Cheers Melinda, There certainly is a lot to be cheerful about with your sound system. @@MelindaMurphy Thank you for the B-day wishes, Melinda. I can see all the AP The Doors 45's being great if they were mastered from the original analog tapes, but I'm really wondering about their first album. I have a serious question for you. Great video , Melinda ! Your dog looks so comfy sleeping in front of the fireplace :) It's cool seeing other music collectors listening setups . I eventually want to purchase a home that has a full basement . I want wood paneling and orange/red carpet like a lot of homes had in the late 70's and 80's . I want a speakeasy/bar . My grandparents had a home like this and so did my ex girlfriends Uncle who was a touring musician for Chuck Berry , Stephen Stills , Bo Diddley . I love that cozy set up .
Nice to see some new equipment! props to you on matching the room to your equipment as well. It is often overlooked and plays a central role in sound design.
Nice stuff. MC does make such a difference. Idea. If your MC preamp runs on 5v you can use a cell phone power bank to power it. You'll avoid line noise and switching distortion. A 20,000 mah will run for it for days. Great show
I almost bought an Ortofon blue but then I discover the Japanese cart company Nagaoka. They definitely have the best quality for the value from what I can hear. I bought my MP-200 over a year ago and I have no regrets. Its quite exciting to go through records you haven't heard in a while and hear the vocal and instrument separation that highlights new details you couldn't perceive before.
It's very exciting to hear the details in the music after doing some upgrades. ♥️ I've heard other people say great things about Nagaoka. Thank you and take care.

Hi Melinda, Congratulations on your purchases. That is wonderful. Happy listening. And I love your cabinet with the pull out record shelves. They are awesome. Stay well and take care
Love this video! Thank you for inviting us into your home. I mentioned this to you in a previous video, but I collect vintage Nippers. I have one of that version you have on the shelf.
Hi Melinda, loving the storage ideas there. That cabinet with the pull out drawers looks so cool and a great way to store your vinyl records. The lattice cabinet looks great too. Your dog looked so cute and cozy curled up asleep in front of the fireplace. Great video Melinda and thanks for sharing your great storage ideas. Take care.
Sounds like great setup! I lost a great vintage setup with 2 turntables in a flood. I have been stuck with a 90s Fisher stereo with a 90s Sony turntable. It doesn't sound bad....... but yes, it is lacking that better quality sound. I also lost over 1,000 late 50s - 60s LPs. They were top shelf stuff, Rock, Blues, Southern Rock, Folk. All floated away........ Now on a fixed income I just started to slowly collect again. But I wll never be at the level I was at. It is still a great hobby to enjoy!
@@MelindaMurphy I believe it . I'm just jealous . Still using my Sansui 771 and a Benjamin Miracord Elac 10H turntable . I'm old . Really enjoy your channel .
Hi Melinda, You've have a lovely home. Love the way you store your records. Part of my collection is in an Odyssey case and it allows the 'flip through' method of going through your albums which I prefer. Your stereo system is awesome! You not only collect but do it in style! Thanks for another great video! - Jose'
Great video, you have a amazing system, I was using an old techniques stereo system with technique speakers. And wondered what it would be like if I purchased some nice Klipsch speakers, the difference was amazing. So then I thought I bet a new receiver would make a big difference, so I purchased a Marantz 5015. The difference was again amazing, so then I thought I bet a amplifier would just top this off. So I purchased the Marantz 7055, wow what a difference. So now the last piece is a turntable, I think I’m going to go with the Denon Dp300 that you had ,sounds like it was a nice turn table for the money. After that I’m gonna have to put the brakes on for a while🤣🤣
That is a very good quality turntable. You won't regret buying it. It's easy to get sucked into the stereo equipment rabbit hole. Lol. Thank you and take care.
That's a cool turntable you have. I am a vintage guy with my Technics SL1200 MKII that is KAB upgraded. It has a Nagaoka MP 200 cartridge. The Technics was made in 1985. Never abused.
Hi Melinda. Thanks for showing us your new setup. Looks great. I would love to upgrade to that. For now I'll continue to enjoy my Dennon DP-300F. Like your storage too. Wish I had room to do that. I can dream.....
