Wow! Your Dad provided some interesting insight into dealing with the nuts and bolts and emotions of closing a 40 year business. What a wise man. Can see him enjoying Tour de France too with his cycling interest. Once he's settled I could see an opening for doing small social cycling tours with Chateau level B&B. You're providing wonderful content, wishing you all every success.
And he and Penelope are getting stuck in straight away into learning the language. The best thing to do when moving to any country. I'm francophone by birth, but they do count funny in France..."Quatre-vingt-dix? Nonante mes amis, nonante" :P
I’m commenting before the end of the video to say that your dads view of his day moved me to tears. I’m so excited for him and his new adventures! I hope it’s so much more than he could possibly dream!
I think this man will have abit of trouble slowing down with career change. It took me 5 mo to quit thinking of email, Todos. Phone calls. I used to wake up in a panic but I did get over it!@
Your dad perfectly summed up the bittersweetness that comes from closing down one life and starting another. Our jobs are often a large part of our identity especially if we own and run a business. So it is fantastic that he now has a new identity a new purpose- Lord of the Chateau 😊.
I love seeing your dad’s work. I happen to be an astronomy fan as well as a fan of your channel. I hope he sets up his own little observatory at the chateau. ❤️
"The good news is, I have a chateau to visit!" I was waiting for this. :) I just retired, and there is no doubt about it, the change is never going to be easy. But, everyone who lives long enough will have to say goodbye to many, many important parts of their former life. Change comes in life whether we stay or leave- no matter where we live. If we are willing to go on some adventures in life, we may grow in the most unexpected ways.
What a beautiful video of your whole family reuniting in France after such a long time. I had tears and joy for your father leaving his work and life in San Diego, your sister leaving all her friends. But, so excited for the family to finally be together. Sounds like a wonderful life!
Seeing your dog sitting at the door and looking briefly up and then seeing the door handle turned vertically - it seems our household has the exact same lovely issues ❤️ I have watched you from your first video of the chateau as I also wanted to move to France 🇫🇷 ❤ but then purchased a place in Germany instead - it's beautiful what you have done so far!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love your dad he is amazing! His words made me tear up! Cheers to you all for a very beautiful and successful life in France !! I hope your dad finds some new exciting roads that beckon him. Love your family and channel. ❤️
That was a superb video!! I have moved alot in my life and I can share the emotions of leaving and the joys of arriving. You all did a wonderful job of picking the right bits to share. Thank you for sharing such a personal journey.
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. You really took us on the journey of Robert's and Penelope's final days in San Diego, sharing some of the depth of the emotions, especially Robert's retirement and saying goodbye to lifelong friends. Really touching and something I have not seen shared so well. Looking forward to all the special gifts that Robert will add to the chateau as he reunites with all his ladies. I'm sure that biking in the French countryside with be glorious.
I'm so happy for all of you! My husband retired at the end of 2021. It's been an adjustment that we have had to work through. I'm sure you all will feel some of the same things we did. Wishing you nothing buy success and happiness!
The wife of a chap that I worked with said to me once that she had a plaque on the wall that said something like "Retirement: Twice as much husband, half as much income" :P
I've grown so fond of your family, Your dad is just so cool 🌌🪐I love the way he talks, he is always so calm. It was really touching hearing his best friend saying ..No I'm not ok with this, no one wants to say goodbye to their friends. And when he was talking about riding his bike for the last time in San Diego. 💔 I wish all of you the very best life could possibly bring 🌈✨Love your hair Penelope 🧡💛💚💙 🏰 The Chateau looks absolutely gorgeous and warm and comfortable
Such a genuine and heartfelt episode. Dad is such an inspiration for those of us that need to change and embrace the joy and wonder of life. Blessings to you all...
So happy to see your family is back together again. One thing about the Chateau you have plenty of space for individual privacy. Your Chateau looks like such a wonderful holiday experience. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Lots of admiration to all of you for taking this important step in all your lives and what you had to do to arrive at this point in your collective lives.
The family approaches changes with such careful thought, care, planning and very little chaos. You are all amazing, and are so careful about having gentle landings and transitions. So nice to see you all together. Your dad is a very gentle, sensitive, intelligent and articulate man. The whole family follows suit - lovely people. Enjoy the togetherness as spring unfolds with new life. Wonderful video. I love your mother's name, Maruca. I had an aunt who we called Maruja - such similarity. Look forward to the next visit !
