Well I disagree did you watch her performance on Apple Music channel? If you didn’t you should this album is very good.. she had to switch it up. She’s still got bars..She can still freestyle though. This was a debut album and she writes her own lyrics. Most of these female rappers have ghost writers. She doesn’t.. sorry you’re wrong. What do you mean her sales? This album did better than her other albums. She doesn’t have no ghost writers. It was haters coming for her. She’s on the top of the charts mam.
I think we all wanted to believe Meg had potential but i was really disappointed by that album. I'm a fan, but i found myself skipping quite a few tracks and just not being satisfied by the music.
While I like Megan, I’ll have to agree 1000%. I was underwhelmed by Megan’s album and leading singles. It seems like her team is taking the “all publicity is good publicity” when that’s not the case as it pertains to drawing more attention to her music.

I honestly agree and think Megan is a talented rapper and makes cute bops but it’s the lack in ability to change her flow, tone, and topic for me. There’s just no versatility and I feel like every song is same as the last.

There's nothing that I've heard recently that makes me go woah ya know? For example I love Goldlink but ik what to expect now and theres nothing new w his flows
It's not really that she can't change her flow, but more, she can't really change her tone in delivery. So it just sounds like she doesn't change her flow.

I think Meg decided she wanted the awards and accolades that a Cardi collab and Roc Nation's connections could garner her. Times 100 most influential? How? I haven't seen Meg in the studio grinding in about a year. But the twerking is posted several times a week.

I think she is lost. She has no direction and no true friends but she is not a true friend either. Bad talks CB with Nicki who had to stop her, then cllabs butt that is not the issue. She befriends Jordan Woods then parties with Kylie. Goes behind her BF back and sleeps with he guy. These things are showing the personaity we are dealing with. I do not dislike MTS but she talks woman empowerment but do not believe in it. I feel duped.
A minute into the video and I absolutely agree with your constructive criticism. I''ve been Megan's fan because of her bars but was a little underwhelmed from the album. Her flows, delivery, bars and even the production of the album felt mediocre. I felt like she went a kind of commercial route and that's boring for me. Not hating on her, I just want her to unleash her true rapper/lyricist on most records
@John Abel she's got bars and is definitely better than French but again, it's all a matter of opinions. Generally speaking, she needs to get back to her roots and keep pushing her pen

@John Abel again, her not being as good enough as French is a purely subjective matter. Her earlier work proves her talent (specifically her freestyles). She's also made good music (not wap, but songs like big ole freak and captain hook, which are even loved by general public because of quality). And the industry shoving her down public's throat is never going to work because after Meg's issue with Tory, she's on general public's radar and has alot of people who absolutely hate her. This is a pattern with female rappers. Public hypes them up and when they blow up, public switches on them (Big latto, Chika and Flo milli are going through this right now). That's what's going on with Meg. I get why she would pick a commercial route to stay on public's safe side right now but she needs to deliver with her pen because she has the skill. I see how you feel about her though (through different comments) and I get it
i think because she doesn't have a Label and she is Self-publish , radio stations doesn't back her up and i think she is pretty. i don't know but she is a true talent. she is gold mine
Thank you, I’ve been feeling this way. It’s like she went from being a Nicki Minaj type of artist to a Cardi B type of artist and you can follow that even through the features lol. She went from raw, pure, authentic rap and artistry to now where it seems like her focus is mass appeal, twerking, club bangers and viral tiktok dances. It’s like you said she went from being authentic to the payola package and idk if she’s gonna be able to maintain longevity with that. I also think a huge part in it has to do with her label. Something’s telling me she’s trying to get out of her contract and if she’s not successful they’ll just keep her locked and shelved like they did Jojo, idk... but I’m afraid she’s gonna keep going down that payola rode. I just hope she maintains her authenticity along the way.
The thing about moving to RN is that J Prince interviewed last month and said he had a sit down with Jay Z about the "worker" and that they were good. Jay may be willing to pay to get her out of contract. After her album sales they may not care. Meg was good with 1501 2 weeks before going to RN. I don't know how well Meg will fair in the long run.