Hi Melinda Great video as always. I love the way you did the bookshelves. That was a great idea putting the record draws in there. Your stereo equipment is awesome. Love that turntable! Giving me lots of good ideas. And your piece you bought at furniture store very pretty. Have a great day! Hugs for Lucy🙂
Good point on sound quality, you don’t know what your missing until you hear it. We may not think we will be able to tell the difference but generally we do. So it is best I just stay away from any of that so I don’t spend more money lol. Nice cabinets, very functional. Hope you don’t get buried in ice
Another great video, Melinda. I really love the newest addition of the end table that you picked up to house your jazz records and box sets. Beautiful piece indeed. Have a great week. Billy-
Hi Melinda loved seeing your tour of your beautiful new stereo equipment, it makes my gear look so old and I guess it is because I’m still using 1970’s and ‘80’s Yamaha and Pioneer turntables the later being direct drive and did originally have a moving coil cartridge. I did buy a new Pioneer Phono Amp a few years ago to replace one that died but I’ve never been that happy with the sound on the new one. Hopefully one of these days like you I’ll get around to invest in some better equipment and get the best out of my vinyl. Love watching your videos.
@@MelindaMurphy Yes I guess it shows my age as I'm still running a huge pair of 1983 Pioneer floor speakers a 1998 Yamaha Cassette Deck, another 1975 Pioneer manual turntable and for some reason back in 2000 seeing that the age of cassettes was coming to an end I bought a Pioneer CD recorder complete with many boxes of special the special blank audio CD's which I have hardly ever used because MP3 came along soon after!
I have been following all of your growth with your system. Congratulations on all your upgrades. I myself have upgraded from old Dj turn table to a beautiful all white Rega P3.
I love your turntable! Maybe one day I can get one. After my daughter moved away we turned her bedroom into my music room. It’s a great hiding place for me. Love seeing your sweet baby dog hanging out with mom. Our dogs enjoy going into the music room with me. They curl up and sleep while I’m rocking out. I have to ask where did you get the cool table lamp that glitters? I must have one. Thanks Melinda for another great video. You got me back into vinyl and taught me how to safely store all my albums. You are my musical muse. Thank you so much! ❤️
Hi Melinda, that's a very nice setup! Like you said - you don't know what you're missing until you try different components... I suffered from a major case of "upgradetitis" the past few years and I finally settled down. It's a fun (and expensive) journey. I love how you store your records. I'm running out of space myself but in my case I need a bigger home. Thanks again!
It's pretty easy to get caught up in making upgrades. Lol. For now, I'm just going to enjoy what I have. It has been alot of fun and I can definitely tell a difference in the sound quality. Thank you and take care.
Really great equipment Melinda! And I love your storage solutions , thanks for the carpet / skid pad tip , that's a great idea! I'm going to use that in some of my wooden record bins to stop the sliding :)
Kudos Melinda. All very good hi-fi upgrades. You have officially tumbled right down the rabbit hole so you should consider, as I’m sure you will, upgrading your speakers as your next upgrade. With that system upgraded speakers properly positions will really do it for you. Always remember your system is only as good as its weakest link. It’s easy to say you’re satisfied with what you have but we all know that there’s that little niggle wanting you to explore what else is out there. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing how you progress.!
The problem is that you can always upgrade, but each time you do it costs more.Much more.Unless you are a billionaire you have to accept that the ultimate system is not achievable. Also even the best system can't give you natural sound.
Love your record shelves. Yes I love to show off my records, so mine are out in the open more, but It's not always the neatest way to show them. That cabinet with the lattice still shows them off and looks really nice. What a great idea!
Hi Melinda, great video, thanks. Nothing wrong with having a large space to play your music as long as you have the grunt in your amp and decent sized speakers, both of which you have. The soft furnishings are great to reduce resonances in the room, and you could consider a nice matching rug to reduce some of the floor reflections. I also have to put up with a coffee table in my listening space, however, I just put a couple of cushions on it when I’m listening on my own.
I'm with you. I bought new speakers at the start of the pandemic and now i wish i would have held off. I'm upgrading my record player soon and I think i'll need to make another speaker upgrade soon after.
