    I mean, I'm sure it's very easy to be "fearless" about walking around naked when you have a body such as yours.

    This...Was...So...Fucking...Perfect.
    Your mind, Davey, is simply as beautiful as your body is.
    Having people write on your body what they fear...Walk through the streets showing all of the fears people have, going to your home, and washing all of the fears off of you?...The perfect, poetic message you send here is just...HNNNNG I GOTTA SQUEE OUT LOUD FOR THIS!
    You're the kind a guy I wish I had the nerve to ask out on a date, but don't dare to cause he's like leagues above me in both looks and kind heartedness :(

    I was reluctant to write this post because I am in disagreement with several other people who have posted favoring this video.
    In my opinion, what you've shown, Davey, is the majority of your body, an immense lack of discretion and that you are capable of performing in a commercial for Aussie Bum underwear.
    One does not necessarily have to be fearless to be on public display while dressed inappropriately in nothing more than a pair of underwear. What is necessary for the person showing his body in such a situation is the lack of a virtue known as modesty and the lack of a discretion so as to know when one should practice this type of modesty.
    Don't misunderstand, Davey, I am not a "prude". Someone being naked or nearly naked in an appropriate setting is perfectly fine in my opinion. An appropriate setting, by way of example, would be a situation during which everyone who is involved would be in agreement about the appropriate nudity or near nudity such as a locker room or a nudist colony.
    In my opinion, the offense you've committed as revealed in this video is forcing the site of your nearly naked body, in a public environment, upon unsuspecting persons who may not wish to view your body. It should not be the responsibility of those unsuspecting persons to turn their eyes away to avoid seeing your body but rather it should be and indeed is your responsibility to dress and act appropriately in a public situation.
    So there is no misunderstanding, I will state that my comment is not about and has nothing to do with your state of dress or undress (as the case may be) as you appear in your UA-cam videos. People who view your UA-cam videos do so willingly and most probably expect you to reveal your body at least to some degree. My comment has to do with a defense of those who were unsuspecting and perhaps unwilling participants in this indiscreet and inappropriate display of your body at the location where the filming of this video took place, the very public streets of New York City.

    • @TheJazzyVaudevillian
      @TheJazzyVaudevillian 10 років тому +1

      debs K,
      It will be necessary for us to agree to disagree. You are right in that this society deems certain appropriate and acceptable places for certain states of dress or undress. As you stated, those same states of dress and undress would be unacceptable and inappropriate in other places and situations.
      I have no doubt that there were some "willing participants" but I can well imagine there were also those who were not shown in the video who were probably annoyed if not disgusted by the site of a fully grown man walking around on a public and highly populated street wearing only his underwear. He was not on a beach, he was on main public street where most people in our society would not be accepting of a mostly naked person walking among them.
      In my opinion, Davey looked ridiculous in this situation regardless of his level of physical fitness.

      Paul's comments and questions So, you're saying that if a few people disapprove of something that it is wrong? The few people that disapprove can choose not to participate and can continue on with their day like any normal person would or should do. Davey was doing for a cause, which should be obvious in this video. But you saying what he is doing is Wrong? I would think even the straightest of straight people would at least appreciate the thing he is doing rather than complain about it like what Davey was doing was inherently wrong, which it was not. I'm sure if the people of New York had a issue with it they would tell someone about it and the NYPD would be on his tail in a nanosecond. But obviously this was not the case. Whoever has a problem with it has no reason to have a problem with it. The sillyness that society is against it as a whole, NO. This was someone who was showing everyone that they can express that people can face their fears enough to write them on another human being, do you not think that this was something of value more than the people who are against it? Furthermore, this entire "revealing body" thing is really ridiculous. Everyone should see the human body as beautiful, no matter how odd it is to see someone with minimal clothing, since that is the way humans were meant to be. You don't see dogs walking around complaining about the others lack of clothing. Even if they can't talk they would avoid them. But no, they have the sense that us humans don't have, the sense that the body of our own species should not put off anyone. Just like how a dog with one of those little shirts on doesn't avoid another one wearing nothing. I hope that nobody found this wrong, because that would be a literal disgrace the someone could go against, for one the cause this man was exercising, and two the human body its self should not be something that would put off people, should it? Most people have enough sense to appreciate what Davey is doing here and those who don't can just not participate in the thing that they do not like or can not accept.