Her Cadence is one of her best part to me. She rides the beat effortlessly for the most part. She has such a raw flow & mixed in with her voice. She really has a great voice for rap. It's like talking for her it's super natural the way she does it.

I love the idea of Megan. I love her flow, I love her attitude, I think she's beautiful, I am rooting for her. But I don't listen to female rappers for WAP or Hot Girl Summer. I listen to female rappers, ultimately, I connect to them, for songs like Nicki's "All Things Go", "Ganja Burn", "Lookin' Ass", "Hard White", "Barbie Tingz", "Pills N Potions"... reflections, war cries, raw moments, stories about experiences that I relate to as a woman. Stories that give me strength, that remind me of my worth, that allow me to feel life through them. Megan's songs have none of that. Ever. It's frustrating.
And I just realized after writing this I feel more connected to Doja Cat's bars than Megan's. That makes me kinda sad. Because Megan has way more of a serious hip hop background and vibe.
I will say that I wash my hands of Megan and I don’t stan. After WAP, I was done with her. After she threw her best friend under the bus yet says “Protect Black women”, I was done with Megan. 🤷🏾♀️
Megan has so much potential but i agree wichu. The album was hella underwhelming and it's so sad cause a debut album is definitely the most important album for any artist.
Even if the debut is not the best it doesn’t feel authentic her at her she shoulda released one of her mixtapes instead of this and the lyrics aren’t hardcore instead it’s corny blah blah if you wanna leave then bye bye bye😒
Megan is clearly using her hype to sell her record and not her actual talent. This album was clearly rushed off the back of the Tory Lanez fiasco. Her team is using the publicity to push this album and products that need more time because body is actually a very generic plastic wap pop song it's also so annoying . I'm gonna need her to come with more versatility like she did on her early mix tapes. I Don't know if the fame that's gone to her head but she isn't the same person she started out with both professionally and personally from what we are seeing on social media she seems to be in a lot of mess with different people. focus on your craft and forget the BS.

I think the biggest thing is her mom not being a source of support for her anymore. She was there to help her with her great mixtapes (Tina Snow and Fever) and even though I loved Suga there has been a decline in her music for me. I also don’t like how her new team is having her move. She should not focus on scandals and make weird moves like working with FN, and releasing her album on the 10th anniversary of Pink Friday. It almost seems like they wanted to shoot her in the knee with that one. And the over use of samples in this album along with the short songs and lack of bars/relying on gimmicks (like Body) really bums me out. I do think she can still improve though and I really appreciate hearing your outlook as always
With the release of Good News, I was unimpressed with Megan, because I know she can offer more in her music. I definitely think there’s been a switch to focus more on mainstream, because she wants to be an industry girl. Overall, I was turned off
It seems after the loss of her mother, she really started to lose herself and her direction. We saw it happen with Kanye; let’s hope that she finds a good circle and team to back her going forward
A big thing with Meg though is her mom actually worked on her music with her. I don’t think Kanye’s mom ever worked with him or offered him guidance on his music
I totally agree with everything you said about the promotion aspect of this Megan era ! But another major thing for me, that you might have adressed on your Patreon, I don't know, is how monotone she's starting to sound like. Both lyrically and instrumental wise. Let me explain just taking Good News as an example. We all know she likes to serve "pimp vibes" on her tracks, and we can't deny it suits her well, BUT ! When every song on an album, on her debut album, serve you the same thing, it starts to sound monotone and boring... The only song that sets itself from the others is the album opener, and it's a diss track. Why are you opening an album with this ? Why is this even on the album ? Moreover, she almost never opens up on her tracks, you're lucky if you got one personal bar on a song... And I believe this makes it difficult for her audience to get to know who Megan really is, and also for us to relate to her... And I don't want that for her. I really want her to connect with her fan base more than that. And the other thing is the beats. That might be more subjective. But a beat, is the base of the song, so when beats get boring, ultimately the songs do too. And the thing for me, at least on Good News, is that it lacks variety aand originality in the instrumentals. Lots of them are sample (which I don't believe is good for an album) and/or generic beats, composed with sounds that we've heard a lot before from her or other artists. Overused sounds if I may. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple beats that aren't like this at all on the album, like the "Body" beat ? That hits hard, this is interesting. I'll try to sum up quickly. When we are used to Megan Thee mothafuckin Stallion hopping on various beats, killing her verses and delivering different vibes, it's hard to understand how and why she and her team constructed that project. I love Tina Snow and Fever wasn’t half bad either but when HGS came out and how the video got pushed back which could of gotten both her & Nicki a Top 10 hit rubbed me the wrong way. Then the Queen Radio thing happened. It all just seemed extremely strange. Once WAP was released and her & Cardi was acting like the best of friends , I already knew Meg just wasn’t for me anymore. How do you do a song with the same person you shaded? I just can’t get down with the way Megan moves . She seems really disingenuous. I understand business is business but you should still keep your authenticity. When I saw Good News track list I didn’t even bother to listen. You put the City Girls on your album who you’ve shaded but give your 2 besties who actually write their raps, Maliibu and Asian, backup dancer cameos? What a terrible debut album .
i say fever should have been her debut personally, from song to song and bar to bar on that album (that she changed into a mixtape) was phenomenal i’m sorry good news was very.....eehh. very underwhelming.
As a visual artist myself, I love aesthetics. But I have found myself loosing interest in Megan after WAP (the visual in that video is soooo good) but I was underwhelmed by her part of the music. The reason why I love Megan is due to her lyricism abilities. I haven’t heard her new album yet, so I don’t have much opinion on it. But seeing how her team is more focus on visuals aesthetic (which I personally don’t mind) and TikTok trends as marketing tools for her music 🧐 idk, I think there’ll be a decline in the long run (I hope I’m wrong tho). Her rapping and lyrical abilities is top notch.
Her best and nastiest flows are coming from her Make it Hot mixtape and Tina snow mixtape. Straight up. Tina Montana was crazy, last week in Texas was too. She needs to get that

