It is very sad and heartbreaking to see how far the cruel and arrogance of this government has gone. But also there is something which is not right somewhere. One of the biggest mistakes that the public is making is to declare that all power belong to them. No wonder why the Heavenly Father will never hear their cry. Kaka thanks for your analysis but remember IMF can't impose conditions on America,UK,EU because they it they don't take nor need to take money from IMF but rather use their excess liquidity to loan out to poor countries with attached conditions, It's purely a matter of choice to go for loans from IMF not every poor country does even Kibaki and Ushuru went for alternative sources like international syndicates,China etc whose loan conditions are a bit relaxed
They will now give more loans to reconstruct on the damages.

Your point is well taken about the IMF. However Kenyan politicians are to blame and not the IMF. How about the loans they took from the Chinese and other lenders who also need their money back right now? Your argument is like saying that "the devil (IMF) made the politicians to apply for the loans." At the end of the day, the buck ends at the state house. The take home lesson for African countries is : - Stop the culture of corruption. Wanainchi are not your cash cow.
When Israel was in their development process, according to Kissinger (not sure it was him), they were given below market rate loans on top of all the aid they get from America. But Ruto has been going around saying that the loan rates given to Africa should be fairer while still amassing the unfair loans before acquiring any fairness in the loans. Israel, and even Europe after their world wars, did not have to ask for fairness. They even got a lot of grants, meaning money they did not have to pay back. Why are we still dealing with people who know what fairness is but never apply it to us?

As usual Kaka, you have given a very interesting analysis of thecurrentsituation in Kenya. I am hoping that there is a part two of this video, since you have only dealt with one side of the equation: the IMF. But how did Kenya get to the stage where it was forced to go to the IMF?
The IMF is a lender of last resort. It comes into focus when a country is in very dire need of money to keep itself afloat. And traditionally the money comes with VERY adverse Preconditions. Particularly so for the poor and the vulnerable.
It's true that the COVID-19 pandemic of a few years ago, wreaked havoc on countries around the world and Kenya is no exception.
The response to the Pandemic called for a cautious approach to spending the loans etc that were acquired before AND during the pandemic.
Progressive leaders had to educate their people, take them into their confidence and inform them of the sacrifices needed, to survive in such an environment.
The sacrifices HAD TO BE ACROSS THE BOARD. BUT, policies also had to be put in place to shelter the poor from the fall-out from these measures: A safety net as it were: a freeze or even the removal of taxes on certain items to protect the poor.
However, if during all of this, certain sections of the society are not evenly bearing the burden of the restraint then civil unrest would be inevitable.
This seems to be where Kenya is at this juncture.
Leaders in this situation must be sensitive. If they engage in excessive conspicuous consumption civil uprisings will be unavoidable! People are not fools.
Luckily so far for Kenya, the movement that has emerged out of this morass has been peaceful, well informed and educated.
Kenyan political leaders still have the opportunity to step back from the brink of a precipice!
They have made the first move by scrapping the draconian Finance Bill.
Next they will have to drastically cut excessive wastage.
Halt misuse of public funds. Immediately put systems of accountability in place.
The international vultures are already waiting in the wings to re-colonise and destroy Kenya.
The IMF preconditions for the loans will be the first step towards that destruction.
Another African country dragged through the mud is too painful to fathom.
There's absolutely no need for repressive measures!

Austerity measures should include a cut in ministries from 22 to 10. Reduce Govt operational and maintenance by 15%, Reduce NCDF and country govts quotas back to 300 B. Give COUNTY governors targets on amount to submit to treasury and generally reduce wastage through Travel, seminars in hotels, foreign trips, DSAs , and lastly increase budget allocations to judiciary ,health and education. Give Audit general powers to prosecute misuse of tax money. Revive all corruption cases above 50M . Repossess all property bought through proceeds of un-explained monies.
