Riley laugh…it hasn’t changed! The music has always been consistently good. 🤣🤣 🇳🇿🐑🇳🇿🐑NZ
Such an infectious channel. I've been watching since the beginning and now find myself re watching from the start. I think my favourites are the first time that outreamer moored up in the same bay and you saw your future. It was like That's it. That's the boat I want. And the whirlwind that followed with the company reaching out with an invitation to see one close up. Then the deal they agreed to to enable you guys to own a piece of their heritage. Then came the little feet and now onto the ultimate in ocean crushing brilliance that you have now. I love to see the trials you've faced along the way and how you meet them head on. Truly inspiring. The greatest thing is of course the dynamic you have as a couple and a family. Living the dream and its beautiful 😍
My God!!! Rewatching this has me crying... the history... thank you for giving us the pleasure of following you both throughout your adventures. You've given up your privacy and made a small fortune for it...and wisely so....but you've given us all more than you'll ever receive from it.. we love you.. thank you thank you thank you
Hi Riley and Elayna - just looking back to where you began and watching all your vids. Elayne your editing goes so sharp so early - you are amazing. Ill make sure to thumbs up each one I watch. Love to you all.
Big Fans! You inspired us to start our adventure and make us dream come true . Restoring our Morgan 45 /1966 and making planes to start cursing around World with that Classic Beauty . Thank you 100s times . Peck and Ella
Hi to both of you, my husband and I have been watching your videos for about 8 months now, But I just realized that I could be binge watching these daily from beginning to end. Thank you for sharing your lovely life together.
After what was probably a year of watching La Vagabonde videos I FINALLY made it through to the present. It's been an adventure. You've gotten so damn good at editing Elayna! Really, your videos now are so professional and top notch. You guys have 1m subs because of the endless improvement to quality. Those classes you guys took made a big difference. Your commitment to the subscribers is beyond any other sailing vlog. Mad props. I hope to watch for many more years. I went back to episode one to at least see how a few of the first episodes were in comparison. What an epic adventure you guys have taken. My wife and I try to adventure as much as possible with a home base. Our friends and family sure think we do a lot but I've always wanted to make that commitment to full time. It's difficult without having the bank roll or the mobile work. I'd love to figure out an income that could come with me on our travels. Anyway, just wanted to say I'm a big fan and that I'm looking forward to the future. You've inspired millions of people to at least be somewhat more adventurous. Also to take better care of their planet. You two are great role models for our generation. Mad
Matthew SuperNova There was a guy who had a heavy duty mig/tig welder powered off a generator. Said there were always jobs to pick up wherever there were fishing boats or remote places without power. And I know a woman, a professional hairdresser, who reckons she can find work pretty much anywhere.
The thing that overwhelms me is that you bought the boat with absolutely no sailing knowledge at all. You had a goal and you just went for it. Amazing.
Now that they’re a family, thought it would be interesting to come back a few years later and watch all these early episodes again. Knowing how far they’ve come, and how things have changed, and how much we’ve all grown through their adventure, it was an interesting re-exploration of the origin story. Happy patreon for years, and ardent follower. These episodes make me smile when I recall how they made me feel when I first came across them so many years ago..
You guys are living the dream! Nice to see a younger couple doing some world cruising for once and living in the moment, not being so caught up in jobs/careers. Im heading off on my first Sydney Hobart race tomorrow! Merry christmas to you both happy cruising I will be keeping an eye out for your videos.
+mrstuperstefan Your envy is sad. For every lazy schmuck claiming they've worked hard for everything, there's an endless amount of others who've worked harder for less. Stop bein' a douche, and maybe somebody will give you a cookie. Is that what you want? A cookie?
I'm starting at Ep 1... We just returned from visiting my partner's family who live on their boat in southern France - we sailed a bit out of port to the islands of St Honorat and St. Marguerite on the Riviera - it was AMAZING.... I'm fascinated by the lifestyle. Thought I would check out some sailing life videos, to see if this is a dream I can realize. Never mind my fear of the sea and sea life - I'm determined to overcome it, so I'm watching.... then I hear you say you purchased your boat in Bari! CIAO! (My partner is from Bari - you should've seen his smile when he heard that.) Thank you for sharing your lifestyle. Looking forward to catching up with your present videos. Much love from Italy!!!!!
Thanks for the flash back of 7 years. I have been watching you almost from the beginning and enjoyed the memories. Thanks again for taking us along and letting us watch you grow and take on life, the Riley and Alana way.💞
I've been watching for 2 or 3 years now and decided to see how it all began. What a fun throwback, I'm sure you just want to cringe at the way you're sailing and filming. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Stumble on your channel as a recommendation from UA-cam on vid 196 and oh how much I love this channel. Here I am starting the journey from the beginning.
My family (wife, 3 kids) start our adventure next September. Our boat is patiently waiting while we detangle from regular life. For now, I will live vicariously through the 2 of you.
Well, well, well. I ran across this video so long ago now. Years. I think SLV had 9,000 subscribers. As a Canadian seeing someone in red plaid making points with a screwdriver as he talked, well that sold me- I had to watch. And that hat of the same style I wear when I have to go outside in blizzards and cold. I didn't think anyone else wore that stupid hat you wouldn't wear in company and here this guy is wearing it on broadcast video. I thought I'd found a kindred spirit, He was relaxed in the same relaxing position I take when a day's work is done and dressed about the same. The cute girlfriend mouthing the words to the call to prayer I first heard in Kuala Lumpur before she was born, and the breathtaking views over the Turkish bay, it all was very inviting and I had to watch more. Then we had Bilgey, who is forgotten about now, but Bilgey should have been a toy, come think of it. Would have sold billions. :) Suddenly Riley was jumping off the mast celebrating 100,000 subs. In the Caribbean he commented quite a few people recognized him from the videos. I was sad when SLV 1 was let go for SLV2, with its cork bulletin board made from popped wine, but there had been a hint change was coming, Elayna pointing out in one episode, looking out a window, "Oh, look, an Ourremer!" I shoulda paid more attention. I was a tad upset with the new boat, SLV 3 as I loved the Outremer people. I mean you had to love the company and and thought, my God, this is like leaving your wife for a hot 18-year-old. Not happy. But the hot 18-year-old turned out to be amazingly fast, dodging dodgy weather and Elayna and the two kids seem to be safe and comfortable in it with its copper shower head and a 50s or 70s retro bedroom, so after many missed episodes missed I'm back on board. But it all started with this one a very long time ago. My goodness. Time flies. it's been one good channel.
Because Henry Cavill recently recommended their channel on Instagram and they got a bit of a boost through that. I assume it made UA-cam recommend them. They popped up in my recommended and then I heard about the other thing in the comments soooo...
Just started. A current episode popped up randomly in my feed and now, like others, I am enjoying the opportunity to get caught up. Very entertaining content and more "real" than reality TV. I know absolutely zero about sailing and live far from the ocean, and that makes it more interesting for me rather than less. When I travel, I like to get away from people rather than line up in cruise ship queues or be trampled by crowds. So, I appreciate their skill in avoiding the tourist spots. Looks sooooo fun and adventurous.
I have watched so many of these...had to go back and start from the beginning....this couple has an addicting personality’s that you just can’t get enough of...Props to you both....you are living the dream! May Jesus bless all your adventures and your new born!