So in my opinion, I really feel like Megan was ruined by internet culture & tiktok. I listened to Body and it was, interesting. I feel like she stays on the internet a bit too long and her lyrical influence has shifted from HipHop to corny lines used by the internet. It is not bad in itself that shes on the internet and listens to trends for bars, but it makes it very corny since I don't feel like she is doing it the right way. For example these lines; "All them bitches scary cats, I call 'em Carole Baskins, ah" "The category is body, look at the way it's sittin'" The lines come off, to me personally as corny, and it's lines you see on Tiktok/Twitter a lot. There have been rappers who have made lines about trending apps or trends without making it sound corny or lame for example; "Your time is ticking, you bitches will be around shorter than Vine vids" Which isn't corny and is actual rap. I feel like Megan's album quality was tainted by catchy songs for the general population to eat up, but a lot of Megan fans were actual hip-hop fans excited to see a new lyrical female, which she did not show at all in her album, and I feel like the sales represent that.

Let’s dive into this!! First, let me preface this and state that in my opinion Megan is by no means “over hyped”. I want to begin but making a slight rebuttal with something you said around the 12:30 time stamp. I think that getting tiktok streams is a double edged sword. For example, Megan’s recent song “Body” was being eaten the hell up on tiktok. I am not going to take the streams away from her, but at the same time I think “Body” was one of the worst, and corniest songs I’ve ever heard from Megan PERIOD. I don’t think body is a “bad” song, but I don’t think it’s good. We all know Megan can spit for real, but when I heard “Body” I knew this was a “tiktok song.” (A “tiktok song” in my definition is a sound with quick to grasp lyrics, a simplified hook with east to grasp lyrics, EMPHASIS ON THE CATCHY [annoying hook] HOOK). I think when music artists “dumb” themselves down to make tracks like this, many fans like myself who feed off that raw and unfiltered hungry fall back a little. Correct me if anyone thinks I’m wrong but, I know that’s what happened with me. Secondly, you said something that made me rejoice because I have been saying this for the longest and you took the words out of my mouth. “WHEN👏🏽YOU 👏🏽MAKE 👏🏽GENERAL 👏🏽MUSIC, 👏🏽YOU 👏🏽WILL 👏🏽GET 👏🏽A 👏🏽GENERAL 👏🏽RESPONSE!!!” TALK YO SHIT!!! I believe Megan was used to push Cardi B back into the spotlight with WAP. Cardi was starting to fall out of flavor and Megan was already on her way to stardom, so I see why collaboration was done.
What i think happened was she looked up to Nicki before she was even known and she saw Nicki had actually worked for what she got and put in the effort, so she(meg) was like “well to get where she is i gotta put in 100% too”. Then somewhere along the way as she started gaining more attention she noticed “Oh cardi is big and she doesnt even write her own raps, so i dont have to give my all, i can just rap about my pssy and still be big”. And thats how we got the megan we know today.
Nicki was the Industry’s darling for nearly 10 years. Then it was Iggy for 1 year, then it was Nicki again, then they promoted Remy Ma for about 6 months. After that Cardi became the new it girl of rap for 2 years. Now its Megan. These girls cant maintain the top spot for a very long time. Doja and Nicki will be on top 2021.

