Good luck with your ticket! Anything parking authority is a joke especially near Philadelphia and Washington DC area! I also have a cheat for you with lyft runs being to far away, I been just shutting down or restarting my phone when the request ping comes on and my acceptance rating doesn't change!
Thank you for that tip! I've heard you might also be able to accomplish the same thing by toggling airplane mode on or even just forcing the app closed. Have you ever tried either of those?

LA just needs more parking rather than generously giving tickets away... I've gotten 3 tickets in less than a year. One for parking in an alley with no noparking sign. One on a public street with parking only for residents at night and one street cleaning...

I parked in Anaheim in a neighborhood. There was no sign about street sweeping and they still gave me a parking ticket. The street sweeping signs were on other streets, but no rules where I parked. Gonna try contest it, but they just gonna say they don't have to post signs clearly. Felt deceived when I was aware there was a street sweeping rule sign on one street but not the other street.

You should have video tape yourself adding money to the broken meter after- you got the ticket or even before you left!
Yes it should be a video rather than a picture so they can see how it reacted, or didn't react properly when the coin was dropped in
have you heard back from the ticket citation yet? also, can you speak a little bit more about the administrative hearing process? they just recorded you on a video? was there a time limit? what would you suggest if I am to be going to my first hearing on thursday?
Hey! Sorry if this is too late to help, but yes, I received a letter saying I'm still responsible because I could've still paid with a credit card even though I already paid with coins. Bullshit money-grab by the city, if you ask me. The hearing process is pretty straightforward - you just go into an office and explain your side of the story. There's no time limit, but how long can it possibly take to explain why you don't deserve a ticket? What was your ticket for? How was your hearing?
Are you going to contest their verdict? I'm curious what the options are they gave you at this point. You have a right to appeal to a judge at this point but not sure if they disclose that.

when you're picking up food how much time and coins do you usually put in?
It depends on a bunch of factors: how close is the spot to the restaurant? how long do I expect to wait? I'm always gonna put as few as possible. If it turns out to be a long wait, I can go back and add more. On this one I learned my lesson and will never park at a broken meter again
Did they ever refund you? I imagine they don't. And the gaslighting is so uncalled for, they did the same to me and I got the boot.

Right now I am homeless with a blown engine in my newer car and paying the mechanic literally on the same block in payments down the street to work ok n my car. Lucky for me I am parked on my bestfriend block in his residential neighborhood I moved the car a few feet back and still got ticketed? So I am going to move the car across the street. I am working two jobs I am going to see if I am hassled again by parking enforcement really embarrassing I really do not want to get a refund back for my engine to be installed. But we will see.

if your time is up, and If you see you are getting a parking ticket, go and pay immediately, then take a picture of both tickets, go online and contest. The ticked should be voided if you purchased the ticket in 60 seconds after issued ticket. another tip, offer the the person to do rock, paper, scissors and shoot, it works ;)

Guess what? I actually did 😃
But of course the city website was terrible and wouldn't accept the video file because it was too big. So instead I uploaded stills from the video, showing me putting in money and the meter still red.
And guess what else? I saw those pictures in my case file and they still ruled against me! The letter I got after my hearing said I could've paid with a credit card so I'm responsible, even though I explained that I didn't have a credit card with me and I had already put coins in.
So basically the city of LA is just running a fraud to steal from citizens. And apparently, anyone who wants to park needs to have a credit card, which surprises me, since by law, cash must always be accepted as payment in this country, yet the meter didn't accept my cash. I didn't deserve a ticket.

I got a red zone parking ticket but my car was parked far away from the red zone
I took a couple pictures and i showed to the clerk in the office and they ignored
They make me feel a complaint form and told me to wait for at least 10 days

So what happened??? I challenged a parking ticket like that in Santa Konicaand got denied…
I went to a “hearing” at some LA parking office (my ticket was city of LA), met with a city employee who gets a generous public salary and she said my claim wasn’t good enough. I even showed a video of me putting another coin in the meter and it not crediting me any time. Last couple years meters have been literally melting in the hot sun so it’s no surprise they don’t work. But the city refuses to stop or ticket people for reckless driving, no license plates, etc, because it’s easier to just give parking tickets

Sucks. But look on the bright side. When I was driving Semis with my CDL, they will ding you a couple thousand dollars just for a speeding ticket, and I once got a $3,600 for being overweight. Truckers are so abused by America - it's sickening.

Marc Steven is spewing forth how to make a career out of not paying a ticket. IF you have many, did I say Many hours to spend spining your wheels this may be for you. I have yet to see the results of his rea life court appearances that ended well for him or his followers.

Ben - Your the reason this system is so corrupt. You won't stand up for that which is right. You give away your rights and give too much power to government and politicians. Some people are more principled and will stand up if they have been wronged. Giving in as you suggest is the reason government is able to scam citizens and flourish. To illustrate my point, in 2016 a man contested - lost the BS write in your reason. He brought a lawsuit in a real court and won more than $725,000. His attorneys were handsomely paid. That case proves the Zerox company has been crossing the legall ine and putting the screws to motorist for years, because lazy motorists let them get away with it.
lol this is true- i remember last time i tried to contend a ticket. I went to court and I was an hour and a half early. They kept making me switch rooms then said the judge had left for the day and that I missed my hearing even though the arrival board said another room. They make it insanely difficult