    • @TheJazzyVaudevillian
      @TheJazzyVaudevillian 10 років тому +2

      I highly doubt that it was only a few people who, when walking by, disapproved of Davey's highly inappropriate lack of clothing and behavior.
      I never used the word "wrong", you did. What I wrote was, in essence, Davey revealing his mostly naked body was inappropriate for his surroundings. Had he been on a beach or somewhere else appropriate for his state of dress or lack thereof, I probably would have never made any comment.
      In my opinion, Davey's lack of clothing and people drawing on his body made him look foolish and very undignified. There were two probable causes for this situation. One of those probable causes was exhibitionism and the other probable cause was to advertise Aussie Bum underwear.
      I think of those people who were out on the town (the night of the filming of the video), perhaps with their families, who were forced to not only divert their own eyes but also divert the eyes of their children away from Davey's exhibitionism. As I wrote previously, the problem, in my opinion, was that Davey's lack of dress was very much unexpected for the surroundings. I'm sure there were many people who were unwilling participants and who would have never agreed to participate in seeing Davey in his underwear if they had been warned about his lack of dress ahead of time.
      I believe I've made my opinion quite clear. I have nothing further to say on this subject.

    • @Claytonface
      @Claytonface 10 років тому +7

      Paul's comments and questions Maybe you should have a read of "The Bias Against Creativity: Why People Desire But Reject Creative Ideas" by Jennifer Mueller (UPenn Wharton), Shimul Melwani (UNC) and Jack A. Goncalo (Cornell), they found that the vast majority of people (ie, pretty much everyone) has an unconscious bias against creative ideas that works to ignore and reject creative ideas that fall outside of our comfort zones.
      I could use your own argument on your own comments? None of us want to see them, but they are basically forced upon us - unless we look away?
      This is performance art, even if it was sponsored/for a commercial. Don't appreciate the art? Then get the fuck outta here ;o

    • @TheJazzyVaudevillian
      @TheJazzyVaudevillian 10 років тому +1

      Claytonface,
      I am responding on this topic one last time but only because I want to defend a particular type of artist, the Performance Artist. I have seen several performance artists of different types over the years. I don't mean to be unkind but to call the situation shown in this video "Performance Art" is not only ridiculous but also an insult to Performance Artists.
      I suppose to some degree the drawings people were applying to Davey's body could be very loosely described as "Art" but, in my opinion, in no way that I can discern or imagine could what Davey was doing be described as any type of artistic endeavour or performance. I would label what Davey was doing as self satisfying exhibitionism and as highly inappropriate.
      There was no stage or even so much as an area designated as a stage. There was no "artistic performance". There was only a guy walking around in New York City in a pair of underwear with smeared paint all over his body.
      Davey has my admiration for maintaining his excellent physical fitness but regardless of his degree of physical fitness and prowess, subjecting the unsuspecting public on the streets of a major city to his mostly naked body is, once again, very inappropriate and inconsiderate.
      Had Davey actually been involved in a legitimate performance on a stage in front of an audience, I would have never made a disparaging comment because the audience members would have willingly chosen to be at that performance.
      This is definitely my final comment on this subject.

    This is one of the most beautiful social experiments I've seen a youtuber do. Hats off to you Davey.
    Sidenote: This is EXACTLY the reason why I want to move to New York and America in general. People there are so much more open-minded, accepting and will participate in something they believe in. Here in the UK, I doubt this would work very much. People would just walk on by and just stare blankly.

    That was amazing! And since I'm Christian I could really see a relation there. Jesus washes our sins away. And this was a wonderful metaphor of washing people's fears away. I'm not sure if anyone else interpreted this way, but I just thought it was a cool relation.

    Hi Davey... My name is Luis, I'm a 25 year old pansexual-queer-half drag from Puerto Rico and I must say... THIS VIDEO MADE ME VERY EMOTIONAL! It made me cry. Just watching you washing off their fears was too much for me to handle. I have spent two nights watching your videos and I must say "you are something!" You touched my warm side and that is something not many can do via UA-cam. I wish you come to the island and enjoy out Caribbean paradise if you have not. Be safe and God bless you!

    First time to comment Davey...but I had to! I would be WICKEDLY AFRAID to do what you just did (because my body stinks), but the message is profound. Wash away your fears!!! Thanks for doing this.

    I don't think it is a stupid thing to fear. Many people fear death and no one knows for sure what, if anything happens when we die so it seems like a logical fear to me.

    I dont know if it's because of the song or cuz of the bravery you showed, but it almost brought a little tear to my eyes. :') For a long time, I have been insecure about my skinny body, my teeth, my face, etc. But thanks to your videos for making me believe in myself.