I really dig your journey. I'm new to sailing and fully hooked. I bought a 27' sloop without knowing one thing about sailing. The best part is pointing it out to sea and figuring it out. Italy, Turkey and Greece looks amazing. Good luck and fair wind.

Riley and Elayna, you are both freakin amazing. Here I am, and Australian in London, and I am so inspired by your story. What keeps me going is the prospect of such escapades (on a more minor scale). In fact I've just paid a deposit on a 36 footer and have the inspection tomorrow - you have calmed my nerves and reinvogorate the challenge in me. PS. love the fact you read so much - you're not the average bears.

You've given up your privacy and made a small fortune for it...and wisely so....but you've given us all more than you'll ever receive from it.. we love you.. thank you thank you thank you
Riley’s eyes blend in with the ocean. It’s as if he was destined to do this! 👌🏾
So who is here in 2024 ?
Me
Me ! Been watching for like 6 years, and just for I would have a little looks back !

Mad

There was a guy who had a heavy duty mig/tig welder powered off a generator.
Amazing.
Quite lucky they're alive actually
Now that they’re a family, thought it would be interesting to come back a few years later and watch all these early episodes again. Knowing how far they’ve come, and how things have changed, and how much we’ve all grown through their adventure, it was an interesting re-exploration of the origin story. Happy patreon for years, and ardent follower. These episodes make me smile when I recall how they made me feel when I first came across them so many years ago..
Tom Phillips same!
Dude!!!! spoiler alert :)
I never get tired coming back to the old videos. This is my 3rd time. Still as good as the first time
I am loving these REAL Amateur vids...so glad they are still up. Thank you La Vagabonde
2019, just met you on your video #199, and now I am starting when everything began.
Magus Barba same for me 5/30/19
How funny is that me too :-)
You guys are living the dream! Nice to see a younger couple doing some world cruising for once and living in the moment, not being so caught up in jobs/careers. Im heading off on my first Sydney Hobart race tomorrow! Merry christmas to you both happy cruising I will be keeping an eye out for your videos.
If I was young and wealthy I would spend my time skipping around the globe. But I had to work for the things I have
***** Oh....I'm sure. He came from a hard scrabble background. The MEAN streets. No breaks for him. To....be.....sure