Gotta say this is probably the most measured video and comment section regarding critiquing megan especially from a fans perspective. Even if i enjoyed the album a lot, more than suga, I do worry her sound will grow monotonous and I dont want her to fall off. It's not something that bothers me but I can see how for hiphop fans and eventually mainstream fans this can quickly become an issue
Ok so I love your channel! Subscribed. This is the convo i've been waiting for, from her genuine fans who appreciate her lyricism, not mindless stans who say everything she drops is "no skips". I too am certified hottie, been following her since I discovered her Houston cypher in 2017. Her 2020 projects were MAD disappointing, especially Good News. Her team has her chasing trends and being an instagram influencer. They're trying to make her fit the mold like all these other rap girls but her skills put her a cut above most of them. I really hope Meg gets the chance to be in her true, lyrical bag and find her own niche.
I love your videos, I think you’re very smart, not only about bars but the business aspect of it. As a accountant I appreciate your input in regards to the business administration aspect because that is the tea. I consider myself a big fan of Megan Thee Stallion myself, after Nicki Minaj there was no female rapper I truly enjoyed. I completely agree she’s overhyped. The social media engagement and songs like Savage & WAP that were well received made it seem she was a bigger star than she really is. She “benefited or got affected” by the “social dilemma”. She has been going viral and TikTok is the main reason of her songs finding success but core hip-hop listeners were never convinced. Many believed Megan was a bigger artist than Cardi B when comparing their debuts eras. The difference is, Cardi had a fan base due to her “likeable” personality. Mega Thee Stallion does not have a big core fan base. There’s no ride or die fans. Mostly because she’s fallen into the general public perception. The common thing people say is “Megan should chose friends wisely” or talk about the Tory Lanez incident. So she’s starting to get known more for controversies than music. She’s been collaborating with tons of female rappers and Beyoncé on her big hits. She will see success but that’s a collaborative success with an already established star. Add that Roc Nation entered the game... 🤦🏽♂️ She’s not an established star, she was an up & coming rapper. She should have kept her hungry side awake.
I feel like Megan needs a break. I support her but clearly her team, new management, and label isn’t helping her perform to the level we expect. Not saying she can’t explore new opportunities but the entire dance craze, sexualized aesthetic, and WAP theme is getting over done. I miss the boss-vibe, hardcore, story telling Megan. She genuinely is a great lyricist if she focuses her authentic marketing strategy, and drops better music similar to Tina Snow ❄️ I will be satisfied. Record labels should know going mainstream is very outdated, having an underground appeal is more relatable. I just can’t relate to Megan anymore I love her but hopefully she leaves Hollywood alone.
This is crazy because that's exactly how I feel. I love the connection she was building with her fans and the raw freestyling type rap she came out doing. But the whole have to be friends with everybody kind of takes away a little because it do seem disingenuous. Let's not forget the whole female rap uniti thing was started by Kim and Remy as a dig at Nicki. Trying to push their own narrative that Nikki don't get along with anybody. Right now it's all too commercial for me. Don't get me wrong I like the songs I just feel she gotten away from herself.
I feel like Megan is losing what made her artistry unique. Tina Snow and Fever had really cool concepts, the bars went hard, and the beat selection fit her really well. It seems like she shifted to making mainstream music and she’s losing what made her appeal to people. Good News was not a good album and I don’t feel like it showcased her talent well.
I've noticed that, generally speaking, sometimes the debut albums aren't as good as the mixtapes when it comes to rappers. With some I've seen improvements with the sophomore and later albums, but with some the music just doesn't excite and intrigue me as much as the mixtapes from the early days
I too am a hot girl and a Megan stan but yeah I agree with what you’re saying. The most recent album and promo run was definitely weaker than I expected. I STILL stan but I don’t like the direction they’ve taken her career in. She’s definitely moved away moved away from establishing herself as a rappity rapper. Before she was like the best of both worlds - had the aesthetics, twerks and also had bars for days. Hopefully next project we get that. I also thing it’s been a trauma filled two years for her so I give her grace for that also.
Ever since she signed a new contract with Roc nation / Jay z, I personally think her natural talent she had prior to her new album has just been pushed way back in the shadows and she is now being promoted and having to write tracks to just simply make money and sales for Roc nation and just mix tracks that are catching and through some basic lyrics together and BOOM $$$ .... It's a shame I was a massive massive massive massive fan of ALL her old tracks and mixtapes and to this day I still listen to them all the time daily as her bars were so high and lyrics were on point 👌 Note * .. Don’t forget she still owes money and albums to 1501 because she hasn’t held her end of the bargain so she has to constantly put out music. Watch lovelyti2002 she did a very good breakdown of her label situation last year.
They turned Megan into a gimmick by forcing her down everyone throats to make her APPEAR like a Mega star. But you can tell, that they should have nurtured her artistry FIRST. They should have let her organically grow on people even though it wouldn't be as fast of a comeup. He fan base would be a lot more loyal in the end. The way the barbs are obsessed, bardigang, and even Dojas fans. They are incredibly loyal because it was organic and not forced. Speaking of, Doja is way more talented than Megan and honestly the longevity, creativity, and versatility that Doja has is exactly what Megan doesn't have. She has no depth...that's sad...

