  • We stumbled across this hidden gem of a place that is close to Melbourne and Full of adventure. With slippery tracks and a winch recovery, there is adventure for every one here.
Cobaw State Forest may not be the biggest forest around, however it is close to Lancefield with lots to do in the area.
To date we have only received one comment of someone reading this far. We love all the comments we get and hope to have more people join us on our adventures. See if you can see me in one of the scenes, I'm very hard to see but I'm there. Help us get to 1000 subs. Let us know if you are like us and don't learn some of the most basic lessons around. Oh, and let us know if you like some background music on the videos or if we should keep it out.

Another lesson we should have learnt - always make sure you are in L4. We just realised that we did the entire track in H4 😶

Good video. Everyone learns through experience.
Only cowboys think they know it all.
    Good narration and editing too.
Keep up the good work, and you'll be in the thousands of followers in no time (and beyond).
    Cheers
    Dan

I enjoyed the efficiency of your edit on this :) you had a lot of gear with you, pretty well prepared i think. No winch and less travel puts me further back into the "any 4wd" category than your current vehicle. It's always those rut slides I'm watchful of, as a board would be my only way out. It's a good mindset to have to always be prepared to turn around, and leave enough time to basically do the track twice. I've got to the end of one and found a large tree.. so it's possible to walk to the exit but not be able to get the car there. Great job completing this one.

Refreshing to see heart on the sleeve admissions and appraisal of what you should have done. I can tell by the way the car has been set up that you are not entirely "green". Should not need L4 if running flat easy trails, but does not hurt. Each car has it's differences and there is no "always", rule.

We also find that the time of year or weather can dramatically change how you need to approach tracks. Thank you for the positive comment!

Loved the narration on this vid. Great footage too. We went to Cobaw, did one hard track, and took it easy for the rest of the day. We don’t have a winch. But we were running the right pressures.

We are always cautious, but were more so when we didn't have the winch as it can be very easy to get yourself into trouble. Thank you for the beautiful comment about the narration as we are still very new to this and it is great to get some positive feedback

Thanks for the video. You did pretty well I thought! That was mud terrain tyre territory. Agree with you about the colour. My Fortuner which finally turned up about 3 weeks ago (after nearly 18 months waiting) is graphite colour, and pinstriping will be a problem. However I rarely clean my cars so not the end of the world😊. Mine now has standard size BFG KO2s and a Tough Dog 40mm lift, and on Saturday we'll be fitting an Offroad Animal Predator bar and Carbon winch. Very pleased with the Fortuner's capabilities on our steep tracks in the Avon wilderness area, but haven't done any muddy stuff yet. Might meet you on a track somewhere sometime.

How do you rate the tough dog lift? Trying to decide between tough dog and outback armour

Congratulations on finally getting your Fortuner!! That was a very long wait. It would be good to hear what you think of the BFG KO2's and lift as we always like another opinion. Hope to see you out there 😊

@@richardwalsh5570 To be honest I'm new in the game of suspension upgrades. I chose Tough Dog mainly because they offer adjustable shocks for the Fortuner, and few other brands do. The adjustment is quite quick and easy to do, so the plan is to have goto settings for different uses e.g. long highway drives vs rough offroad tracks. When all the heavy accessories are fitted, I can do some serious experimentation with the adjustments.

Nice little video. Will have to add that area to my list. Good on you for calling out your mistakes, it’s the way we learn and have all been there. Hope to see you out and about some day. Cheers
