My equipment is a 1979 Pioneer SA 610 Amplifier, an SX 610 Pre amplifier, Fluance RT82 turntable with an Ortofon OM 10 cartridge. A JVC HX pro cassette deck and a pair of 35 year old Klipsch speakers. Really enjoyed the tour. Keep up the good work Melinda.

    Cheers Melinda, There certainly is a lot to be cheerful about with your sound system. You provided a really nice tour of the soundscape. 👍👍👍 If you decide to upgrade your SVS Speakers, you may wish to consider Klipsch Speakers with the Heresy Speakers being a minimum entry level point. If you can afford the even more expensive ones, they could be worth an audition. I have some early '70's era Heresy's and really like them; they're all original, so they last. I was tickled to see your copy of Morrison Hotel standing up. Your record storage solutions are great. I really like the drawer cabinet. There is a lot to be said about your organization and keeping things clean and neat. I'm that way too, but I have too much stuff and I don't have a lot of space, so I use tall book case style racks for my lp's. I'm planning to move long distance within the next year, and I'm now worried about entrusting my record collection to movers. I'm thinking about which ones I will take with me personally, but I can't take them all. ✨✨✨I celebrated my birthday recently and boy did some great records from Acoustic Sounds come through. ✨✨✨ The highlights were 45 rpm versions of The Doors Morrison Hotel and LA Woman. I resisted them for so long due to their 45 rpm two record format. All I can say is that they're both stunning, especially Morrison Hotel. Now I'm thinking about buying some of the other The Doors 45 rpm titles. What's an audiophile to do? 👍💖🎸😎

    • @MelindaMurphy
      @MelindaMurphy  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there. I will keep those speakers in mind. I have heard alot about that brand and it's all good. ♥️🤗 I have all of the AP The Doors albums. They are all wonderful. Morrison's Hotel was the last one I needed so I finally bought it before it sells out again.
      I would hate to trust movers with my records. 😃 I think I would have to pack them and take them myself. Lol. That would be a big job. I hope you are moving to somewhere you really want to go. 🤗 Thank you and take care.

      @@MelindaMurphy Thank you for the B-day wishes, Melinda. I can see all the AP The Doors 45's being great if they were mastered from the original analog tapes, but I'm really wondering about their first album. I have a serious question for you. Is that first album really worth getting, since it was mastered from a "best copy" and not the original tapes? That question has been really nagging at me, because I truly love that first album by The Doors and would love to have an excellent sounding copy of it.

      @@jackwezesa1081 Some people consider Morrison Hotel to be The Doors' best album. I can't necessarily argue that subjective point, but I give their debut album a little more favor. Do you know if your copy of Morrison Hotel is a Monarch pressing and do you still have it?

    Sounds like great setup! I lost a great vintage setup with 2 turntables in a flood. I have been stuck with a 90s Fisher stereo with a 90s Sony turntable. It doesn't sound bad....... but yes, it is lacking that better quality sound. I also lost over 1,000 late 50s - 60s LPs. They were top shelf stuff, Rock, Blues, Southern Rock, Folk. All floated away........ Now on a fixed income I just started to slowly collect again. But I wll never be at the level I was at. It is still a great hobby to enjoy!

    Great video, you have a amazing system, I was using an old techniques stereo system with technique speakers. And wondered what it would be like if I purchased some nice Klipsch speakers, the difference was amazing. So then I thought I bet a new receiver would make a big difference, so I purchased a Marantz 5015. The difference was again amazing, so then I thought I bet a amplifier would just top this off. So I purchased the Marantz 7055, wow what a difference. So now the last piece is a turntable, I think I’m going to go with the Denon Dp300 that you had ,sounds like it was a nice turn table for the money. After that I’m gonna have to put the brakes on for a while🤣🤣

    Hi Melinda loved seeing your tour of your beautiful new stereo equipment, it makes my gear look so old and I guess it is because I’m still using 1970’s and ‘80’s Yamaha and Pioneer turntables the later being direct drive and did originally have a moving coil cartridge. I did buy a new Pioneer Phono Amp a few years ago to replace one that died but I’ve never been that happy with the sound on the new one. Hopefully one of these days like you I’ll get around to invest in some better equipment and get the best out of my vinyl.

    Kudos Melinda. All very good hi-fi upgrades. You have officially tumbled right down the rabbit hole so you should consider, as I’m sure you will, upgrading your speakers as your next upgrade. With that system upgraded speakers properly positions will really do it for you. Always remember your system is only as good as its weakest link. It’s easy to say you’re satisfied with what you have but we all know that there’s that little niggle wanting you to explore what else is out there. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing how you progress.!

      The problem is that you can always upgrade,but each time you do it costs more.Much more.Unless you are a billionaire you have to accept that the ultimate system is not achievable.Also even the best system can't give you natural sound.

    Hi Melinda, great video, thanks. Nothing wrong with having a large space to play your music as long as you have the grunt in your amp and decent sized speakers, both of which you have. The soft furnishings are great to reduce resonances in the room, and you could consider a nice matching rug to reduce some of the floor reflections. I also have to put up with a coffee table in my listening space, however, I just put a couple of cushions on it when I’m listening on my own.

    Very nice setup, Melinda! My stereo/vinyl “listening room” is also in my living room. I too have a wide open space living/dining/kitchen, so the living room is ideal for my setup. Especially when friends are over, but also for everyday when I’m making dinner, feeding the pets, etc. it’s my wind down spot at the end of the day. Drop the needle on a good record, have a beer at my island in the kitchen and chill. I wouldn’t want to shove my setup off in a room somewhere, that would defeat the purpose for me. Have a great day! Cheers

    Rega turntable is awesome. Ivor Tiefenbrun (Linn turntables) stated the turntable is the most important part of an LP based system - "if you don't get the information off the LP, it's lost. Garbage in - garbage out." Ever since I went to that approach, I have enjoyed vinyl more and you have one of the best turntables and cartridges on the market. Also lately, I have heard about people having problems with Denon Automatic Turntables - not so much sound as automatic feature develops a mind of its own and you can't override. You were smart to make that change.
