I mean one of the things promised before they put HoTS on maintenance mode was an editor for custom games. Wouldn't it be something if they actually released it. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much work to port things since as you said there are some things that just don't translate to the SC2 editor.
You could do what would make this work. A standard moba map, the same as the DOTA and LOL map.
@@hilelman Who know, perhaps in the future they could even introduce a new customization mechanic. No necessarily items but something that allows more builds and so better replayability.
Blizzard should just hire you as the HoTS development team, such talent and passion is rare.
But no1 wants to work under Blizz
Their logic is simple. If you hire a person with talent and motivation where can you make more money out of that? Place him a game that makes the most money. It will never go to Hots, Warcraft 3 or Starcraft 2.
Blizzard has a record for disregarding modders and losing tons of money in the process.
Activision is about games like Candy Crush now thanks to Bobby Kotick. It'll take decades to wipe his skidmarks from gaming's furniture.

HotS is so good. Hopefully Blizzard takes notice and starts supporting the game again.

Overwatch had been dead for 2 years until they started updating again. And despite horrible monetization changes, the amount of new content is pretty good I think.
Longtime hots player here, very excited to give this a try! Awesome to see people who are passionate about HotS and making their own thing with it.
This to me came completely from left field, but it's easy to see the talent and passion put into it. It looks very interesting, and something I'll definitely check out. I only hope there will be enough donations to keep development going.

This is sooo wild! And the poetry of the WC3 DotA inspiring a genre of games, including HotS, which in turn is now becoming a SC2 mod is also not lost on me

It started with the map Aeons of Strife from StarCraft, which evolved into another map, DotA in WarCraft, which became its own genre of games and made the game HotS, which now finds a new home, back in StarCraft.

Selendis and some of the talents look broken ah but I'm hopeful for a potential of Blizzard hiring the creators of the project, paying them the wage they pay their current HotS team and letting them do anything they want with the game. Overall, this project is a testament to the group's coding skills, passion and dedication. Phenomenal job, you bring us hope for the revival of our beloved game.
This is what I am hoping for too. But I’ll still join their patron :/

Lol blizz employees are payed 30%+ under industry standard they are treated better and Paid better by Amazon lol blizz grinds people to dust then cuts their dried up dust pile into the 4 winds

I hope it will do well. I was sad when Blizzard stopped any development on HotS, but this is another example of mod maker passion and showcases again how powerful the SC2 editor actually is.

Bright wing used to have envenom for 700 damage. In general old hots supports were quite deadly, and could even contest brawlers at long periods of dueling, and that was beautiful.
Still are quite deadly, if a bit more situationally. Old splitshot Tyrande was a bit ridiculous in 1v1 or even 2v1 scenarios, a lot of the time you couldn't really outpace her heal, but she sure could keep up with your damage somehow. And then there's Deckard who can still deliver shocking amounts of AoE damage if you build right
Deadly supports led to the 2-3+ support meta: replace assassins with supports, and win.
@@adamnevraumont4027 Mayhaps, but there used to be imbalanced things on half everyone, say Jaina had sprint. And you could get around a lot of things with these surging absurd power levels.
HOTS was way more interesting and fun before they started changing everyone. Balance is prolly better now, slightly, but they traded away most of what made different heroes special. Everything just became about the team fight instead of there being many ways to beat the other team and if you can't team fight or if it isnt a team fight talent its way less valuable now. A well played Abathur used to be a nightmare, but they nerfed lane pushes and nerfed abathur until he's just a glorified clone bot. Last Pick Murky was one of the high points of all of HOTS allowing a surprise pick by the US to actually win a major tournament. But they nerfed down him too. The Lost Vikings doing proper soak used to be something you had to counterplay well, but their team also had to make sure to play very careful. But they nerfed that down too.
I would gladly play the more "imbalanced" but far more unique version of HOTS back then over what its become today. Even if I had to deal with occasional nonsense like the promote meta lol.
HotS had bad balance philosophy, they played it safe. Mad heroes more bland to make it more balanced.
Like by no means Tyrande was even properly OP but build was killed completely.
Though overall they tried mimic LoL balance style too much IMHO, it made game less interesting to play in the long run. Tunning down interesting aspects of the game is easy way to balance, it doesn't require much of an imagination. But it makes for bleak gameplay.

sadly any mod that is created in blizzard game is theirs, they dont want to have another dota2 moment on their hands again

It's always bittersweet to see such an amazing project because big companies are just halfbaking and abandoning their games in the hope that passionate fans take it upon themselves and do the work necessary. In an ideal world this team would be hired to work for Blizzard on their game as an independent studio. I wish you the best success.
Passion is the hardest currency. You can not buy it or force it. Iplayed Hots since it came out and it makes me so happy to see that the game is not dead !

In HOTS we had an angel bruiser, an angel tank, and an angel healer. We never got that see that angels support/utility. I would love to see what you guys could do with that.