I was moved to tears to see you mum and dad reunited, what a wonderful video this has been. The very best for your Chateau Life season, you are going to have such a brilliant year ahead x
I never comment on anything, but this warrants a comment. Your father represents that most amazing person on the planet and serves as an example for all. Happy retirement, enjoy your future! 🎉❤😊
What stands out amongst the excitement and challenges of moving is the love between you.. love between parents & children, siblings, partners, friends and of course the love of your amazing border collie!! I can imagine the star gazing will be so beautiful from your chateau, as will your new life be full of joy, together! COVID separated us all so much from loved ones and it brought tears to my eyes seeing you reunited. I hope we get to visit you one day!
Your dad had some very wise and emotional words. Many happy wishes on to him on his retirement. It is not easy for you all to do this. I hope France is great for you all. It looks good so far.
I was so emotional when your mom and dad finally got to see each other! Oh my goodness! What an epic journey you all have been on! I just love your videos! I know life isn’t perfect, but your Château and your personalities are so relaxing, Artistic, caring, and inviting. I look forward to visiting one day! Keep those videos coming! I love it! And now to live your lives as a complete family! Congratulations!
Your fathers words brought me to tears. Thank you so much for sharing that journey with us. It was so wonderful to see your dad and your sister enjoying their new home.
You all had me in tears. Good tears. I retired in 2020 and don't regret it although there was some mental adjusting I had to do. This is a beginning of something new and wonderful to be enjoyed. Love your videos as well you and your family! Very interesting, accomplished people.
This was a fabulous video. It's great to see strong women doing terrific things. The music playing in the house when your father had arrived is wonderful. Can you please tell me what it was?
I love the map with the zooming sounds! And everything else. So glad for you that the family is reunited. Good job to Papa and Penelope for closing down the business and house. Good job Julia, Carolina, and Maruca making special preparations for the arrival.
Wow, just wow. I've been following you from the very beginning and always love your content but this is my favorite. What a beautiful recap of the last year and the journey that your family has been on together. I teared up a few times as the family was brought together. Much love and good wishes as you embark on this next phase of your lives. I hope you'll keep bringing us along!
I always feel so sad when your videos are over! I felt joy, love, and laughter within this video! What a wonderful job! I am so glad your family is all together and back in France! I can't imagine living in another country. I have always dreamed about it! Keep up the great job and I wish all of you the most success in all you do!
@@fredscott1199 Same here . Could watch for hours & hours because the love, authenticity and total lack of ego and artificial hype within this beautiful family is so heartwarming . Each member is so grounded, talented, warm and inviting . What a truly inspiring & impressive group of beautiful people ... the future of this incredible chateau is in perfect hands . Wise, centred , caring philosophers, scientists, poets and artists with a true appreciation for the continuum of history . Love how humble Robert mentions his work has also been for the betterment of humanity .. So in awe of these intelligent , genuine souls . The warmth of “ HOME & HEARTH ” is evident in the inviting decor of each shot and the contented cat & loyal Troubador are testament to the spirit of the owners . A new era begins & I feel privileged to be able to enjoy
What a gorgeous homecoming! The chateau in all of its stunning furnishings looks like you have always lived there- amazing job! I love your dad - what a kind soul! ❤
Greetings to all and happy to see the family reconnecting at the magnificent Puy Vidal! Many blessings as you all adjust and settle into family and individual rhythms.
Just wanted to add that I have a lot of anxiety sometimes and your videos make me feel so happy and calm. I watch them over and over, sometimes I just listen and fall asleep. Then other times I closely watch what's going on. I think I've watched this video at least 20 times ❤
Really enjoyed today! Having the family all back together is so comforting for everyone. It’s always like a body part is missing when one of the members is missing. I can’t imagine 9 months. Happy everyone is together and life is much improved because of it. Enjoyed today! 🥰
Wow, your Dad's thoughts brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine how he felt closing such a huge chapter in his life and moving on to the next. Much luck to all of you.
Watching this video and just had to respond to your fathers beautiful poetic embrace of life’s changes - it made me emotional. So lovely to stay together as a family and move forward together under a roof.!