Your envy is sad.
I randomly caught episodes somewhere around 178 - 197, so now am having to go back and watch from the beginning - joining the Binge Watch Nation!
Who is here in 2020? And WHY did I just discover them today?
Because Henry Cavill recently recommended their channel on Instagram and they got a bit of a boost through that. I assume it made UA-cam recommend them. They popped up in my recommended and then I heard about the other thing in the comments soooo...
Today is the 27th of Jan of 2020, discovered the channel by chance 2 weeks ago and now i cant stop. just started the marathon now. :D
Looks sooooo fun and adventurous.
been here for like a year or so. These guys are awesome
Been here for about five years now. Just have to say - it keeps getting better. Welcome to a great show!!
I just want to let you guys know that your future self is doing great! + Lenny!

I've been a long time watcher but I'm starting from the beginning again. It's amazing to see how you've grown!! Good for you guys! Xoxo 💙💙👍👍
This is actually making me chuckle (especially the music) 😂 So wildly different compared to the high quality content you have now!
Ela they became more and more better but still love the old video !!
You two are to be admired for what you are doing, well done. I hope you are having a great adventure.

Since subscribing to this channel, it never dawned on me to watch the very first episode. Glad I did, I can see how much they have progressed over the last four years!
Oh, the memories. I really love these old videos---probably more than the newer, more professionally produced ones. These are just so REAL and they made so many of us fall in love with you guys. Wishing you continued good health and good times.
Never sailed myself ...but it's been a life long dream ....thanks for sharing your adventure
stuck in Oregon in a huge rain storm and I really could use some sunny ocean vids. loving it.
Just Get Unstuck.
I really dig your journey. I'm new to sailing and fully hooked. I bought a 27' sloop without knowing one thing about sailing. The best part is pointing it out to sea and figuring it out. Italy, Turkey and Greece looks amazing. Good luck and fair wind.
I rewatched episode 1 in honor of your anniversary. Congratulations on how far you've come and all that you've achieved, and may you have many happy and exciting, but safe, adventures ahead of you in the years to come.
Aiai, found myself watching all the episodes backwards during a 6-7 days! TOTALLY WORTH IT! Keep it up guys!
Wow, you two have come a long way. I feel like I've watched you grow up and become professionals. :) Safe travels.
16 when i first started watching yous... When this was first uploaded.
Now 21, watching this video blows my mind for you guys. I wonder if you realize how valuable these videos are and will be.
If it makes me feel a certain way, i can't imagine what yous must feel when watching back.
Cheers for making me feel apart of something over the years. A different life is great to experience.
And if future Lenny (if reading), how priceless is this?
25 years old now and still coming back
I hope with all my heart that you both remember what you have created together!
Seriously, you two!!
In the last 9 years, you have created a presence that is unprecedented by any other cruiser sharing their life with the world.
You both use the term frequently... "legends" Yeah, that's you 2 and your growing family ❤️
I salute you, the courage you show for taking a life adventure that nothing can really compare too.
"...not kids that you've stolen, but kids that would come on board..." Laughed to tears.
Hilarious!
Just found this channel.2021. Spending my day off binge watching and daydreaming. Beautiful family. Cool to think how your kids can look back at your adventures before and with them.
Randomly stumbled up a more recent upload of yours but thought I'd go back in the archives and watch from the beginning. Looks like an interesting adventure to follow along with!
***** cheers folks. Did a marathon of 10 episodes. Looks like a rad time!!
same man watching them all over. can't wait to live this dream my self :)
Hayden Hass You got plans to buy a yacht?
yes pretty soon I'm going to do the trip around the world in about 3-4 years but I'm going to learn in that time hopefully and save money from my job :)
Hayden Hass Awesome!! You need a deck hand?
Came back to watch from the beginning. Just discovered your channel a few months ago and am completely hooked! No pun intended .. your movies are a literal escape from the realities of living w a disability. Although my body cannot do what you guys can, I'm so glad that through your videos my soul and my mind feel as though I'm experiencing something special just in a different way.I hope you k
See this comment & know just how much of a difference u make to those of us who are sick with all of your hard work. It's an inspiring story that makes us dream. Saving up so I can support you on Patreon every month. Thank you and safe journeys the 3 of you now!!