Very nice setup, Melinda! My stereo/vinyl “listening room” is also in my living room. I too have a wide open space living/dining/kitchen, so the living room is ideal for my setup. Especially when friends are over, but also for everyday when I’m making dinner, feeding the pets, etc. it’s my wind down spot at the end of the day. Drop the needle on a good record, have a beer at my island in the kitchen and chill. I wouldn’t want to shove my setup off in a room somewhere, that would defeat the purpose for me. Have a great day! Cheers
You're exactly right. My set up is in the place that I will enjoy it most. It may hinder some of the sound quality but I get to enjoy it more being in the hub of the house. Thank you for sharing that with me. Take care. 🤗♥️
@@MelindaMurphy Oh my location doesn’t hinder My sound quality one bit! My friends call my living room “the sound lab”! It’s all around me. Sounds like a concert in my house. Speaker placement is key.
I think that higher end MM cartridges are fine, but MCs, once in that rabbit hole, are made to a generally higher quality. Lovely upgrades Melinda. 👍🏻 Gorgeous dog, he or she? 😋🐶
Makes perfect perfect sense to upgrade audio equipment, we invest so much in records that we owe it to ourselves to invest just as much into our equipment to enjoy that much better, I hope you are near a high end audio store where you can demo speakers when you are ready to upgrade those again, I’m sure you can trade yours in or sell at a decent price🤔👍🤘
Thanks for the great video Melinda. I enjoyed seeing your upgrades and am thinking of making some of my own. I also like your creative ways of storing your records. One thing I've discovered about collecting is that it doesn't take long to run out of space as there is a lot of great music out there! Best wishes.
Mel your setup looks great and I like how you have stored your vinyl standing vertically and not laying on top of each other, I’m happy with my turntable which is a jukebox e all in one hifi set from project my speakers are bookshelf style but have 50w subwoofers built in it also has, preamp , sound stage and stereo amp in the turntable Along with the ortofon om5e stylus good music deserves good equipment happy listening take care Sam …
Hi Melinda, I have a Rega Fono MC phono stage on my P8 and it’s superb. However, the aria phono stage would be more suited to your Atheta Cartridge… All the best from Liverpool England 🏴🇬🇧.. Great Video 👍😎
Thanks Melinda, You too.. Oh and I was very naughty yesterday, I purchased an Apheta 3 myself and it’s just superb in every way. All my ‘old’ vinyl sounds even better now and I’m smiling even more as you probably did when you got your P8 😎👍.. Keep Rockin’ !! P.S. I was in Liverpool today and myself and my Wife had a bit of spare time so we did a city tour and drove past some of the old Beatles haunts like the Cavern and a few old pubs so I’m having a vinyl Beatles night tonight 😎👍
Rega turntable is awesome. Ivor Tiefenbrun (Linn turntables) stated the turntable is the most important part of an LP based system - "if you don't get the information off the LP, it's lost. Garbage in - garbage out." Ever since I went to that approach, I have enjoyed vinyl more and you have one of the best turntables and cartridges on the market. Also lately, I have heard about people having problems with Denon Automatic Turntables - not so much sound as automatic feature develops a mind of its own and you can't override. You were smart to make that change.
Very, very nice, congratulations, I don't know what I envy more, your new equipment or your dog relaxing by the fire!

That custom cabinet/shelving unit is killer! And...shelf liner for the win! (Great idea!)
Thank you very much! 🤗♥️
Beautiful home & sweet system. Enjoy the music!
Thank you so much! 😃♥️
That sounds like a worthy goal! I hope you can make it happen. Thank you so much!
Melinda you are wonderful
Thank you! 🤗
Nice setup don't get caught up in the upgrade route just be happy enjoying your music 👍👍
That's exactly what I want to do. Thank you!!! I couldn't agree more. 😀
Nice to see some new equipment! props to you on matching the room to your equipment as well. It is often overlooked and plays a central role in sound design.
Thank you very much! 🤗♥️
Nice stuff. MC does make such a difference. Idea. If your MC preamp runs on 5v you can use a cell phone power bank to power it. You'll avoid line noise and switching distortion. A 20,000 mah will run for it for days. Great show
Thank you very much! I appreciate the information. 🤗♥️
😀Love the dog all cozy by the fire also✨
Me too! She's a sweet girl.♥️ Thank you and take care.
