i’ve only been playing a few months. switched to left leg forward and it improved my ppr a ton. i also have a flat bag which a lot of the advanced players are surprised by. but haven’t thought about my shoulders! will be focusing on that now. thank you!
Good tips! Throwing it consistently straight is easily my biggest issue. No matter how much I think I'm keeping my arm locked and straight, I'm still all over the place. I guess I'm going to have to videotape myself.
I would love some mental focuse tips please. I find myself struggling to stay focused in games when I miss a few shots it really gets into my head and I can't seem to find a way to quick reset. This causes a snowball effect for me. Any advice on how to remove the negative/frustration headspace and bounce back from some bad throws? Thank you and I've really been enjoying the content and learning from you both.
Love that you guys are in Wisconsin. I'm near Milwaukee and wis I could meet up to get a little more edge on my game. Struggling with airmails as well as straight push shots. Thanks for all of your helpful videos
Would you be willing to do a 30-45 session of helping with straightness and releases? Maybe also some cut and roll breakdown? I would pay, I'm a disabled army vet of 15 years and cornhole has Reay helped me heal
@@margaritovasquez8122 I will be at the Milwaukee ACL Open. Would be happy to help and instruct however I can at no charge. This is Joel (Pops)....Blake will not be there.
I understand squaring your shoulders when on the left side of the board, what do you do when you are on the right side and throwing at an angle? I am a lot more inconsistent on the right side. I also graze my leg with the bag on my back swing and my throw. Is this a bad thing? Thanks for the video!
Sqare shoulders is vital on either side.....you can angle your entire body a little bit on the right side if you need to, but still a square should delivery. Generally, hitting your leg isn't a good idea.....but it may help if your arm has a tendency to sway "outward" which usually isn't good :)
When throwing the off board side do u angle ur alignment slightly to make the angle better or stay straight and as I was cut the bag a little to make the angle better?
I enjoy the videos you have put out. You go into some depth on things that are brushed over in other videos. One question I have is do you have an aiming mechanism in your throw? Or are you just aiming based on feel? for example, I'm been playing with the aiming using the V shape that my thumb and index finger make and with the way I release the bag, I can be pretty consistent if I feel like I point the V at my target. There are some shots that require great accuracy, so I'd be interested in both "Pops" and Blake's thoughts.
Just make sure you have that visual. Whether it's looking at the hole, or another spot. Sometimes, I treat it like a putt in golf. Look at the hole, bring the eyes back to you on a line that throw the bag back on that line. Seems to work for me pretty good. Good Luck To You!

Throwing fast side has helped a lot for me. I highly recommend it to all beginners wanting to develop that throw and confidence
If you can keep the fast on the board, it's butter around the hole :)

Thank You Niki....Blake and I talked this weekend about this subject. Look for a video about Focus and the Mental Approach coming soon.
Thank you...will be throwing/ playing for my first time ... appreciate this info!! 👍🤗
Good Luck and enjoy the game!
Thanks for the tips - Djo Life, the unofficial Pied Piper of Cornhole.
I would say "If it's not straight you'll NEVER be great"
Thanks for taking time on this one 🤙🏽

Seems like I play great when I'm not thinking. If I'm nervous and "trying", everything feels unnatural and I miss left and right.
If a player can get to the point where the throw is "simple" and doesn't require much thinking, then you should be on your way :)

I use painter's tape for tagets on the board. nice video

Always try to keep it straight.......Good Luck!
So how would you stay square when you are throwing off side vs over the board?