So funny to see how it all began - I have been following for years now
Watched about 13 videos (out of order...) so I had to go back from the *_beginning_*
_Grabs popcorn and soda_
That's wot happened to me too' now on ep 180
Well done for taking a leap of faith, I have just watched you on Eamon and Bec's channel you are certainly extremely accomplished sailors in 2021 Well done guys I'm going to subscribe
After stumbling across your videos a couple of weeks ago (and subsequently realising what I have to do) I've managed to get myself on board a 33ft yacht setting off from Darwin in about 3 weeks time. We'll be bobbing about PNG for a while and eventualy heading south to Sydney.
Cheers guys. Somehow you played a part.
Been watching a few years now. Don't think I ever watched the first videos. Nice to see that after all the years they are still having fun sailing together.
Ho ree crap! Talk about a blast from the past. Two kids and a new boat to come, my how things have changed. And I've not missed any of it. Thanx mates!
Brilliant. With all the artificial crap in the world, it's so refreshing to see something so genuine. Enjoy the adventure!
Just discovered your channel. Having watched episode 199, I have decided to start from the beginning. Looking forward to what's to come.
Who’s been following these two and their boys and decided to go back to where it all began?
Good on you Riley! I sailed a Beneteau 40 in SoCal USA for 15 years, and other boats before that. Kudos to you for making a plan, and working the plan. Looking forward to all your vids.
Still one of my favourites years on
The part where they talk about the children’s room...little did they know they would have one of their own !
Kinda felt like they knew 😉
Its 2021 and thats recently been updated to 2 :) although the videos haven't quite caught up yet.
Can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I first stumbled upon this magical channel. You guys have sure come a long way! Sic Parvis Magna or greatness from small beginnings as Sir Francis Drake would say.
I have news for you, Riley: the "pride and joy" of your boat is not the solar panels. It's Elayna.
Been watching you guys for years now, since i was like 14. super fun going back to these old vids to Watch over again! Love what u guys Are doing.
Greetings from Norway.
This is so nostalgic, I've been watching you for a year or two. I love it. You guys are the best, your journey has been so entertaining and I hope for many more great episodes. Im only 16 but Im looking forward to follow your steps. Fair winds to you my friends!
This is my dream! Thank You for posting these videos! It really helps move me through the day at my shit corporate job while dreaming and scheming about sailing the globe. Till I see you on the seas mate! Cheers!
Everett Jesse your dream is to sail the world with a beautiful woman aboard. So weird 😂
wow hearing that call to prayer, after waking up on a boat must be surreal
Starting at the beginning... It's no wonder with a first video this good that you are so popular!
I'm starting too hahah, this is superb
I’ve almost watched them all (newer episodes) now I’m going back to the beginning to see how it all started! Such a wonderful family. ♥️
What an absolute inspiring video! You are now on my daily watch list! Keep up the good work guys and don't stop living your dream!!
Just found you guys and have decided to see where your journey began ❤

Go ! Go Aussie! - I bought a little yacht to learn a while back. No idea. Just did it. I still don't know the names of all the rigging but who cares... Learnt as I went. - But you guys - holy shit ! You guys are smashing it. Big credit to your combined resourcfullness. You really lifted the bar for "just do it".
Its the only way to do it........Just go
I remember stumbling across your video, it was S1 ep 12. The sound track of that video had an impact,on my soul. I was in a difficult place in my career that impacted my health . Then I found your S1 E1, and marathon began. That was winter early 2016 . What a great and human story you have accomplished.
Y’all said it was cringe worthy, but I’d have to say that this is one of the BEST first videos I have ever seen. Excellent cinematography, editing, content…a great introduction to the both of you.
Hey guys, nice vid and great to see you in Turkey. We started our adventures in Turkey and loved it. We're in Malaysia/Thailand now but often think of our times in the Aegean. Not sure if you're still there but, if you are, take your time! Peace, love and fair winds - Jamie, Liz and Millie - The Esper Crew
Living the dream, sailing around the world with an absolute hottie!! You're easy on the eye too Riley!! Keep on enjoying and sail safe!
You guys are so lucky! it looks amazing, good luck please upload more videos!
my my - how far you've both come in 3 years - truly astonishing and so very pleased for you both - it has been a great ride along and long may it continue