A new equipment turntable are fantastic it was a next century or generation are audio systems with a belt drive turntable with record needle records player that is nice 👍 the dial receiver and speakers are excellent phono adapter the music on vinyl itself sounds pretty very good sounds of Genre of music incredible Vinyl collection. I’m enjoy watching your video Melinda keep up the good work and keep doing your things.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it.🤗♥️ Take care.
It's all about the gear. Beautiful set up.
Thank you so much! 😃
Hi Melinda, Congratulations on your purchases. That is wonderful. Happy listening. And I love your cabinet with the pull out record shelves. They are awesome. Stay well and take care
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Love this video! Thank you for inviting us into your home. I mentioned this to you in a previous video, but I collect vintage Nippers. I have one of that version you have on the shelf.
I love those old Nippers. I bet your collection is really cool. I also have a vintage salt and pepper set that is Nipper and a Victrola. 🤗
Take care.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words. Our dog love our fireplace. 😍 Take care.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you find everything you are looking for. 🤗♥️
WOW!! Totally amazing setup,Melinda!! Oh Yeah!! Fantastic video indeed!!!
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
@@MelindaMurphy Welcome!
Thanks for sharing - looks awesome.
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
thanks for the tour, you have some nice gear there
Thank you very much! 🤗♥️
Fabulous set up . Must sound just like a CD player .
Haha!!! Even better if you can believe it.😃
@@MelindaMurphy I believe it . I'm just jealous . Still using my Sansui 771 and a Benjamin Miracord Elac 10H turntable . I'm old . Really enjoy your channel .
CD s are aweful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Melinda, You've have a lovely home. Love the way you store your records. Part of my collection is in an Odyssey case and it allows the 'flip through' method of going through your albums which I prefer. Your stereo system is awesome! You not only collect but do it in style! Thanks for another great video! - Jose'
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.♥️🤗
Excellent! Great listening area, and choice of equipment! Moving Magnet cartridges can be just as good as other principles!
I have heard differing opinions about magnet vs coil. There is no wrong answer. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Moving coils aren t the greatest trackers IMO!
Cute doggy, did I hear him snoring or was that sound from somewhere else? 🤣🤣🤣
Nice setup by the way! 👍
She does snore. Lol. I didn't realize you could hear her. 😳 She's a sweetie. Thank you so much!
Gorgeous furniture and great equipment ! Someday, I will get me a P8 !!! Thank you for sharing !
You will love your P8! 🤗 Thank you and take care.
Loved this vid. Cheers from Sweden.
Very nice storage solution.
Thank you so much! Cheers! 🤗♥️
Thanks for going over your system.
Thank you Rob!
That's a cool turntable you have. I am a vintage guy with my Technics SL1200 MKII that is KAB upgraded. It has a Nagaoka MP 200 cartridge. The Technics was made in 1985. Never abused.
I love the vintage stereo equipment. ♥️ I remember 1985 being a very good year. I can't believe how long ago it was. Thank you and take care.
Great video, Melinda!! Cool upgrades you made to your setup.
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Hi Melinda. Thanks for showing us your new setup. Looks great. I would love to upgrade to that. For now I'll continue to enjoy my Dennon DP-300F. Like your storage too. Wish I had room to do that. I can dream.....
I enjoyed my Denon turntable while I had it and I can still use it in another room if I want to.😀 Thank you and take care.
Congratulations Melinda on your new equipment.
Thank you! 🤗♥️
Melinda, what a fabulous set up for storing your records! I love the pull out drawers!! Great video!
Thank you! Happy Saturday!!! 😃
🙂👍, Elegant and polished. Love it. - Heather
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Hi Melinda
Great video as always.
I love the way you did the bookshelves. That was a great idea putting the record draws in there. Your stereo equipment is awesome. Love that turntable! Giving me lots of good ideas. And your piece you bought at furniture store very pretty.
Have a great day! Hugs for Lucy🙂
Thank you so much! I love the cabinets too. 🥰
Hi Melinda! Nice shirt!! I enjoyed your stereo tour video! I’m sure it sounds great!
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
@@MelindaMurphy You’re welcome!
I like the record storage area. Cool 🐕 !
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Outstanding audio and living room set up.
Thank you! ♥️🤗
Very nice setup Melinda, love the Def Leppard shirt and the cabinet that you have your jazz records in.