I think we all wanted to believe Meg had potential but i was really disappointed by that album. I'm a fan, but i found myself skipping quite a few tracks and just not being satisfied by the music.

A minute into the video and I absolutely agree with your constructive criticism. I''ve been Megan's fan because of her bars but was a little underwhelmed from the album. Her flows, delivery, bars and even the production of the album felt mediocre. I felt like she went a kind of commercial route and that's boring for me. Not hating on her, I just want her to unleash her true rapper/lyricist on most records

She's also made good music (not wap, but songs like big ole freak and captain hook, which are even loved by general public because of quality). And the industry shoving her down public's throat is never going to work because after Meg's issue with Tory, she's on general public's radar and has alot of people who absolutely hate her. This is a pattern with female rappers. Public hypes them up and when they blow up, public switches on them (Big latto, Chika and Flo milli are going through this right now). That's what's going on with Meg. I get why she would pick a commercial route to stay on public's safe side right now but she needs to deliver with her pen because she has the skill. Thank you, I’ve been feeling this way. It’s like she went from being a Nicki Minaj type of artist to a Cardi B type of artist and you can follow that even through the features lol. She went from raw, pure, authentic rap and artistry to now where it seems like her focus is mass appeal, twerking, club bangers and viral tiktok dances. It’s like you said she went from being authentic to the payola package and idk if she’s gonna be able to maintain longevity with that. I also think a huge part in it has to do with her label. Something’s telling me she’s trying to get out of her contract and if she’s not successful they’ll just keep her locked and shelved like they did Jojo, idk... but I’m afraid she’s gonna keep going down that payola rode. I just hope she maintains her authenticity along the way.

The thing about moving to RN is that J Prince interviewed last month and said he had a sit down with Jay Z about the "worker" and that they were good. Jay may be willing to pay to get her out of contract. After her album sales they may not care. Meg was good with 1501 2 weeks before going to RN. I don't know how well Meg will fair in the long run.

Her Cadence is one of her best part to me. She rides the beat effortlessly for the most part. She has such a raw flow & mixed in with her voice. She really has a great voice for rap. It's like talking for her it's super natural the way she does it.

