If you're trying to figure out how to attach the second/top shelf to the first one, you have to unscrew the black covers at the base of the poles, then they'll slot easily into the top of the first assembled shelf. The trickiest thing I found was ensuring each shelf was at exactly the same height. Often I would eyeball it and it looked fine, but when I measured the distance on each pole, from the shelf below to each new shelf, it was often out by as much as a centimetre. But, it worked out in the end. Good luck all, and thanks for the video.
Phew so glad i found this video! The instruction booklet wasn't very helpful re: the orientation of the black bracket things so i had installed them upside down. I noticed that one end was tapered but they didn't clarify in the booklet which side was meant to be up! They made an attempt to how the slots were meant to fit together but it was still confusing and unclear
Try to flip them around. Is it possible you have them upside down? If that doesn’t work, is this the same case with all of the clips in all of the packs? Just taking some trouble shooting steps here.

HI Tia, the two halves snap together around the pole at the height of your choosing. Once snapped together they should rest on the next groove below where you snapped them. They should all be at same height so the shelf will be level. They are slightly beveled so the smaller end faces the ceiling so that the shelf will slide over the snapped on clip halves.
@@DIYTechnician I'm also having a problem wiht the clips--some of them won't stay in place. The 4 sides are therefore at different heights already wiht the first (lowest) shelf.
@@lauramartin9243 this seems to be common based on feedback. I remember treating different sets of clips and seeing if they pair up or snap together better. They will compress nicely once on their respective poles and shelf placed down. Remember the clips are directional.
@@DIYTechnician thanks! I will keep at it. Kindly neighbour coming to help. It seems a pretty basic flaw in the design, I have to say! It's kind of you to maintain this Q&A about it . IKEA ought to do better!
Um no, the shelve edges (holes) are not sitting at the same place on each clip and it seems like there’s no way to fix that- it makes for a wobbly unit- it feels like with weight the shelf will slip even more
Right on Eddie. Yeah man I recommend these. Easy to put together and take apart. They last forever too. You won’t be disappointed I don’t think. Thanks for watching and commenting! Take care.
I was reading the reviews and some people suggested this too. So I gave it a go like Rajoo and it was very wobbly because the rings didn't fit over the black clips. So I assembled it as normal, and then finally realised that I could flip the entire thing upside down. Unfortunately my legs were now facing up! In hindsight, since the legs are so easy to remove, it sounds like it's possible to put the legs on the other side as long as you give it enough space, heck if I had known I might not even use legs, more stability that way plus a nice lip so that things can't slide off. EDIT: Just pulled off the legs, doesn't look like you can put them on the other end sadly. So I guess I have four things sticking up!
Is it possible to install the shelves the other way around so the edges are pointing upwards rather than downwards??? Just so things won't be sliding of quite easily
Hi Dax, I think casters would work on this however my fear would be that it’d topple pretty easy depending on circumstances. That being said I owned an almost identical shelf system purchased from Cosco years ago and it had mini casters on it that locked. That’s my 2 cents. Take care.
@@DIYTechnician thanks for the reply - for anyone else curious I found a nice looking Ivar shelf with casters. www.ikea.com/ch/en/ideas/how-to-hack-an-ivar-shelf-pub2b31e050
Sorry I don’t have a numerical weight value to give you but i’ve loaded mine down pretty good with storage bins and crates over the years and it held up good. Take care!!

Count the rings starting from the top or from the bottom, whichever is closer. When you have the same amounts of rings counted on each leg than you know you have the height adjusted evenly save for any bottom adjustments after shelves have been installed.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks so much! I didn't understand that the corners of the metal shelves slide OVER the black plastic brackets. Lifesaver!
Great video!!! Love the no-talking needed aspect! ✌️Very helpful!!
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video with instructions!! IKEA’s booklet didn’t explain how they were supposed to be stacked 🤦🏽♀️
Very glad to hear that it helped! Thanks for the kind words.Take care=)
Thank you. I couldn't figure out how the shelves were added as the black fittings didn't seem to work.
Awesome! Glad this helped. Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you for this benn while since i put one together
Heck yes, thanks for commenting:) take er easy
I cannot clip my black clips together, the legs seem too wide and consequently I can’t get the shelf on ☹️

Thank you DIY technician - that worked. I feel suitably stupid!!!
I have the same problem. Clips are too small for the diameter of the leg.
My clips are also too small and I can’t get them to fit at all. Anyone have any advice?
@@daisyanne30 have you flipped them around?

For sure. Thanks for watching and commenting too:)
Are they adjustable??
They sure are.
This hardware asmr is for the birds.
Hahaha
my black clips did not snap together like that so now they show on the assembled unit grrrr
Joanna Pocock did it come with different clips?

Hi Can you cut the legs to they unit isn't so high? I need to fit it under a cabinet. tks
Yes for sure. A hack saw will easily to the trick.

Is it possible to reverse the black clips and install the shelves upside down this way each shelf has a lip?
tried it but ended up with a wobbly shelf rack, probably only works the other way

I havn’t tested that out but I think the pressure of the flared end pieces of the shelf help hold it into place on the plastic brackets.
It’s worth a try though
Are the racks adjustable or fixed spacings?
They are retina adjustable
I put the first shelf in and now I want to move it and I can’t. How could I take it off?? Help!
No worries just tap it up from the bottom. It’ll be fine.
Do you know if this can be put on casters?

Would appreciate anyone who has put casters on this OMAR shelf to share the exact size of the casters and link. Thanks very much
Ive seen them on the ones cosco used to sell. Shouldnt be too hard to find some smaller ones to fit
I like it
Thanks:)
You put the shelf holders on upside down 0:45 - 1:02
Then you edited the video and now they're installed correctly 1:05
Ok thanks