Just a wonderful journey to follow. Who would of known how it would it turn out? Stephanie helping by viewing and showing , via youtube etc. Creativity during Covid 19 restrictions. Your bravery to go for the gusto the entire family.Bon Chance in the years to come. For sure it will be years to come. You all have committed to the details to make your dream come true.
This was a very emotive beautiful vlog. It felt as if your father had achieved his dreams and was now passing the baton on to allow you to achieve yours. It really summed up a beautiful life and your father's words were wonderful. Seeing you all reunited was lovely. I really enjoy watching your vlogs and wish you every success with the summer.
This is the video I've been waiting for! I was smiling the whole time! It's so joyful to see you reunited and it will be so fun to be able to rediscover everything through your dad's eyes. His tribute to his departure was very poignant. He is so well spoken - he's someone I would love to sit down and have a conversation with. Just a friendly note: the edits in the opening were....a lot. I felt like I was having a seizure! 😄
I am not planning to relocate overseas but nevertheless I appreciate a great deal how you go into all the logistics- financial, practical and emotional. It’s very interesting for useful..
I appreciate hearing your family members' perspectives and reflections about language learning, immigration, long distance, admin and life in general. It's not "just" moving overseas. Sending love from Aoteaora New Zealand :) xx Xenia
P.S. I looked at your website and we are hoping to book the chateau experience for our honeymoon next year 🥰 we’re a German/Norwegian + California/Kiwi couple who also love travel, film-making and photography and have been following along ever since Stephanie viewed the chateau for you. Couldn’t think of a better way to invest our honeymoon fund ✨
Hi dear family, kudos for your stunning work on this chateau. I've visited your beautiful web site and notice a tiny mistake on your film production page: septième art (the grave accent is on the e before the m, not on the e after the s). I wish you success in your business and a long and happy life in your chateau.
I found this episode very moving, it brought back many feelings I had when I moved here to France nearly twenty years ago. Wishing you all the happiness on your onward journey of discovery. Bonne Chance.
It has been so interesting observing your family do this! We lived in LJ and moved to Maine four years ago. Not close to what you’ve dealt with but I have an idea, as we had wanted to relocate to England. Bravo to you and all you’ve done to make this happen. And special credit to your dad whose words about this transition are monumental. Looking forward to all of what you share, and I hope it continues. Best to al of you!
Hey Phil, I'm here in Kansas. HA! Actually agree, I was born here but left for New Jersey when I was 20 to work Met a wonderful Italian guy and his family and was married for 52 years. I lost my Jim 4 years ago and he wanted me to be back in KS with my large family and although I love them I recall why I wanted to leave KS. We lived 15 min. outside NYC for 30 years and then retired to the Jersey shore. I LOVED NJ AND MY BIG ITALIAN FAMILY AND LIVING AT THE SHORE 5 MIN. FROM THE OCEAN. Glad your family is complete again. And my Dad was a Bob!❤❤❤❤❤😘
Your father’s reflections on his move to France and his former business life were heart warming. We all experience change throughout our lives and the way we meet these challenges determines our personal growth and love for life and family. I wish Robert and Penelope a rewarding new life in France. Wishing you all a happy transition to your family life in France and a successful business season! 👏🏻👏🏻💕💕
Ahem!!! Omaha here. We have LOTS of lovely hills. We also have a symphony, opera, much professional and community theatre, a well known music scene, and world-class museum and zoo. Of course, France is a greater adventure than moving to another part of the USA. 😂I lived in the UK for a while and Europe has much more human history, intriguing architecture, and so many languages. I hope Bob (Dad) enjoys the wonders of Europe as much as you and I do! 💖
Wow, what a beautiful video. I could feel your dad’s emotions leaving so much behind but his outlook is wonderful as he starts this new chapter, as you all begin this very exciting journey together. I wish you all happiness, prosperity, contentment, laughter, serenity and lots of joy. xx
This was the most heartfelt reunion. Thank you for sharing such a private special time. I am a similar age to your mum and understand her commitments to her family. I cant wait to visit.
The best vlog so far! So professional and also heartfelt. I felt weepy listening to Bob speak about his mix of emotions, the winding up of his business and his joy and anticipation for the next chapter. Wishing you all success and happiness in your new venture. Love from Australia. Xxx
It’s 1am in California on a work night about to go to sleep and wondering how I missed the notification couple of hours ago- doesn’t matter I have to watch - can’t sleep now😂
Oh, so excited to watch, been wanting to see Penelope and Robert, and to have the whole family back together, now I am going to sit back and enjoy some bailey's and coffee and relax, much love from Northern California.