I love the idea of Megan. I love her flow, I love her attitude, I think she's beautiful, I am rooting for her. But I don't listen to female rappers for WAP or Hot Girl Summer. I listen to female rappers, ultimately, I connect to them, for songs like Nicki's "All Things Go", "Ganja Burn", "Lookin' Ass", "Hard White", "Barbie Tingz", "Pills N Potions"... reflections, war cries, raw moments, stories about experiences that I relate to as a woman. Stories that give me strength, that remind me of my worth, that allow me to feel life through them. Megan's songs have none of that. Ever. It's frustrating.
And I just realized after writing this I feel more connected to Doja Cat's bars than Megan's. That makes me kinda sad. Because Megan has way more of a serious hip hop background and vibe.

Megan is clearly using her hype to sell her record and not her actual talent. This album was clearly rushed off the back of the Tory Lanez fiasco. Her team is using the publicity to push this album and products that need more time because body is actually a very generic plastic wap pop song it's also so annoying . I'm gonna need her to come with more versatility like she did on her early mix tapes. I think the biggest thing is her mom not being a source of support for her anymore. She was there to help her with her great mixtapes (Tina Snow and Fever) and even though I loved Suga there has been a decline in her music for me. I also don’t like how her new team is having her move. She should not focus on scandals and make weird moves like working with FN, and releasing her album on the 10th anniversary of Pink Friday. It almost seems like they wanted to shoot her in the knee with that one. And the over use of samples in this album along with the short songs and lack of bars/relying on gimmicks (like Body) really bums me out. I do think she can still improve though and I really appreciate hearing your outlook as always

I totally agree with everything you said about the promotion aspect of this Megan era !
But another major thing for me, that you might have adressed on your Patreon, I don't know, is how monotone she's starting to sound like. Both lyrically and instrumental wise. Let me explain just taking Good News as an example. We all know she likes to serve "pimp vibes" on her tracks, and we can't deny it suits her well, BUT ! When every song on an album, on her debut album, serve you the same thing, it starts to sound monotone and boring... The only song that sets itself from the others is the album opener, and it's a diss track. Why are you opening an album with this ? Why is this even on the album ? Moreover, she almost never opens up on her tracks, you're lucky if you got one personal bar on a song... And I believe this makes it difficult for her audience to get to know who Megan really is, and also for us to relate to her... And I don't want that for her. I really want her to connect with her fan base more than that.
And the other thing is the beats. That might be more subjective. But a beat, is the base of the song, so when beats get boring, ultimately the songs do too. And the thing for me, at least on Good News, is that it lacks variety aand originality in the instrumentals. Lots of them are sample (which I don't believe is good for an album) and/or generic beats, composed with sounds that we've heard a lot before from her or other artists. Overused sounds if I may. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple beats that aren't like this at all on the album, like the "Body" beat ? That hits hard, this is interesting.
I'll try to sum up quickly. When we are used to Megan Thee mothafuckin Stallion hopping on various beats, killing her verses and delivering different vibes, it's hard to understand how and why she and her team constructed that project.

