Every time I watch this, Oliver is just so patient, empathetic and very supportive. The judges were wonderful. This two sing well together.
I just watched a recent interview Oliver gave. He said that he didn't even know that Iam's dad had died, until after this duet. Iam talked about his dad, but not that he had died, and these backstories weren't put in until it aired. Oliver also said that he was the one that told Iam to tape the lyrics to his guitar. Iam didn't want to, because he'd get in trouble. Oliver told him he wouldn't, that they'd probably think it was funny. Iam never told the judges that, and he has also never shared that. Oliver knew the song, but Iam didn't- but loved it. The thing is, he was singing harmony on that song, and that was his dad's part. The other thing is Iam was still in high school (he graduated last month), and he had to do senior classwork, on top of everything the other contestants had to do. He never mentions that either.
I love how Oliver and the judges were able to boost Iam’s confidence to where he was able to pull off a great performance almost as if nothing happened. Really admire his resilience.
I wish they'd release this song together as a single on the radio. I'd play it on repeat ❤

I absolutely LOVE their Photographs duet! Did you see that Iam was headlining a concert in Hawaii over the July 4th weekend? Oliver joined him on stage for a duet. The were also gifted gorgeous custom made "brothers" ukuleles.

Love this duet! I'm back again and was just here yesterday lol. When Iam sings with anyone else, it's always beautiful. I've said this before, but I think from singing with his father, he's truly learned how to really harmonize with others and always brings out the best in everyone. And Iam and Oliver together are two gentle souls whose voices mesh together perfectly! See y'all tomorrow probably lol!

Oliver admitted in a recent interview that taping the lyrics to Iam’s guitar was his idea. He said Iam didn’t want to do it as he didn’t want to get in trouble. He reassured Iam he wouldn’t, the judges wouldn’t even care, and that they’d even like it. And Oliver was right… sort of. 😉