All I can say is Thank-you, was feeling all of Robe'rt emotions with closing his office, and company must have been really hard to do, leaving his business and friends, coworker's but happy that he and Maruca have reunited as well as Julia and Carolina, well I know Penelope is going to be quite happy with her mini circus soleil workshops (insert lightbulb here), thank-you again for the 45 minute escape
If it’s real gold leaf there is an antique glaze, Katcha a U tuber has wonderful inspiration for furniture flipping with paint and a gold leaf. Have a great adventure.
OMG, your Daddy is simply precious! What a brilliant man he is! I know he will fall in Love with France and the incredible lifestyle it affords. Your friends and family are planning their trip to visit!! My best friend & husband bought a old farm house with charming Gite. We were all there to visit and contribute to weeks of pleasure of exploring Brittany and Normandy. Their Gite was rented yearly by a couple from the UK who had 4 dogs, which were welcomed into the walled Gite. They stayed for two months yearly which covered all taxes associated with the property. But the other 10 months they were “open” to friends and family. We shared 15 simply glorious years visiting them on the Brittany Coast! Alas, time catches up and it heartbreaking for them to sell. We now are neighbors on the coast of Georgia, living by the tides and ocean.😅 Simply wonderful family ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good morning it’s 1:27 AM in Long Beach, California and I’m seeing your new post and I am so delighted to see your father in your post. I have been thinking about him the last couple weeks and I woke up this morning to see that your father has finally retired and is now with you made me so happy now your family is totally complete and the beautiful adventure will now start With all of you together. Your home is looking so marvelous. I pray that you always stay healthy and strong and continue to have a beautiful life in your new home in France. Bye for now Rosemary 🌹
Retiring along with closing a company both require a lot of physical, mental and emotional challenges to be met…but then moving to a new continent ! It will surely be a process for you all. You and Carolina and your Mama have certainly paved the way to welcome your sister and Papa into a warm, homey chateau cocoon ❤️Wishing you all the best !
What a delightful video. Dad is lovely...he reminds me of my husband...quiet and an avid bicyclist! And he can cook! A bonus. I hope he settles into a well deserved retirement with all of his women!
It really struck me watching your dad say goodbye to his friend, his biking equipment and the Penny’s cars, how many goodbyes happen when a family makes such a big change, we only usually see the excitement and the novelty, but it was wonderful to see the poignant and real process behind such a move. Thanks for sharing it so openly.
Love your father’s outlook on life. I really felt encouraged by his words which were something that I needed to hear at this stage of my life 😊 Thank you Robert!
Hey my friends!! I haven’t been able to be on a lot lately but, my heart jumped for joy when I saw I had a new video of you all! I’m so happy that poppa and Penelope has joined to make it one big family reunion. I’ve missed you all so much and I hope I can get back to watching my most favorite chateau videos. I love you all so much❤️❤️❤️
Congrats to all of you for getting the entire family to the chateau...what a journey! I so appreciate your honesty regarding the challenges of figuring out how to all live and run a business together. It's important for everyone to have a specific role, so that there is no overlap. It may take time for everyone to establish where they can contribute the most to the business and be happy with their roles. As you've mentioned before, you'll all need to figure out how to function as a family, a business unit, separate couples, as well as carving out time for yourselves as individuals. I'm really looking forward to seeing what changes you make to the layout of the chateau that works for the family, as well as the business. Thanks for yet another great video!
Your dad’s words about life were poetic.
🚲💕 so well said
He will also have the best view of the stars, because the chateau won't be surrounded by city lights.
What a lovely vlog! Retiring, surrounded by a loving, respectful family. Who could ask for more?
I'm so happy that the whole family is reunited in one of the most beautiful chateaux.❤️
Your Dad has really embraced life at the chateau, biking and cooking. He looks so relaxed there already. I think he is loving this change
And he and Penelope are getting stuck in straight away into learning the language. The best thing to do when moving to any country. I'm francophone by birth, but they do count funny in France..."Quatre-vingt-dix? Nonante mes amis, nonante" :P
Your dad is my hero.....70 miles on a bike.