As a visual artist myself, I love aesthetics. But I have found myself loosing interest in Megan after WAP (the visual in that video is soooo good) but I was underwhelmed by her part of the music. The reason why I love Megan is due to her lyricism abilities. I haven’t heard her new album yet, so I don’t have much opinion on it. But seeing how her team is more focus on visuals aesthetic (which I personally don’t mind) and TikTok trends as marketing tools for her music 🧐 idk, I think there’ll be a decline in the long run (I hope I’m wrong tho). So in my opinion, I really feel like Megan was ruined by internet culture & tiktok. I listened to Body and it was, interesting. I feel like she stays on the internet a bit too long and her lyrical influence has shifted from HipHop to corny lines used by the internet. It is not bad in itself that shes on the internet and listens to trends for bars, but it makes it very corny since I don't feel like she is doing it the right way. For example these lines;
"All them bitches scary cats, I call 'em Carole Baskins, ah"
"The category is body, look at the way it's sittin'"
The lines come off, to me personally as corny, and it's lines you see on Tiktok/Twitter a lot. There have been rappers who have made lines about trending apps or trends without making it sound corny or lame for example;
"Your time is ticking, you bitches will be around shorter than Vine vids"
Which isn't corny and is actual rap. I feel like Megan's album quality was tainted by catchy songs for the general population to eat up, but a lot of Megan fans were actual hip-hop fans excited to see a new lyrical female, which she did not show at all in her album, and I feel like the sales represent that.
Let me just say that I freaking love your videos!!! Also thank you for keeping the video about Megan, and not about Nicki, Cardi, Saweetie, City Girls, or any other artist out there.
Let’s dive into this!! First, let me preface this and state that in my opinion Megan is by no means “over hyped”. I want to begin but making a slight rebuttal with something you said around the 12:30 time stamp. I think that getting tiktok streams is a double edged sword. For example, Megan’s recent song “Body” was being eaten the hell up on tiktok. I am not going to take the streams away from her, but at the same time I think “Body” was one of the worst, and corniest songs I’ve ever heard from Megan PERIOD. I don’t think body is a “bad” song, but I don’t think it’s good. We all know Megan can spit for real, but when I heard “Body” I knew this was a “tiktok song.” (A “tiktok song” in my definition is a sound with quick to grasp lyrics, a simplified hook with east to grasp lyrics, EMPHASIS ON THE CATCHY [annoying hook] HOOK). I think when music artists “dumb” themselves down to make tracks like this, many fans like myself who feed off that raw and unfiltered hungry fall back a little. Correct me if anyone thinks I’m wrong but, I know that’s what happened with me.
Secondly, you said something that made me rejoice because I have been saying this for the longest and you took the words out of my mouth. “WHEN👏🏽YOU 👏🏽MAKE 👏🏽GENERAL 👏🏽MUSIC, 👏🏽YOU 👏🏽WILL 👏🏽GET 👏🏽A 👏🏽GENERAL 👏🏽RESPONSE!!!” TALK YO SHIT!!! I think this all stems from the boom in.... (ready for it? drumroll please!!!) tiktok. I won’t even go in to detail about this again because I stated it above but, tiktok is truly something people need to be cautious of.

She definetly got lost in the midst of the car shooting. I feel like her energy shifted I tried to listen to her album and was not impressed at all. It seems like the album was rushed and she had no creative control.

i think roc nation just wants her to go nicki's route wayyy too quickly. before nicki started doing pop, she has already estabilished herself as a rapper. megan has barely just started, she aint showed the best of her yet when it comes to rap and they already forcing her to do the type of music u do as an indulgence when you done proved yourself to the public as an ARTIST. its all happening way too fast and theyre not doing her a favor with it. the timing of her official debut was just very unfortunate imho. it's not rly a good time to be a rapper first and a celebrity second. nowadays everyone wanna be big on tik tok, no matter what they do, whether theyre a teacher or a singer, everyone just wants to be viral. not a good time to make honest music at all.

I believe Megan was used to push Cardi B back into the spotlight with WAP. Cardi was starting to fall out of flavor and Megan was already on her way to stardom, so I see why collaboration was done.

What i think happened was she looked up to Nicki before she was even known and she saw Nicki had actually worked for what she got and put in the effort, so she(meg) was like “well to get where she is i gotta put in 100% too”. Then somewhere along the way as she started gaining more attention she noticed “Oh cardi is big and she doesnt even write her own raps, so i dont have to give my all, i can just rap about my pssy and still be big”. And thats how we got the megan we know today.

Nicki was the Industry’s darling for nearly 10 years. Then it was Iggy for 1 year, then it was Nicki again, then they promoted Remy Ma for about 6 months. After that Cardi became the new it girl of rap for 2 years. Now its Megan. These girls cant maintain the top spot for a very long time. Doja and Nicki will be on top 2021.

