Are we there yet? The longest flight in the world

- Using a specially-designed Airbus A350, Singapore Airlines recently launched the longest commercial flight in the world - a 19-hour-long nonstop from New York City to Singapore that connects the two financial capitals on opposite sides of the globe. Kris Van Cleave was on board along with some hardy business travelers to experience an aviation endurance test.

19 hours of Singapore Airlines business class? Yes, please!
The food sucks tho
@@rayaya3342
That would be a major factor in a 18+ hour flight. EWR-SFO-SIN maybe?
vondahe they will just say its fake haha
TranquilMusics Singapore Airlines has the best food in the business 🤷♀️
TranquilMusics There is a huge gap between Singapore Airlines and other airlines..
They're acting like this is some harrowing ordeal. Eating, watching movies and napping in a comfortable business class seat.
@skbuoy Didn't you watch the video? This flight has no economy seats. It's 67 business class seats and 94 premium economy. That's a seat distribution which is extremely shifted compared to normal flights. The reason is that business travelers are more willing to spend extra money on a long direct flight, and because that type of flight costs more due to the weight of the extra fuel it has to carry to fly so long.
premium economy is still economy compared to business class. still even back there. better ergonomics compared to the normal economy seats elsewhere@@mothgru
Trust me when you actually do it you’re like over it and after while let me off ithis damn thing
When you consider the conditions in which our soldiers must work, this flight is a breeze.
emcee2k - I'd be a raving loony by the time I arrived at the destination. I'm not claustrophobic. And I don't fear flying. But I don't handle confinement well.

These people are travelling business class not coach class. They are not getting the real "painful" experience.
I would legit go crazy.
There's no economically feasible way to sell coach seats on this flight, so they just went with premium economy as the baseline. It's also for pretty much for the same reason that you're implying. Nobody wants to be stuck in coach for 18 hours and Singapore Airlines realized that, but also realized that not everybody can afford business class. If someone can't afford the $1,500 round trip ticket in premium, they would probably just fly coach and connect in LA.
Yeah like EWR-HKG in United Economy is probably significantly worse
James Henthorn more like San Francisco probably unless they take the la flight which stops in Tokyo. The nonstop from LA also uses this exact same plane. Only PE and business. The flights from SF has two flights that have regular coach and one flight that’s only PE and business. For LA and Newark its too far to fly nonstop without using the ULR variant.
Eaxactly; I did a 14hr flight from NYC to Abu Dhabi... I think I "dieded" like 3 times.
Flat Earthers are freaking out right now!
... Only if a flight ever flies directly across the south pole, will they freak.
@truEarth Lodge yeah, i know.. I was arguing with Rudie...
@truEarth Lodge Nothing can bolster a Flat Earthers argument. The Earth is an orb. End of story.

Once you've done a 13, 14, or 15 our flight, another hour or two is no big deal. In fact, it gives you longer blocks of time to sleep, instead of the 7-9 hour transatlantic flights where you don't have a full night's sleeping time after you eat your dinner & breakfast meals.
That is my thought. Just did 14 hours jfk to nartia. I said what is 4 more hours flying ewr to sin
@@G-y_m Narita* How is/was Japan? I went in 2017 with my now wife and we LOVED it. The flight was pretty bad though even though we flew JAL
Thank you. All these news broadcasters are making such a huge deal out of this flight.
Exactly. I fly from New York to Hong Kong and back all the time. It's already a 15.5 to 16 hours flight. Two or three more hours wouldn't be that big of a deal. I could probably get more sleep or watch another movie.
Yup this. 16+ Auckland to Dubai meant a meal and a fantastic long sleep.
I flew Qantas from Sydney to Dallas a few years back. At the time it was the longest commercial flight available. It was 17.5 hours. I transferred in Dallas and flew another 4.5 hours to RDU. Because of when I took off and the direction we flew, and the rotation of the Earth, I stayed in the same calendar day for 38 hours.

LUCKY 472 would be much smaller and less comfy than a car seat, and you cant lay down
LUCKY 472 it's a slightly wider economy seat with a longer pitch, done up in better upholstery. Usually the food is a bit better or it's at least presented nicer. Check out air new Zealand's premium economy. It's arguably on par with the business class of some other carriers.

Nice! I'm flying to Singapore next week on Qatar and have to make a 3hr pit stop in Doha to change planes. The one-way trip is over 20 hours. However, I'm glad for the break. I did 15 hr and 30 min coach from Sydney to Dallas on a Qantas A380. I found it incredibly enjoyable because of the airline! They give you 3 meals and about 200 movies (new and old) to choose from. The seats are well padded and there is a generous amount of seat recline. Modern planes are also incredibly quiet... especially the A380. Would it do again? Yes, but I would check which airline you're flying with first. Qantas, Singapore, Cathay Pacific, JAL, ANA are incredible options but flying with United or American I probably wouldn't do it.
Michael K Cool! I live in the Dallas area and I see the Qantas a380 fly over our house everyday at about noon. It’s such a beautiful aircraft and I can’t wait to fly on it soo.

I regularly fly 16 to 17 hours straight. 19 hours no big deal
I'm Vietnamese and every once and a while I go to Vietnam. I usually go the same route every time but this time I'm taking another route. I have a 16 hour flight, and even if you have luxurious things, IT IS NOT PLEASANT at all. You become very bored because the screens on the back of your seat only have a limited supply of things for you. The best you can do is sleep and catch up on TV shows or something. I WOULD take the flight to go, so I can visit family. But it's very cramping and hard.

Another awesome part of the composites is that since there is less worry about moisture corroding the airframe, the cabin can be more humid than on other planes.

my longest trip was from Chile to China, 2 days in airports and airplanes
From Antofagasta(city of Chile) to Santiago. (1 hour and a half) then from Santiago to Sao Paulo (almost 4 hours) Sao Paulo to Dubai (14 hours) and Dubai to Shanghai (8 hours) :)))

I am not a fan of Airbus whatsoever, but I think the a350 is one of the coolest planes out there. There are a lot of them that are built like this for normal flights. The reason is, is because they save money on fuel so they can give more comfort to the passengers.
I drove straight once from Bratislava (Slovakia) to London (UK). It was a long road but I stopped about 2 times for a 30 minute nap and plenty of coffee. I did it in the summer when daylight levels are better but I felt fine, not too tired.

Wow first time ever in history longest flight from Singapore to New York
I recently went on what was briefly the longest flight in the world: Auckland-Dubai at 17.5 hours on one of Emirate's A380s. On the way back the plane, an Emirates B777 stopped at Bali for 2 hours.