Thank you very much! 🤗♥️
I'm so happy for you, Melinda! Great inspiration for me too!
Thank you very much! 🤗♥️
awesome storage and turntable, thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I appreciate it. 🤗♥️
Very cool set up Melinda....I like the record storage ..that cabinet would look awesome in a VH paint scheme ...cool shirt too 👍
The Van Halen logo would look very cool on a cabinet like this in a music room. 😎 Thank you and take care.
Good point on sound quality, you don’t know what your missing until you hear it. We may not think we will be able to tell the difference but generally we do. So it is best I just stay away from any of that so I don’t spend more money lol. Nice cabinets, very functional. Hope you don’t get buried in ice
I need to stay away and just enjoy what I have now. I'm getting alot of tempting suggestions though.🤗 Thank you and stay warm.
Another great video, Melinda. I really love the newest addition of the end table that you picked up to house your jazz records and box sets. Beautiful piece indeed. Have a great week. Billy-
Hey Billy! It's so good to hear from you! I hope Tara has recovered from her surgery. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy thanks for thinking of her. She’s getting better with each day.
Never underestimate the "cool" factor of vintage equipment. 😎♥️ Thank you for the kind comments. Take care.
The Rega turntables are great. Congrats on your new P3 and thank you for your kind words. Take care.
Wonderful setup you have. Also I wish I was as organized as you. But, I kind of know where my records are. Kind of…
Lol.
The dog is so cute sleeping in front of the fireplace
Thank you! That's my sweet little Lucy. 🥰
That's a great place for a music room to go. My daughter and her husband still comes home for visits so we keep her room for them. Take care.
That lamp looks like the glitter candle holder I saw at Bath & Body Works.
Another incredible video!!!!! Awesome as always
Thank you! 🤗
Really nice stereo equipment you have. Also love your storage for your records and love your Def Leppard shirt too.
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Thank you! Have a great weekend!
Thank you! The speakers are probably the weak link and I may do an upgrade someday. For now, I will just enjoy what I have. Take care.
The problem is that you can always upgrade, but each time you do it costs more.Much more.Unless you are a billionaire you have to accept that the ultimate system is not achievable. Also even the best system can't give you natural sound.
Hence the rabbit hole
I love the setup very nice props to you
Thank you so much! 🤗♥️
Love your record shelves. Yes I love to show off my records, so mine are out in the open more, but It's not always the neatest way to show them. That cabinet with the lattice still shows them off and looks really nice. What a great idea!
Thank you! If I had a designated music room, I would have my records out on display.♥️ Take care.
Awesome setup 👏
Thank you! 🤗♥️
Thank you! I had to get rid of my rug because it looked worn out. As soon as I see a new rug that I really like, I will get one. Take care.
I'm with you. I bought new speakers at the start of the pandemic and now i wish i would have held off. I'm upgrading my record player soon and I think i'll need to make another speaker upgrade soon after.
Yeah! I wish I had bought my turntable first. Oh well. I'm content for now. Thank you and take care.
Nice setup Melinda, and a British turntable. Cool 😎
Yep! Thank you so much!
Gorgeous dog, he or she? 😋🐶
Thank you very much! My sweet dog is a girl named Lucy. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
When the time comes, I hope I can listen to some demo speakers before I buy again. Thank you and take care.
Thanks for the great video Melinda. I enjoyed seeing your upgrades and am thinking of making some of my own. I also like your creative ways of storing your records. One thing I've discovered about collecting is that it doesn't take long to run out of space as there is a lot of great music out there! Best wishes.
I agree! Space is a real issue. Thank you for your kind words and best wishes for the upgrades you make in the future. Take care.
It's sounds like you have a wonderful set up as well. Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda, I have a Rega Fono MC phono stage on my P8 and it’s superb. However, the aria phono stage would be more suited to your Atheta Cartridge… All the best from Liverpool England 🏴🇬🇧.. Great Video 👍😎
Thank you! Have a great weekend! 😃
Awesome equipment and setup! I’m looking forward to your Van Halen shrine after you get all the Van Halen MOFI One-Steps!!
I am more than excited to get that One Step Van Halen!!! 😃♥️ Thank you!
Thank you! I love what you said about the turntable. That's very true. I'm very happy with the P8. Take care.
