In Norway, every farm used to have it's own well. And each well had one or two trout, both to eat algae, snails and whatever else ended up in the well, and to give an indication on the water quality. The trout needed to be quite small, which meant that most farmers would replace the fish every year or so. That day, the family ate pan fried trout as a midday snack.

Yeah, the old farmhouse I grew up in has a cistern under the garage, not used in many decades. I remember peeking into it a few times as a kid but we never made use of it.
What an awesome setup he's made & I love how many important details you covered so quickly. Wow! This video was fantastic!!!
I would have thought the darkness is a problem. But maybe the fish like it dark? I'm interested in the lighting setup, but this is a very cool idea for pets or food. Thanks!
Good point about the accumulation of unwanted (harmful) gasses in a confined space below ground. Thanks for another fine video.
Small Adam is not real, he can’t hurt you.

Thank you Adam, you have such great content! It has even changed the way my family eats. Thanks
I love how you've slowly integrated fish stuff into your content. Very interesting. Also for some reason I always thought you were at least 6ft. You just must know your angles.
Eel pit guy platforming a small creator today is great
I am so happy for you to be able to collab! Glad you're doing things you enjoy
After listening your podcasts and the things you've mentioned recently, I'm really glad you got out and did something a little different. It's clear you did because you found it fun, and for what it's worth, id easily watch any/all informative content you make - it's doesnt have to be all food and recipes etc
I was about to say I'll never have a house with a cistern, but then I remembered that growing up in San Antonio we had the Edwards Aquifer right below us, so pretty close imho.
This was a very well done report, thank you.
I was just recommended this channel today, what an incredible gem
how does he avoid mold?
No light = no mold
If its clean water, you dont need to do anything more but you still need control ph level if have fish like him
One of the coolest most innovative freshwater enclosures I have ever seen......
I have worked in every facet of the aquarium trade including owning herp./aquarium wholesale and retail shops in LA....
Outstanding bro......
Rad AF......

As a long time aquarium keeper, I hope you post more content about fish keeping.
Absolutely love you called out my local coffee roaster!
I feel like this should be extremely common. Would love to have this
“You ever smoke weed?”
“I feel like you are missing out on a lot.”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Adam, you rock!
this is a discovery about adam i never wouldve expected
@@razz5614 ya know, I hadn’t thought about it either but it makes sense the more I think about it. Of course, I’m high now, so…
@@razz5614he should now make a guide on how to cook with thc or infuse it lol
I was looking for this comment
😂
Imagine hotboxing the eel room.
He should add a big throne and lights/projector that would be a sweet game/smoking room 😂
Most guys have a mid-life crisis and buy a motorcycle, or get divorced.
Adam's just out here getting super into fish husbandry. You love to see it 💖
Short Adam isn't real, he can't hurt you
_Short Adam in the thumbnail:_
I've had pretty high success rates with actually filtering aquarium water 100% with all plants and no water change systems but I understand that his situation requires that he cannot have aquatic plants so what would instead be probably the best option would be an above-ground bog filter or maybe a moss trough which would sit above the tank the water would run through at which point the plants would filter the water or the Moss it would go over it and then it would simply flow back in it wouldn't even be in the tank
I mean if what he has now works I don't see any reason to change it
How did your filtering system with plant work . Care to explain
I found Nick when I used to use tiktok and fell in love with the eel pit. honestly forgot about it after I deleted tiktok, glad to come across him again and follow along again!
For some reason I assumed Adam was way taller, and that he didn't enjoy cannabis. I suppose I shouldn't assume while im smoking.
Lmao same
I love that you somehow thought of collaboratimg with the eel pit guy, then decided it's a good idea and somehow he agreed.
I once made a basement sheep farm in Minecraft. This is kinda like that.
Adam, this is my favorite genre of content that you create. You make learning fun!
Gotta say, as a guy who was into aquariums for a good 20-25 years of my life, yeah you start to see any container that holds water as a potential fish tank
Been in the hobby for five years now and omg , you’re right !
I cant believe this dude finally got on a mega youtube channel! Thats cool! I been following him for a while now.
The correct term is fishtern.
Excellent video. I’ve been following Cow Turtle for quite some time and I think his cistern eel pit is just the cat’s pajamas. Happy holidays, everyone!
"The first thing they said is to never let any girls know about it" guys have no idea how to get a good partner. If you give people a false version of yourself, they will never be attracted to you, only the fake version of yourself. To get someone who wants the same things out of a relationship as you do, you have to present what you want out of a relationship. If you like eel pits, that is what you need other people to know and that is how you will attract people who like the eel pits too.
I think its more they don't want them to know they're selling caviar you know gold diggers would eat that up
@@zachdenning2226 bro did you watch the vid
haven't subbed in a minute but tbh this is you at your best. enjoy your journalism a lot
