Ann Lu Got back from Taiwan on Friday and I did make it to Houtong. Totally worth the trip even though it was a cloudy day and started raining. I almost got trapped because of the last cat I met. I was sitting in the gazebo under the bridge and by the river when a calico decided to sit on my lap not once, but twice. It was getting dark and the rain was picking up, but having a warm cat purring on your lap made it almost impossible to want to leave.

No sadly. I'm back in Korea at work for a pointless week and a half before the kids go back on vacation again until March. :/ I've got a few other videos from the trip to upload on here. I went to Jiufen but it was pouring that day. It was still crowded though. The tea house was lovely and I learned why Alishan oolong tea is revered.
I just went to Houtong! It was slightly rainy though, so not as many cats were out and about although there were quite a few. Were you able to get to all of those places by walking? Because of the rain we didn't get to explore too much, just the coal mine and the cat village.

Houtong is so peaceful to cats! and they are not avoid the people who coming go closer a cat. I was have been yesterday!! nice video :)and can I ask a BGM's name in this video??
Ann, did you go to from Houtong to Jinguashi? Was it via taxi? If so, what was the approximate cost? We are thinking of doing a similar trip but from Houtong to Jiufen via Xiaotzukeng Old Trail; however, if the weather is bad, we'll need other plans!