Gotta say this is probably the most measured video and comment section regarding critiquing megan especially from a fans perspective. Even if i enjoyed the album a lot, more than suga, I do worry her sound will grow monotonous and I dont want her to fall off. It's not something that bothers me but I can see how for hiphop fans and eventually mainstream fans this can quickly become an issue
Ok so I love your channel! Subscribed. This is the convo i've been waiting for, from her genuine fans who appreciate her lyricism, not mindless stans who say everything she drops is "no skips". I too am certified hottie, been following her since I discovered her Houston cypher in 2017. Her 2020 projects were MAD disappointing, especially Good News. Her team has her chasing trends and being an instagram influencer. They're trying to make her fit the mold like all these other rap girls but her skills put her a cut above most of them. I really hope Meg gets the chance to be in her true, lyrical bag and find her own niche.

I consider myself a big fan of Megan Thee Stallion myself, after Nicki Minaj there was no female rapper I truly enjoyed. I completely agree she’s overhyped. The social media engagement and songs like Savage & WAP that were well received made it seem she was a bigger star than she really is. She “benefited or got affected” by the “social dilemma”. She has been going viral and TikTok is the main reason of her songs finding success but core hip-hop listeners were never convinced. Many believed Megan was a bigger artist than Cardi B when comparing their debuts eras. The difference is, Cardi had a fan base due to her “likeable” personality.
Mega Thee Stallion does not have a big core fan base. There’s no ride or die fans. Mostly because she’s fallen into the general public perception. The common thing people say is “Megan should chose friends wisely” or talk about the Tory Lanez incident. So she’s starting to get known more for controversies than music. She’s been collaborating with tons of female rappers and Beyoncé on her big hits. She will see success but that’s a collaborative success with an already established star. Add that Roc Nation entered the game... 🤦🏽♂️
She’s not an established star, she was an up & coming rapper. She should have kept her hungry side awake.

I feel like Megan needs a break. I support her but clearly her team, new management, and label isn’t helping her perform to the level we expect. Not saying she can’t explore new opportunities but the entire dance craze, sexualized aesthetic, and WAP theme is getting over done. I miss the boss-vibe, hardcore, story telling Megan. She genuinely is a great lyricist if she focuses her authentic marketing strategy, and drops better music similar to Tina Snow ❄️ I will be satisfied. Record labels should know going mainstream is very outdated, having an underground appeal is more relatable. I just can’t relate to Megan anymore I love her but hopefully she leaves Hollywood alone.

This is crazy because that's exactly how I feel. I love the connection she was building with her fans and the raw freestyling type rap she came out doing. But the whole have to be friends with everybody kind of takes away a little because it do seem disingenuous. Let's not forget the whole female rap uniti thing was started by Kim and Remy as a dig at Nicki. Trying to push their own narrative that Nikki don't get along with anybody. Right now it's all too commercial for me. Don't get me wrong I like the songs I just feel she gotten away from herself.
I feel like Megan is losing what made her artistry unique. Tina Snow and Fever had really cool concepts, the bars went hard, and the beat selection fit her really well. It seems like she shifted to making mainstream music and she’s losing what made her appeal to people. Good News was not a good album and I don’t feel like it showcased her talent well.

I've noticed that, generally speaking, sometimes the debut albums aren't as good as the mixtapes when it comes to rappers. With some I've seen improvements with the sophomore and later albums, but with some the music just doesn't excite and intrigue me as much as the mixtapes from the early days
I too am a hot girl and a Megan stan but yeah I agree with what you’re saying. The most recent album and promo run was definitely weaker than I expected. I STILL stan but I don’t like the direction they’ve taken her career in. She’s definitely moved away moved away from establishing herself as a rappity rapper. Before she was like the best of both worlds - had the aesthetics, twerks and also had bars for days. Hopefully next project we get that. I also thing it’s been a trauma filled two years for her so I give her grace for that also.

I personally think her natural talent she had prior to her new album has just been pushed way back in the shadows and she is now being promoted and having to write tracks to just simply make money and sales for Roc nation and just mix tracks that are catching and through some basic lyrics together and BOOM $$$ ....
It's a shame I was a massive massive massive massive fan of ALL her old tracks and mixtapes and to this day I still listen to them all the time daily as her bars were so high and lyrics were on point 👌

They should have let her organically grow on people even though it wouldn't be as fast of a comeup. He fan base would be a lot more loyal in the end. The way the barbs are obsessed, bardigang, and even Dojas fans.