I used to wake up in a panic but I did get over it!@
Wow, your mother is so beautiful❤️ I’d love to hear about your parents’ love story🥰 Both seem like extraordinary people.
Agree! She's not only beautiful on the outside...she is such an elegant, ethereal soul!
It would be amazing to put a Copper Dome on the tower, hiding an observatory on the top floor.
Great idea for his own little segment or video clip ❤ 🌠
Art and Astronomy at the chateau.
Great idea
Seeing your Mum and Dad hug after soo long apart, brought a tear to my eyes. Special moment, right there.

Oh I admire your Dad’s ability to be deeply reflective and to turn change into joy. Such lovely balance.
I'm so happy for all of you! My husband retired at the end of 2021. It's been an adjustment that we have had to work through. I'm sure you all will feel some of the same things we did. Wishing you nothing buy success and happiness!

I appreciate hearing your family members' perspectives and reflections about language learning, immigration, long distance, admin and life in general. It's not "just" moving overseas. Sending love from Aoteaora New Zealand :)

Oh wow that would be an incredible honor!!!! We would be delighted to be part of making your honeymoon special!!!❤️
Hi dear family, kudos for your stunning work on this chateau. I've visited your beautiful web site and notice a tiny mistake on your film production page: septième art (the grave accent is on the e before the m, not on the e after the s).
I wish you success in your business and a long and happy life in your chateau.
Ah you’re right! Thank you for sharing this❤️
@@ladyofthechateau You're Welcome!
AAwww your dad had me in tears - what a sweet man. H
I found this episode very moving, it brought back many feelings I had when I moved here to France nearly twenty years ago. Wishing you all the happiness on your onward journey of discovery. Bonne Chance.
What a huge amazing step! Amazing! Your mom and dad is a brave people!!!! Greatings from the Caribbean!
Sweet story
I wish you all happiness, prosperity, contentment, laughter, serenity and lots of joy. xx
This brought tears to my eyes, so happy you're all finally reunited!
This was the most heartfelt reunion. Thank you for sharing such a private special time. I am a similar age to your mum and understand her commitments to her family. I cant wait to visit.
Out of all chateaux channels, your chateau is the most beautiful. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful historic home.
The best vlog so far! So professional and also heartfelt. I felt weepy listening to Bob speak about his mix of emotions, the winding up of his business and his joy and anticipation for the next chapter. Wishing you all success and happiness in your new venture. Love from Australia. Xxx
It’s 1am in California on a work night about to go to sleep and wondering how I missed the notification couple of hours ago- doesn’t matter I have to watch - can’t sleep now😂
Oh no! Please do get some sleep 🫣😴 and come on back to watch the video later ☺️
Bravo pour la classe de français ❤
OMG, your Daddy is simply precious! What a brilliant man he is! I know he will fall in
Love with France and the incredible lifestyle it affords.
We now are neighbors on the coast of Georgia, living by the tides and ocean.😅
Simply wonderful family ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I felt such emotion throughout this video! Here's to the next chapter for all of you!
A beautiful reunion…so upwards and onwards
Good morning it’s 1:27 AM in Long Beach, California and I’m seeing your new post and I am so delighted to see your father in your post. Rosemary 🌹
So happy to see you all together! Congratulations o no making this milestone!
Your Dad is very sweet
Retiring along with closing a company both require a lot of physical, mental and emotional challenges to be met…but then moving to a new continent ! It will surely be a process for you all. You and Carolina and your Mama have certainly paved the way to welcome your sister and Papa into a warm, homey chateau cocoon ❤️Wishing you all the best !
Love this!!!! So happy for you all! ❤
Wow, your dad’s work is so interesting.
It's lovely to see all of the family together at last, now the work begins 😊 great video guy's X💕🌼🤗
Your dad is precious!!! So happy he is home and you all are together again!!! Have fun & enjoy❤
Love your father’s outlook on life. I really felt encouraged by his words which were something that I needed to hear at this stage of my life 😊 Thank you Robert!
That was wonderful ❤ so good to see you all together😊🇨🇦
I think your Dad is going to love France. There are a lot of cycling opportunities there as it is a big sport in France.
I love you all so much❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️sending you much love and health Mary! Thank you for watching!!!
